It’s true on all days where the date is not exactly divisible by 2.
Even then, I tend to feel odd…
December! What a great month to start flowering again!
Not so odd for heather but the forsythia clearly didn’t get the memo there was hard frost this morning.
Mule : these crab apples sure look nice against the blue sky
Well, my Christmas cactus has finally began to bloom, thankfully it usually continues for quite a while, still seems a touch late though.
Ours is in full swing too. And we had snow on this, the first day in December. A bit messy out there…
Weather here is cold and clear, not something I’m fond of generally. Supposed to stay that way for a few days too.
Annual Security and Ethics trainings suuuuuuck.
So: ongoing figure painting and BL-inspired terrain (which is helping me to retain a semblance of sanity) for Star Breach
Those are really cool. What scale are you building in?
One thing that seems to be missing there is a dumpster, for great diving. Also, not seeing any Atlas or Dahl infrastructure to speak of - those red and white girders/beams are pretty distinctive.
The Fyrestone water tower should be possible, no?
Nice!
Those crescent-shaped girders (seem like rocket ship ribs, with the weight-saving holes cut out) that stick up out of the ground have been a staple of Pandora across all franchises (and they should be relatively simple to craft).
Good call. Pretty sure I’ve seen pics of someone building the spaceship carcass just out of card, it should be doable.
28mm scale Dumpsters are on order…I’ve got skulls, tyres, and barrels. Water tower should be simple enough… I’m restricting myself to a fairly limited colour palette but Atlas and Dahl do fit.
28 mm to the foot, or something else?
@VaultHunter101 Something else. Some explaining for the non-wargamers: wargaming miniatures are described by the height (in millimetres) of a figure representing someone about 6 feet tall, rather than by an absolute ratio. 28mm is typically used for tabletop role-playing (Dungeons and Dragons) and many wargames (Warhammer 40K) or skirmish games like Star Breach (15mm and 6mm are more common for large mass battle games with higher troop counts). It does vary quite a lot by manufacturer- Games Workshop figures have been steadily increasing in size from a very traditional 1 actual inch in the 1980s, to now, where 32mm is the height of their ‘standard’ figure. This roughly equates to around 1:56 or 1:64 scale, where 28mm to 32mmm represents 6 feet…
I feel like I’ve mangled that a bit, edited muchly.
TL:DR The figures in my pics are just over an inch tall.
Oh lord. I came across this while trying to remember the name of a particular Vancouver band (one of their songs popped into my head).
Yep. Pretty much exactly that
Still can’t remember the name of that band. Despite having played gigs with them, partied with them, slept at their band house and their guitar player was one of my best friends…
The song was called Malt Shop though.
So 28 mm / 6 ft or about 4.7 mm/ft - a bit bigger than ‘OO’ scale, but close enough that one of the larger model railway water towers could probably be used reasonably well. (Especially since the one in Fyrestone is not that high anyway.)
Dang. Now I want to pull out my tool kit and parts and make something, but I have absolutely nowhere to do this atm.
00 scale sometimes works with 28mm figures but often, not well. I’m making the vast majority of this stuff out of rubbish or recycling. A small snack-size Pringles can is where I’ll start, mdf card for the struts etc…and while I’m on the subject of pringles, here’s the work in progress on that dice tower:
Fixed that for you, but it looks great. I’m bad at the painty bits of tabletops
