I know I sound like a philistine, but I’ve just never got on with the taste. On the occasions I’ve been given a glass of really, really good wine, I’ve found it pretty wonderful… but cheap Northern universities don’t give you access to that kind of thing
And when I’m in the shops I have no idea what to go for, so I usually go with Peroni or Stella.

Giuvito is a local expert. I’m sure he could point you in the right direction.

Stella?
#STELLA!!!
There are much better beers to be had in the north than that. Stella is… well, it’s not quite Coors Light, but it’s pretty close. Hmm. Is there a “Beer Snobs” thread?

That stuff is like malt soda, kind of refreshing to be honest.

I’m not a beer snob… I much prefer a cool lager to the posh or obscure ales that England, particularly the South West where I grew up, is flooded with.

Ever had a Radler? Grapefruit beer, which sounds terrible but is actually really pleasant and VERY refreshing.

Same!! Got me some dark looks whenever I ordered it in Dublin. “Three Guinness … and a Heineken”
Which apparently I did quite a lot since I literally just opened a book and this fell out

Is that in Euros? Seems a bit pricey for half of Heineken.

Actually a true Radler is a mix of beer and lemonade (often Sprite or Fanta). Love that stuff. Though I´m not a big beer-fan, theres no way to escape it in Germany.
I can highly recommend “Porter” and “Tuborg”, second is a danish beer I think. Faxe is awesome too. My very fav is Kilkenny though.
Btw, here´s a beer-thread

Honestly.
Wine is 100% about your market and your knowledge. I drink my own stock to a silly degree, with the ever present excuse of learning my own stock.
Some companies comp a bottle for tastings and personal use.
During my average wine tasting, we go through at least 3 bottles. So I usually save them for me to drink. Nearly 80% are out of my own inventory.

Oh yeah, Chilean wines are everywhere. No idea if they’re any good. Spanish wines have a bad reputation here.
