it is a top gear weapon from the start, there is no love for it before due to the recharge delay on its shots due to being maliwan.
It is good on group of enemies and since the maliwan takedown have lots of it. 1 shot of the recursion boosted by skills and gears can clear a group.
It is like Bore, Nth Degree, Chain Reaction all rolled into a Gun.

Ahh I see, I tried it out a couple times and wasnt a fan, but maybe I’ll revisit it.

it is basically built in chain reaction that sometimes bounces a lot and you can make good use of it, basically singularity +recursion is a thing, even without it dense spawns all fall victim to recursion and brainstormer, outside of that does not really hit as hard as some other options for single shot.

The biggest reason it’s newly popular is because it’s broken af in the Wotan fight.
Pay special attention to the part where it insta kills “Wotans Better Half”.

Anybody else know if the recursion counts as splash damage? I want to say it does because when I reload the gun and then start firing it at the test dummy, I can see the damage increase for about 1 minute with Mozes Blast Master class mod.
There’s nothing in the gun card or in the gun parts that suggests it deals splash damage though so that’s why i’m not sure

Correct. Some have been using it from the start, even before the Maliwan buffs. It’s just one of those things were eventually people will play more guns. It’s all starts with a few popular YouTubers and eventually everyone just blindly uses it because…
It’s just a good gun in certain situations and the raid just happens to be that situation.

Well it completely ignores Wotans mechanics I call that broken not “just a good gun”. The interaction on Wotan is buggy. You are kidding yourself if you think it’s gotten popular for any other reason then that.

Yes, it does count as splash. You see a major difference when equipping splash dmg increase gear.
Nice - thanks for confirming. Perfect fit for my maliwan splash moze !!

If there are little robots next to him it is amazing. Kill all the little robots and when it’s just him the damage is weak.

No it bounces between his 2 shields and wrecks both ignoring the mechanic of them, then ricochets to the better half and insta kills him. Check the video I posted a few comments up. Has nothing to do with the trash mobs.

Hmmm, so how many times can it ricochet? Is it dependent on the amount of enemies nearby when the projectile is fired, or is it a set number all the time?

really!? i have a 120% splash damage for 18 sec on on moze… interesting.
I was hoping the tsunami and/or mind-killer were also secret splash guns but no luck on those

don’t really follow youtubers, but i’ve always like the gun, but along the same lines, does the projectile bounce around “inside” of Wotan’s shield?
I used to use the Recursion with an Amara ricochet build for Slaughter Shaft runs. It worked well with Ties that Bind. Wait for a large group to get close to each other, pop grasp, and the enemies just exploded.

It’s a set number. 3 ricochets to hit a total of four times, I believe. There are skills like Indiscriminate, Two F4ng, and Playing dirty that can cause more shots/ricochets to happen. It also comes in a x2 variant. Which, while weaker, allows for more interactions with skills like Indiscriminate.

It was initially pretty disappointing but then Maliwan got an across the board damage buff and it got really good.
It’s just taken people time to catch on is all.
To understand this gun, take a fire one into Cistern of Slaughter on M3 and just buff your gun damage a lot. Wait for a dense spawn and then just fire a single shot and watch what happens. How it interacts with the Overkill guardian perk is also just plain crazy.
It’s single target DPS is pretty terrible but when you have multiple targets it gets quite good. If you are up against a densely packed group… It’s amazing.
