Problem with Speedy Characters And The Heliophage

So I love Orendi, so much so I spend a whole day devoted to getting her lore challenge and plan to get her 100% soon.
She’s a very fast character but doesn’t have much air control unless you count using Nullify to propel yourself a little.
And for the past week or so I’ve ignored it and managed to get through it because there weren’t much death drops.
But then in The Heliophage when i was fighting Rendain and the Boss Rush I fell, out of the 8 lives i had and the 2-3 lives i gained while in his area I ended up barely beating him with 1 life left due to me jumping into the arena and some random enemy spawned to my left out of my sight knocks my tiny Orendi character 20 feet off the giant death drop that is Rendain’s boss area.

But it’s not just even a problem with that, even when it was 1 on 1 with rendain lowering his shields at the beginning, I could not use Nullify, it would knock me back off the edge, at least once until I stopped using it.

I also think the Heliophage’s boss rush and minion hell parts in the middle/end were a ridiculous difficulty spike, but I don’t really mind that as much.

I know there are some flying/gliding characters but for a lightweight speedy character like Orendi with no air control skills it’s kind of ridiculous, I had atleast 7 deaths from falling during that whole fight.

Still beat it though, with Silver surprisingly given how much I died (On Advanced as well)

Not sure how her speed is related to this. As far as I know every character gets sent flying all over the place.

I’ve honestly only played Isic, Orendi, and…the german sniper robot butler…yeah idr his name i’m not even gonna google it and pretend, I just fail x3x

But I main Orendi so I’m not sure how other characters deal with the knock back during this fight, I just know I had to desperately change my fighting style because I couldn’t be as mobile in a continuous fight, I had to hit and run to not be over powered and knocked around.

But the fall deaths were ridiculous, so I’m guessing this is a problem with most character in this fight especially.

Like I said I just kinda assumed.

I suggest getting off the middle platform, and fight him with your back facing a wall (as opposed to a massive gaping hole)

Middle platform is where I fought him for all of phase one, didnt even use the jump pads till the boss rush started.
And the suggestion doesn’t matter at this point, I beat it silver on advanced so unless i wanna go hardcore or gold I shouldn’t need to go again.

I found the safest area is the top part of the far right platform, but the minion hell prevents you from being in one area too long.

I’m just saying the drop deaths are cheap, particularly in this fight, I don’t really expect gearbox to go and rework the arena to make it so theres a place to land down there and a way to jump pad up, but just something they should keep in mind with future maps and episodes, because this was frustrating.
Battleborn is the kinda game were any death that wasnt the result of an enemy hitting you in some way feels cheap lol

Though enemies have to hit you for you to fall in those pits. :stuck_out_tongue: (unless you walked off or knocked yourself off into one for whatever reason)

I’m just saying it really takes me out of the game to be launched with fill health and barely any shield damage and realize there’s nothing you can do ;w;

This is literally the only mission I ever had an issue with and only right here XD

I know gearbox has had a lot of final boss complaints over the years, and I think this could have been a good one, but I stopped getting invested after the 3rd time i was launched off the platforms

There are actually jump pads floating in the abyss xD The first time I was knocked into one I thought my game glitched out lol, I was knocked off the map then launched back up and I was so shocked that I froze until I got knocked off again and died lol >.<

2 of the 7 times i fell I saw those lol, i tried so hard to land on them but no <~<

I never hit one though, I mean some decent sized platforms or something, or maybe just in a crevice area with no death falls, but I don’t expect them too, it’d probably be annoying for them to do that just because of this.

They should try to avoid maps with fall deaths in this kind of game in the future though
