Random Talk Thread, Mk. III

Fully agree (and laughing hard).

Just still shocked.

CK’s one of my very faves.

But, ever since watching the brilliant documentary Comedian a long time ago, among others such as The Aristocrats, etc, I have known that most comedians are pretty damn damaged / messed up / depressed / fraught up with hang ups & neuroses / what have you.

Genius is close to madness, as the saying goes!

So my thing is that this obviously was premeditated since it happened multiple times. He can’t claim he was drunk or something. He invited those women over to jerk it in front of them, but he didn’t tell them that over the phone because the knew they would say no. “Hey girl wanna come watch me jerk it?” isn’t the best line. He waited until he had them in a compromising situation and then laid the proposition out in a way that it would be a joke if they said no. He is a comedian after all, but I’m not sure how someone can make “Hey can I jerk it in front of you” funny.

Yeah, man, well said.

As another note “come over to my hotel room” isn’t quite the magic code for comedians that it is other people. Keep in mind these people often collaborate together, bounce bits/jokes off of each other, and they do this when they run into each other on the road. The hotel room kind of becomes your office/home and party space.

Yeah, makes sense!

No, just that

  1. I made the mistake of judging a book by its cover, simply because I thought he was okay in “Waterboy” and I needed to kill time – hence, why I was CPT Solo at the movies. The starring actor/actress does not necessarily mean the movie’s gonna be great.
  2. I made the mistake of seeing a movie about something that hits a little too close to home.
  3. Jack Nicholson was far from funny; in fact, he was a total dick.
  4. He wasn’t the only dick. You remember this scene? This is the exact part where I got disgusted enough to walk out:

Worst $5 (I think it was at the time?) that I ever spent.

NOTE: The sad thing is, what he got from that flight crew – however fictional – is now a lot more real than you might think, and not just from airline crew.

Cosbygate?

:face_with_raised_eyebrow: What’s that stand for? ‘For The F*** You’?

I’m guessing it’s probably more ‘Indecent explosure’.

Yeah I figured out that rather than dopesheets I can also use graphs to edit out timing, here I’ll show you

This is with dopesheets (General Timing for animation and keyframes)

And this is with the graph editor

The blue line represents the Z Axis location of the cube and the speed at which it falls, I made it sharper the longer it goes leading to a quicker fall the longer it was in the air, if you ever want to see the finish let me know, it’s super simple but it’s just for principles of animation and it’s the first 3-D thing I’ve ever done

Aiyee! Bad enough having to figure out 3D, but the dopesheet looks like a nopesheet to me!

Haha definitely, you have no idea how pro 2-D I am friend, I would much rather draw out frames rather than do this bs but I figured I should atleast broaden my horizons a little bit.

Also dopesheets are in 2-D aswell  I had to do them for my traditional animation project
Learned that from the professionals

So much this Arsonist.

I am sick of sexual harassment, I’m sick of excuses for it, and I’m sick of debates in the media about whether women and indeed men get to feel wronged. It’s wrong.

Yeah, I discovered that when I started playing with Tumult Hype. Thinking about it, they were there in Flash too, but they were much easier to navigate (and ignore if needed). I just find the presentation (Tumult does it the same way as Blender) rather intimidating.

I promise I’m trying not to harp on this, but CK released a statement today-

On it’s face I have to say this is… pretty easily the best public apology I’ve seen from anyone trying to make statements about past horrible actions. He doesn’t absolve himself, apologizes, confirms the story, confirms the abuse of power… it’s pretty telling.

That being said, I’m biased because… well, I want CK to be an earnest guy that’s made mistakes.

My only qualms about it is that right now we don’t have any stories after 09, which means one of three things.

  1. He had a come to jesus moment and quit being an ■■■■■■■.
  2. He was starting to get big and a publicist told him to quit being an ■■■■■■■.
  3. He got more power and knew no one after that time would say anything because he was a powerful ■■■■■■■.

Time will tell which of those is true, but… it was a solid statement.

Edit: It’s worth noting that he had previously denied the rumors that I discussed earlier too so… yeah. Really. Time will tell.

I’m glad he admitted it, not because it reflects well on him - I’m disgusted and have little room for anything else (despite liking a lot of his work up to now) - but because it might work to shift the idea that women who accuse people of assault / harassment are attention seeking, or opportunists, or liars. It’s important that people are innocent until proven guilty if they deny accusations, but women who make such claims need to be taken very seriously. I don’t care much about the fate of a man who would treat people in this way, but I’m glad he didn’t lie here, which may begin to give those women some of the dignity they were denied at the time.

Truly well said, Hattie!

@arsonist

Thank you so much for posting that!

For sure this, a lot.

I think CK hits a lot of the younger generations more than the Cosby stuff did, and for him to come out an own it is a get in the right direction.

As a special aside… hattie is 100% right here -there’s not a lot of room to accuse any person (man, woman, trans, intergalatic space traveler) of being an opportunist in these situations. I really hate that ■■■■. There’s usually not a huge monetary gain for those involved (as many are wont to believe), so really all they’re doing is telling their story about ■■■■■■ things that happened to them. I’m not here to tell you that anyone of any gender, race, creed, or religion can’t or wont be an ■■■■■■■, because there’s all of human history to prove that wrong, but I promise guys, where there’s smoke, most of the time there’s fire. A recent situation at work had to remind me of this sad, stupid fact.
