@TemetNosce Going into an emphasis in it security a lot of the courses will be about hands on hacking and cracking. More power the faster I break in and the better the grade.

@Astrobleme I must admit, my familiarity with the subject is low, but it would seem like itā€™d involve more than brute-force cracking. Albeit, Iā€™ve read a few articles on the increasing need to use longer passwords due to the speed at which they can be broken now, so I suppose brute-force may be increasingly relevant in general. Regardless, interesting topic, luck with it.

@TemetNosce You would be correct. There are more techniques than just brute force. I read an article where some guy daisy chained about 27 r9 290ā€™s together and was using the rig to crack 1,600,000 password every 60 seconds.

Iā€™m only at the 200 level courses now which is mostly brute force. No idea what the advanced security classes go over. I spoke with the President of the campus computer club and mentioned what I was looking for to get a good start into this field. He went over his specs with what he used to compete in a national competition for hacking. Told him what I was looking at getting. Could almost open a jam factory with all the jelly in the room. Should be good to go.

Has anyone found a way to change the background of the text box in your profile? Because of my picture the text there is rather difficult to read.

No, there is no way to change the text box color unfortunately. I ran into this problem too when trying to add my v.b signature to the background there, but it just obstructed the text and looked too sloppy.

The only way to fix this is to either edit the image you want to use so that it flows better with the text on your profile, use a different image that works with it, or just leave the background blank.

Didnā€™t even try to set my known signature as background on the profile, intead I just used a random image. However, I think Iā€™ll try to see how it looks.

Edit: Gave it a shot, was badly cropped but I expected worseā€¦

If one is going to want to use their signature from the other forums as the background for their profile here, it would be ideal to use a larger version of the sig.
Uploading the 620 x 150 image here would result in it looking fuzzy and cropped.

Maybe Mirror would have a bigger one available for you to try out.
