And FOV - that changed everything for me. Everything feels smoother, less clunky. The added content is whatever, but it’s free so I can’t complain.

I can’t do 70 FOV in the next Borderlands like the previous console ports. It’s got to be better than that… 90 or 100 like in Far Cry 4-5 would be fine. This one has 120, and I do 110-115, so that’s awesome.
Minimap looks a lot like Borderlands 2, which is kinda perfect, out of all the features.

I’d say it’s shaping up to be a very comfortable way to play through the story. I have issues with loot, but that’s cause I’m fussy about BL1 loot. If that won’t bother you, I’d check it out!

I’ve been enjoying the experience, but I also have to concede that I’m an insufferable BL1 purist. Overall, everything definitely feels smoother, I’d say there’s a significant improvement on the jank in gunplay. Hopping between OG BL1 and the Remaster, I’m noticing that shots that would simply not land in BL1, land in the Remaster.

All that said, I’m one of those insufferable BL1 people, so I have my gripes about it not being exactly the way I liked it before.
To be quick about it:

Things I don't like about the BL1 Remaster because I am an old cranky no-fun doo doo head

The new backpack and vendor UI.
Some gun materials look much less pretty than they used to.
Guns on guncards generally look not-good
What did you do to Hyperion mat3, seriously you look just like mat1 am I missing something here why do you look like that are you ok?
The new legendaries have fixed parts. Not a big deal, just a shame they don’t have any farmability once you get one.

Overall, it’s really nice to play. I think for the time being I’ll return to BL1 for my standard late-game farming. That said, I am really looking forward to leveling up new characters on the Remaster.

The big thing that peeved me was comparing guns. In OG BL1, you hover over your Defiler and hit the compare button. It then immediately organizes your inventory by weapon type and compares it to the same weapon class, so I’d be comparing my Defiler with my other revolvers with like ~3 key presses. In the Remaster it just compares to your full weapons list, organized by rarity. I might need to check if you can sort while comparing which would help.

The worst part is comparing COMs. You hit compare, and it pulls up the top of your weapons inventory. So you scroll down, all the way through your weapons to get to your COMs. It just takes so much more time.

The spacebar ammo buy is amazing though, I won’t dare deny that.

Yeah I never did any of that, then again I mostly played BL1 to be one of the cool kids.

I tend to disagree but… yeah that’s me.

Anyway, I still don’t get BL1 like you guys do. It’s fun and I still think is the most fun to play drunk, but there are things (sniper sway) that drive me batshit insane and I get distracted by all the desert. This looks prettier and I can ammo up with one button, so I like it!

If they made it like the BL2 one, then you should indeed be able to change the sort order for the comparison list. Still haven’t had a chance to fire up my copy for the first time though! (Almost typed ‘Crack my copy open’ then realised that might be misinterpreted…)

Man I remember when that whole thing started I remember saying “hey doesn’t it make sense that you need the shattering accessory to get the shattering prefix?”

Then we debated that point for years.

Also, member the secondary forum we had for a bit? The gun vault I think? Weird times.

Quick remaster question. Is the Thanatos still white rarity? Or did they fix that in the original at some point? What about the Penetrator & Draco? Are they still just purple?

A long time ago on a server far, far away kiddo.

There were two actually I think. Ours that was for cataloging the “best” rolls for everything and another one that got made because a dude got banned for threatening mods or something like that.
