Random Talk Thread, Mk. III

I had to toss an old micro USB cord because it was causing my Galaxy Note 4 to go into a boot loop.

It was a cheap cord that my dad bought from Amazon a few years ago.

“Wake up DaydreamTracer!
Oh what does it mean to be a
Time-shifting cadet and an
Overwatch teen!”

(We’ll know how old people are by whether they know the song and can name the TV show…)

Heh, can’t stand that band

The TV show was fun as a kid, but they only really have 3 decent songs - the one referenced there and “Last Train”. Listening to the rest of the album those are on is a bit painful. And the one from the Shrek movie (although I preferred Donkey’s cover to the original!)

@Hattie and @VaultHunter101,

My username: “DaydreamTracer” is a combination of “Daydream Shimmer” from the third Equestria Girls movie: “The Friendship Games”.

and obviously, Tracer from Overwatch.

I know the '60s have this reputation as time of amazing counterculture but a lot of the more successful music from that time seems incredibly mainstream and generic… them included

Well it does, until you compare it to the bulk of the earlier stuff from the 1950s. And then again to the 1940s. All that stuff was pretty revolutionary in comparison.

Being a milennial has it’s problems but I’m glad I missed the fifties. And to be honest I don’t lust after the sixties much either. 1970s though… wouldn’t mind a time travel machine for some of that cultural experience.

Then, thankfully, Black Sabbath showed up, and musically destroyed most of the hippies lol.

I’m fond of music from the 70’s and 80’s.

Mostly because of my dad.

My dad has weird taste in music. Like, weirdly specific. So he likes Beethoven, but only particular performances of it that go at unorthodox speeds and such. And he likes The Beatles but only the weird ‘double white’ album they made when they were falling apart. I let him buy his own music :stuck_out_tongue:

My family says the same about me, they call my music playlist bi polar as it pretty much has everything but country. I’ll let them borrow my phone to listen to music and they complain about listening to something like slipknot one minute and then the next they’ll hear a German satire from wolfenstein. Which… they don’t like apperently

I hear you, I tend to be musically omnivorous as well. There’s a lot of good music out there, no need to care much about the genre.
