Been experiencing freezing of game at least once every day since launch on 3-24-15. Happens during 2 player split screen coop. Only way to get out of freeze is to close application. Extremely frustrating as on restart of game, it reverts to previous last save. Tonight it froze 4 times in about 4-5hrs. We tried putting fan in front of ps4 thinking it could be heat. Did not work. Froze another 2 times afterwards. I gave it the good ol college try, but it is unplayable as is. Sad because it is such a good game.

i already submitted a request to gearbox support but there haven’t been any answers or replys as of yet. I’m just going to copy+paste what I wrote to give you a feel for what I have also had to endure.

My PS3 seems to be freezing very frequently only when I am playing BLTPS and only since I began playing/downloaded the new Claptastic DLC. Happened to me over 7 times already. Usually happens at the worst time; picking up new weapons, opening a chest, when I enter the menu, and/or when adding a player to the game (right when it loads the split screen and character is loaded). It has been SOOOO frustrating! I finally beat eos/shadow trap (final mission in the new dlc) after a 2 day battle (first incarnation of the boss took so long my hands were sore and when I saw that he respawned as another boss I said fuck it and played it the next day) and as I was walking to the exit to turn in it froze. The next time I finished that mission I went to the fast travel to turn in and it froze on the loading screen. I thought it was happening because I left the system on and paused for too long but it just happened again after only paying for about 10 min. Never happened before the claptastic dlc so I assume it has something to do with that. Really hope they fix this and maybe compensate us with some golden keys, shift codes for weapons, or some other loot (in game or irl). I’m playing on ps3 software v 4.70 on game purchased from psstore.

pps. It doesn’t matter if i start the game single player or start split screen happens after a while either way, not just when adding a player.

Second video shows how the whole machine isn’t really frozen, the controller apparently works and I am able to access the ps dashboard, but the game itself is somehow stuck.

It has gotten to the point where I don’t even want to play the game anymore because every time I do, it freezes. Here’s a video showing how it freezes during gameplay. Music keeps playing but ot gets stuck in the inventory menu and in this case the psmenu doesn’t work.

Well i just beat EOS for only the second time, after hours and days of trying, and after i managed to defeat him guess what happened again? Yup. the game froze on me again right after I beat him, when I began collecting my loot (2 legendaries, a billion moonstones, a few glitch weapons, and a couple purples and blues) i picked some stuff up but i don’t think it saved. I’m not even sure if it saved the fact that I actually beat him. I did notice that it is more likely to happen when entering the inventory, but i opened the menu right when i killed him and nothing happened, so i thought i could do it again to drop some stuff to make room for the new loot but that was clearly a mistake. I was kind of making a joke about giving loot as a compensation, but after all the legendary and glitched and high class loot I have seen drop and lost from freezing, it only seems like its fair and the right thing to do.

I received an email from CS asking me to be more specific. I explained it was happening on ps4 during split screen 2 player coop. Seems to happen most when one person dies and starts respawning animation. Game freezes with other person still fighting or sitting idle. It freezes in middle of blue worm hole respawning animation. Same thing with the music still playing.

I have yet to receive another email from CS after the first. Please let me know if you get a response and I will do the same.

This exact thing keeps happening to me too. When we play 2 player split screen on PS4 and one or both of us respawn the entire game freezes and we have to restart at the last save point. i am beyond frustrated with this…

Thank you for your post. I had yet to see someone on this forum confirm they had the exact same issue. I’ll post a response here if or when I get an acknowledgement of the problem from a dev.

this is also happening to my buddy. His girl and him play split screen with i and they freeze sometimes.

I’ve been having the exact same issue. Whenever I play with my roommate, which has only been like two nights so far, it frequently freezes on the blue wormhole animation. I think we’ve had to close the application no less than five times already.

My girlfriend and I have been having the same problem, with the game freezing up during 2-player split screen, to the point we need to close the application and re-open it. It seems to be tied to the respawn animation, though I do think it has happened at other times as well.

Received another email. This time it was from Tommy A. saying that they are aware of the issue and that they were trying to find a fix. Will let you know if they email again. Doubt they will though because I started receiving emails saying they would close/resolve case if they didn’t hear back from me. The email wouldn’t let me respond.

I also got a response from Tommy A. And he told me to clear the game cache or something (which ended up deleting all dlc and stuff so I had to redownload and reinstall everything which took forever and was not fun) which I did to no avail. Tommy mentioned that I reported it happening in the handsome collection which I corrected him on since I’m playing on ps3 from game purchased in psstore, and he never really acknowledged my correction. He said that the dev team have identified the issue but he has no way of knowing their progress. Wait, here; I’ll just post a pic of his response.

As for support, I was contacted by another member of the 2k staff who told me they can’t reimburse me or give me specific weapons (like the legendary I took a pic of :frowning:) but she could compensate me with 30 golden keys. I checked my shift box in Concordia and there were no other keys besides the ones I got from shift codes. I told her I hadn’t received any of these keys and asked her if she needed any of my info to send them to my character/account but I haven’t heard back from her since.

This really sucks because last time I dealt with 2k support they were great; replied promptly and with clarity, we’re understanding, and were generally helpful. I even mentioned to get that she was doing done off the best software support work I have ever encountered, and now it appears that that was a one time deal.

As far as the freezing is concerned, nothing has changed and it appears that more users are encountering this issue. Not a good combo; increase in error with a decrease in support.

Anybody want to test this issue out with online co op play on ps3 my name is mauriceberg, play as Wilhelm level 64. I’ll be open for online play but please don’t snatch any good loot right away, let’s share the wealth and dupe those bad boys for everyone to have.

Well this just happened…again :angry: and this time it was in solo mode. Happened right after ANOTHER different glitch occurred wherein an enemy starts flying away from you into the vast nothingness of space. Right as he went out of view my game froze. Another glitch, another freeze. I almost feel like these glitches and bugs were intentional to give the players a real authentic claptrap experience. Video just shows that the game is indeed frozen and so is the system for that matter (sometimes the game would freeze but I could still bring up the ps menu with the ps button) while playing solo in motherlessboard (can happen in any claptastic level). https://db.tt/H2pSSyfO

Was happy that the off center targeting was fixed and for a bit it seemed that the freezing was too, but now I have to post again. The freezing is still there during 2 player. Usually happens during 1 or both of us going through the worm hole respawn animation but sometimes it can happen just from starting our action skill.

A few more things have come up as well so I wanted to post them here instead of a new topic. For some odd reason my friend can’t run fast. It doesn’t happen all the time and can be fixed by reloading but when it does it is annoying. We have experienced it in Concordia, Triton Flats & Stanton’s Liver. He is playing Nisha and using dual pistols and our gear is pretty much the same so it can’t be a special effect of one of his pieces.

One other thing I noticed when we are playing together me as Aurelia him as Nisha is that when I use my skill contract and he goes to melee I put it away. We either have to time it for his action to come out before I put it up or save and quit. I am not pressing it again or putting it away or anything it just drops when he goes to melee, but when I just push the button I can release and it stays up for like 10 seconds if he isn’t doing anything and then when he tries to sign the contract it gets put away.

P.S. haven’t really read anything about it but when his Nisha has a bladed weapon she still uses her whip to melee. Not sure if this is intentional or glitched. This happens for every melee action too.

I had the same issue occur today while doing the bar fight in the Torgue DLC. I have noticed that I’m more prone to get the game freezes during vertical screen split play while doing any of the DLC. Playing vanilla Borderlands 2 did not seem to cause this bug to occur.

Haven’t heard anything else from Devs guys. The last correspondence was quite awhile ago though. Was hoping last update would fix it as well. This is looking like a larger problem than cant be fixed quickly though. Will let you know if any additional emails. My case may be closed though. Sent me email saying they were working on problem and solutions. Started getting emails afterwords saying “they assumed case was resolved” due to no replies to that email. Went back to try to reply and it wouldn’t let me. Email below.
