Cassie Cage is a lot alike Johnny Cage (who’s name I may have just botched) in that she’s a big ball of references. Ol’ J is the stereotypical 90’s action hero type. Cassie operates in that same thematic vein, being a walking parody of current cultural trends wrapped up in stereotypical “tough girl”.
Where’s mah shakin’ cane so I can yell at you to git offa mah damn lawn right proper? Owait, there the ol’ gal is.
Shakes cane at you.
Git offa mah lawn you darned whipper snapper
I wonder how much I should be laughing in that I immediately recognized them by name as soon as I hit play on the video. Listening to assorted random Japanese music has its “perks”? I suppose.
BABYMETAL isn’t my cup of tea really, never liked their stuff. But I listen to other odd and or obscure J-rock / J-pop on occasion. I actually blame my absurdly good memory for this stuff. Getting to a point where I know every beat, every word and all of any given song causes that song to swiftly become annoying to me.
Seeing as I don’t speak a lick of Japanese in any practical sense, memorizing these types of things is much more difficult.
This is my kind of Japanese music
If we are really going to talk about japanese bands, my picks are easy:
Dir en Grey, Nana Kitade and The Gazette. There are more but these are my main picks.
There aren’t many Japanese bands I like. I really like Melt Banana because they’re the band that can almost satisfy my insatiable craving for noise. The other Japanese artist I like is Nic Endo, but she’s actually half-Japanese half-German and from Texas, so I’m not sure how much that actually counts…
Bands like Melt-Banana aren’t my thing really.
sigh
On paper I should really like Deus Ex Human Revolution, but it is the second time already (owned it for the 360 first) that I got bored of it a few hours in…
I liked the instrument side of that Melt-Banana track you posted, but the vocals didn’t quite jive with me. Then out of curiosity’s sake I typed Nic Endo into youtube and clicked on something at random…
I actually thought that either my speakers had just broken or the video was messed up. Shortly thereafter realized otherwise
Definitely interesting/unexpected to say the least.
Most of the stuff I generally dig is somehow linked to either some video game or an anime. Though in many cases I’ll own an album of something and like some specific track a bit more, only to find out months later that said track actually is the opening to an anime I’d never heard of. Eir Aoi is a textbook example of that, never realized any of her stuff was anime at all at first. I’ve come to realize that she’s got quite a few openings to her name across a handful of different anime.
So I was gonna post this one mellow track with Japanese vocals I dig, but I’ve come to find it’s been purged from Youtube because that just happens from time to time. During this moment of lostness, for reasons I can’t understand, GGXrd popped into my head and I realized I’d never actually checked into its soundtrack before. So

Not… particularly Japanese. But whatever.
Then I subsequently remembered how I’ve managed to hobble together searches for Japanese stuff on Youtube before and
found the track I’d been looking for initially. The original upload done by the guy who sang it is gone, but others exist because Youtube. I spend a strange amount of time clicking links to things I don’t even slightly understand. Sometimes it turns out well.
Yo, Splatoon is very good #splatroller4lyf
SPLATOOOOOOON
I actually might pick this up on release.
Statins? I vaguely recall a study showing long term benefits, but a risky drug type.
Yeeeee
Or
Wow, em el gee.
