PvEers who are curiuos about PvP will try it out even without a carrot on a stick and PvEers who loath PvP will understandably wonder why their are forced to do so.
And why would a PvPer be against offering more ways to unlock all lore challenges, even if it means its easier and outside PvP?
Many lore challenges force you to do certain thing for unlocking which are not the right plays for the team.
For example Whiskey Foxtrott needs to kill Oscar Mike 25 times. Now I go chase him relentlessly in a close PvP match, dieing most of the time even without achieving to kill him, losing the game for my team. You think thats a great thing for everyone involved?
Also one of the virtues of PvP is an even and fair playing field. The sooner everybody can unlock his charās legendary gear, the fairer it will be.
I was a MASSIVE drain on my team trying to get Thorns in air volley kills. Once I was done my k/d DOUBLED. Sure my teams for the night appreciated thatā¦
I donāt see a reason why not. The lore challenges are just fun little background, I donāt see a reason to make them difficult to get. Most of them are either fun little things or actually show you decent ways to play. For example, the lore challenge to play Shayne & Aurox with Reyna, thatās just a good team composition whether youāre doing the lore challenge or not. Again though, I just donāt see them as things worth locking behind a skill barrier. Who cares if people can easily farm bots for the lore challenges? They donāt affect gameplay in any way at all.
Thorn and her air multishot kills disagrees. also, with 25 characters.
also, while in theory with 25 characters the chances are 4% of getting the battlborn you ned to kill on a match, the real math is 0.03% IF (and only IF) there was equal chances to get the character you are aiming at.
but being a ācompetitiveā environment when everyone picks the same 10 guys to have a guaranteed win, i donāt think thereās a chance you are to get those 25 kills like, ever. odd enogh, someone already unlockd all the lore challenges, thereās a 1% on the trophies screen that says that. then again it says 0% have obtained Rank 100, soā¦
i wish you could not only get it from bots, but also bots appearing equally random in matches, and that brings the grinding to that small 4%
I donā't think the lore challenges are all meant to be finished in the week the game comes out. If itās a character you like to play it will happen eventually.
And for the Whiskey Foxtrott lore for killing Oscar Mike, if you enjoy playing him you will unlock it in time. Or find a friend who can help stun and weaken him. I helped get a friend to 10 kills against him in a couple of games.
The same goes for titles, if everyone had all the titles, it would feel less of an accomplishment to unlocking the harder ones.
A fact about this game is that plenty of people got the game for the solo experience (myself included, and Iāve been enjoying it quite a bit). For some of them (myself included), the game runs perfectly well in solo play, and runs acceptably well in co-op as long as it isnāt on Tempest (something there really messes with my framerate, I think itās the skyboxes), and my effectiveness does suffer on the occasion that my framerate does drop, but with 10 different players connected to the same server Iām useless to my team and couldnāt hope to get any of the work done to get the lore challenges. My goal isnāt to easily unlock charactersā legendaries, itās to EVER unlock the legendaries. The lore challenges being achievable through PVP bot play would be a godsend.
Although Iām sure that there are PVP focused players who would much rather focus on PVP than PVE, if they have a machine that can handle PVP, then they can easily go over to PVE. The same is not true of PVE focused players, since their machine can handle the limited scenarios of PVE just fine, but might not be able to handle the PVPās jumping and weaving and large crowds of minions. Also, in a quick glance through the lore challenges (Iām sure I missed some), there appear to be far more PVP exclusive lore challenges than PVE. Almost every character has a PVP challenge, but only a few have PVE exclusive challenges, most of which are very easy (with exceptions of course. That El Dragon ISIC challenge sounds like a nightmare).

From my personal experience, no, you wonāt get the 25 kills in time.
I m level 13 with WF now, finished 3 of 5 lore āchallengesā, with 100 more quick melee kills to go to 500 and 8/25 Oscar Mike kills.
WF is the only character you needs to kill a specific other character, and that 25 times. Most other chars get a āplay 5 games with character X on your teamā, I would happily trade with one of those.
And it happens to be Oscar Mike, one elusive git. The higher I get in command rank, the better the Oscar Mike seem able to make use of their invisibilty for escaping. WF got no stun and any kill securing thing. And choosing his helix upgrade to unstealh someone makes you fooder for the everpresent Raths and Galileas, because you would have to forfeit your push back.

I dont care for achievements, I would love to get the legendary item for my chosen char as easy as all the other classes.
These items are pretty powerful and its unfair for PvP if some chars can unlock their gear so easily compared others.
And some of these achievements are no display of skill, no fun and no rewarding experience would I brag about. To me they are tedious, fun-reducing and sometimes induce behaviour that is counterproductive for the team.
I donāt want to get the legendary item for free, you wonāt see me complain about needing to stab enemies to death 500 times. But killing Oscar Mike 25 times sucks for me, its not in my control and if it continues at that pace, I will achieve it weeks after I have reached max lev with WF and having unlocked the other 4 lore challenges. And I wont be happy to finally have reached it, I will be relieved this torture is over.
And I got 24 other lore/legendary items to unlockā¦
I stand corrected. I flew over the lore unlocks yesterday, must have mistaken it as play games WITH Ambra, which doesnt make sense in hindsight.
Now I cant make up my mind, whats more annoying.
WF having to kill someone who can turn invisible, but is a pretty commonly picked character.
Or Galilea, who is pretty good in securing a kill with her attack while sprinting, while Ambra isnt the most popular after the pre-release nerf.
But Ambra seem to be picking up from my experience the last days, so good luck to all Galilea lore hunters out there : )
I agree completely but thatās based purely on the kill a specific character X amount of times with a specific character.
Now in my experience itās horrendous having to hope the enemy team picks who I need, case in point:
I donāt like the melee playstyle so I decided to get Galelia out of the way (kill Ambra 25 times). Iād never played as her before so she was rank 1, no mutations etc & I was learning to play as I was going along.
Now according to my career stats screen Iāve had 36 PvP matches as her & sheās now rank 11. I have all of her lore finished except for (you guessed it) Ambra kills. In 36 games Iāve had her be on the enemy team 3 times & got 7 kills out of it.
It would be nice to have a more reliable way to get the character specific kill requirements for the lore.
Whiskey Foxtrot has it much easier because almost every game has an Oscar Mike on both teams as heāsaid so popular but for the lesser used characters itās a nightmare.
I have to agree, double the amount you need and let us do thrse challenges in versus private, you want people to enjoy your game not feel dread at the idea of grinding challenges, on top of that it makes no sense you can earn most things on normal mode which is so easy itās ludicrous, but you canāt earn things on private versus
I totally agree. I donāt think the lore challenges should be something super hard to get and many, if not most, arenāt. I mean, look at Montana. His hardest lore challenge is to kill people with lumberjack dash and anyone with any sense will do that challenge in the campaign, not pvp. So I see no issue with letting you do pvp bot matches for lore.
And we grind, and we cried
And we wine and had a really really really bad time
Take my hand, letās have your cash
And remember this moment for the rest of our lives
Our lives, our lives, our lives, our lives
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight
āCause tonightās the night
Am I right?
The PvP in this is terrible for Lore. Kill a specific character, that DOESNāT have PvP Lore mind you, 25 times?!
Hit all 5 enemies Players with an ability? Any 5 Players?
Get a Double Kill with Tobyās Worthless Ultimate?
Troll much GBX?
These are all AWFUL and would be better served being allowed in Solo or PvE. As it is, thereās Lore, which PvE Players tend to care about a lot more than PvP Players ANYWAY, stuck behind an awful PvP experience.
No matchmaking.
Steam rolling characters. (Alani, Montana, and Isic all say āHi Toby!ā)
PuG? Prepare to get rolled by the Pre-Mades that the lack of matchmaking puts you up against.
Agree, I refuse to use Ambra in pvp situations cause I donāt feel like being target #1 on the priority list if they have a Gali on board desperate enough to push into unreasonable circumstances to chase the kill. Already enough stunning and silencing going on with Alani and Rath being fairly OP in meltdown at the moment to add that headache to the mix.

Thatās a very good statement, from my point of view.
Yeah, I agree with this, or even having alternative pathways for PvE and PvP to unlock the lore challenges, like the Character unlocks have alternative methods to unlock.
Itās not like itād be much better if they did allow this anyway. So I donāt think is a ridiculous ask at all.
Youāre still waiting for the bots to choose the character you have to kill 25 times. Youāre still trying to hit 5 characters at once. But the bots arenāt devious, murderous, psychopathic blood spilling machines like your average PvP Player is. So it would make the Lore Challenges a lot more viable for PvE Players.
The way it is now would be like making all those PvE challenges only possible on Advanced Hardcore with a 5 Player team. Then it wouldnāt just be an annoyance for a PvP Player, it would be downright impossible for some. Theyād have to wait until they got a great team, that also cared to let them get their Lore done instead of just winning, and that would carry them while they did less than optimal things in many cases to accomplish that Lore Challenge. Sound familiar?
So maybe if we canāt get PvP challenges done against bots, we should ask that PvE challenges become like that. Fair is fair, right?
Or maybe the PvP challenges are just a bad design decision that needs to be rectified altogether.
