Random Talk Thread, Mk. III

Drinking that tea is an act of redemptive suffering, a just punishment for what the British have done to the world at large. Every time they sip from that accursed cup they are paying penance for the terror they have visited upon this earth

It was quite an amusing read, I’ll need to clip some bits for later Hattie hectoring

I never put milk in my tea. I mostly drink Earl Grey and I put honey in it.

But I have had milk with tea before at a friend’s house a couple of years ago with their other grandmother.

I’m with you there. Never understood the milk thing, maybe it’s just be being used to the strong flavor of coffee but tea simply isn’t bitter enough to need it

I knew it was a bad idea to let those postcolonial types have newspapers

Tea without milk - especially cheaper teas - tastes too bitter and ashy for me. I even put milk in earl grey, which is sacrilege…

What you’re experiencing is the aftertaste of colonialism

No kidding I… actually analysed a description of bitter ashy tasting tea as part of a commentary on the dying of the postcolonial light in 1920s Ireland… :flushed:

This is the most Hattie thing you’ve ever written

I admit the point was teasing out the… nuances within the story, but I did once write about 2000 words on the use of one word by Shakespeare, so it could be worse

She doesn’t know any backstory yet

Well you live in England, Where in the future they have rights for robots or Omnics.

OK, so I know a few of you love posting memes from “The Room”. Thought you’d enjoy the trailer for the feature on the making of that movie:

@FunkJunkie, @Hattie: further to the whole anglo-franco thing from the other day, I just found this little snippet in an article about the latest language brouhaha in Montreal:

(Taken from here)

So, “Franglophone” - someone who speaks or is partial to Franglais, I presume!
