But seriously what should I expect.
@0takuMetalhead Low expectations. Stick with them, and less room for disappointment.
Depends what you’re playing. Casual, around the table stuff can get pricey if your play group starts a cold war of escalation. If not, its pretty cheap.
Friday Night Magic (Standard) is the cheapest, probably easiest to get in format. You can usually play with about 40-80 dollars worth of deck, but you can see decks that range into the 200-300 range.
Modern has cards that runs back about 10-14 years. Usually those will range 200-600.
Legacy… is legacy. Usually around 1000, but meh.
After you get a decent run of the rules (and if your group is into it) I personally recommend the Commander/Everlasting Dragon Highlander (EDH) format. You play with 100 card decks and are only allowed one of any card aside from basic lands. Its really fun, casual and can be cheap.
Yeah I’m doing FNM tomorrow with my $20 starter deck and a few boosters. I don’t think it’s too bad. I beat a guy that had one of those fancy-ass planeswalker cards with it.
Good luck. Standard is weird as hell right now because it consists of one set that rewards you for being mono colored (Theros) and one set that is based on three color enemy wedges. Just make sure your deck has a very real purpose and every card in it has something it can contribute to that purpose. Oh, and unless you are mono colored and don’t have any cards above like 4 CMC, have 24 lands.
Well Theros is the one I picked up so I guess I got lucky? Idk it works pretty well. Nobody I played had any spell block (or whatever y’all nerds call it) and I’d just play Pacifism on their expensive monsters and they’d be useless the whole game. Also I have some guy who would banish a creature as long as he’s in the field and another spell card that banishes creatures until they dispel it. Basically I just got a buncha ■■■■ that makes their creatures useless.
Edit: Also what’s a CMC? Combined mana cost? I got one that costs 5 that I got in a booster pack that fits in my deck.
CMC is Converted Mana Cost. Basically its the total mana a card costs. For instance a card that costs 3 colorless and two red would be described online as 3RR with a CMC of 5.
Sounds like the newer version of Banisher priest. Seems like at least partially white control. You’ve chosen well! W/U control is my least favorite type of deck to play/with against, but it’s horribly effective.
Yup that’s the one I think. Every game I’ve played so far I’ve gotten too many lands or too many other cards. I gotta draw better and find the right balance.
Likely the deck will need tweaking to get optimal as is. Like I said, it should have a purpose and everything in it should contribute to that purpose in some way shape or form. If you’re playing control, drawing a lot of land isn’t necessarily bad.
I still didn’t receive the autobiographer badge. I even uploaded images to the profile. What the hell.
Well apparently you need to fill more than 1 line of text in the “About me” box to receive the badge. About the “delay” some people were saying, there’s no delay at all. Badges are instant. It just takes a few seconds to receive the notification.
There where delays back in the testing days which is why some of ous say that might be the problem.
The delays might be fixed now though.
Hello peeps
Heya there fella.

There most certainly have been delays in badges. There is also a occasional problem where Ill lose a badge randomly and itll come back a day later.
I just got through talking to someone who isnt receiving the “reader” badge despite having read threads containing more than 100 replies. It hasnt been given to him, its not on his profile.
The system isnt perfect.
Confirmed, still don’t have Reader.
I agree.
Anyway, bought Far Cry 4, a blurb on the box states that it allows co-op without the other person having to own the game. Interesting.
