On point. Ooon… point.

I just changed it!
I only change my avatar once a month just so you know.
Anyways, I’m watching a movie called “Delgo”. I remember seeing at least one or two commercials for it back then and it’s weird.
Goggles are quite fashionable:

Can’t go wrong with those…
Not that I can complain, m’girl Chandra seems to think they’re pretty nifty.
I’m at a loss for the rest of the night, methinks. I’m still a bit hyped from the coffee I hit earlier, but have choice little to hit up for a bit. Only thing I can think of is setting up a want list for trades
What do you guys do to kill time while killing time here?
Eye don’t see how we got on topic:goggles. A-halp.
Well, that was a weird movie.
At least the score and the environments were good.
But all in all, It’s just your run-of-the-mill late 2000’s CGI family flick that features an all star cast.
Well. I found something to do. It’s not any less nerdy, but I’ve got it.
Been leveling up my sorcerer for my LGS stuff. I’ve got everything taken care of except my new spells. I kind of hit a wall at 4th/5th level spells, not that a bunch of them aren’t ■■■■■■■ great (they are), but very few of them are “on brand” for my storm sorcerer who is all abouts that lightning and thunder.
Here are my options so far-
Mage Armor - I’ve been leaving it off for awhile, half because it’s off brand, half because I thought I’d only get +2 AC from it (I’d get +3, from 12 to 15), so it could be useful considering I haven’t invested a lot in other defensive abilities. I’ve been relying on my storm riders and shocking grasp to get around without people hitting me, and I’ve got thunderstep when ■■■■ really hits the fan. We’ve got a large group so I haven’t been targeted with a lot yet, but it could still be useful.
Synaptic Staic - AOE Save or suck for 8d6 psychic damage, which is off brand. RP wise it’d be me sending electricity directly into their brains an tossing them off, but… it’s a good spell, but it doesn’t feel great.
Control Winds - isn’t bad, and is on brand, but is way more situational than I like for a 5th level spell. On the plus side, it gives me something to use my “control the direction of the wind” feature on.
Cone of Cold/Ice Storm/Sleet Storm - On brand, and each has heir own uses, but doesn’t hit my riders and I already having damage and some crowd control.
Dust Devil/Thunderwave - Gives me another aoe damage option in a different shape, and both add different levels of enemy control by throwing them around. (Edit: Both are also on brand and thunderwave hits my riders).
Counterspell - Off Brand, but horribly useful if we go up against a caster
What do you guys think?
Edit: DnD Lingo explination
“On Brand” for me means that it has some kind of elemental storm angle, which is what I’m trying to keep this sorcerer on.
“hits/doesn’t hit my riders” - As a storm sorcerer, I have a lot of innate abilities that trigger for me at certain times, usually on casting a spell that deals lightning or thunder damage.
So if I say that dust devil is an on brand spell that doesn’t hit my riders, it’s because it has to do with wind/storms, but does not trigger my extra abilities.
Ooh, talk nerdy to me!
Would be my favourite. On brand and useful. Your storm sorcerer should be able to uhm control winds…
Mage Armor: from what you posted about that character it doesn’t click. Lightning! Storm! …wait a second while I put on my armor… not really, don’t ya think?
Counterspell - useful, of course. But fitting with your style?
See he has an ability to control the direction of wind naturally (the useful thing here is creating the wind, which he can’t do), and while I like the spell flavor wise… its actual uses aren’t great. There’s two modes that limit ranged attacks, one that lets creatures jump farther, and one that can ground flying creatures. It’s not bad utility. It’s not. But it’s at a fifth level spell slot, which is my highest currently. You typically don’t want those big dogs to be that situational, and it’s a big cost in battle for what may be just… nothing.
Doesn’t completely fit… but the game is kind of designed around most spellcasters having it. To put it in perspective, the druid and the cleric, two of our other squishiest have 14 and 16’s on AC, while I have my pisspoor 12 with my sad, sad d6 hit dice (means my HP is loooow). RP wise i’d be playing it off as a swirling vortex of wind around me disrupting attacks or letting me dodge. It’s a testament to how mobile my spec is that I’ve only went down once and never died, but it’d be a good get.
Again, RP wise it’d be a gust of wind interrupting the casters concentration and making them fizzle the spell. Depending on how bad the spell is, this could save not just me, but the entire party and it benefits from being cast at higher levels. If it stops a massive aoe, I’ve probably taken hundreds of damage off the table in one move. If we’re getting trounced by a melee dude, not so much.
Good selling point. Of course it’s useful, never doubted that. I’m just going with the on-brand stuff… I’ll admit, that considering what is best for the whole group you can’t beat Counterspell. DnD being a quite high magic world it would make lots of sense to be prepared for an enemy caster.
Listen, in the end it’s your decision, so if you know how to roleplay the spell (which you do) just go with it.
You want hitpoints? Try this:
I already have a halfling 2h dex fighter in another game. I assure you, I’ve collected many a shin-skin.
■■■■■■■’s a blender…
OH GOD IT’S HAPPENING
Thigh know, right?
Seems like I’ve been here before.
Seems so familiar.
Seems like I’m slipping
into a dream within a dream.
(I am hoping this means a concert tour is on its way.
)
The one time I played dnd, I specialized in using prestidigitation to the maximum of its abilities. Like making a carnivore’s mouth taste like salad causing it to stagger in confusion which gave out barbarian an attack of opportunity or vomitting on a goblin and making the vomit smell like elf pudding so the other goblins piled on him in hungry stupor.
So. 92 degrees Fahrenheit. I am not best pleased. Where in the world did my spring go?
Welp. I need to get food and drink for the night. Past that it looks to be like a lot of time killing through work and then a few hours in the morn before I can start drinking.
Any thoughts for mild activities? I think I got all my nerd stuff finished.
