I figured. Wish I could talk her out of it, but it’s ‘only’ 40 bucks. Aw well.

I’ve heard of lightning strikes with better odds than those two

Depending on how you prefer to calculate it apparently the lifetime chance is either 1 in 3,000 or 1 in 12,000. So yes, the odds of being struck by lightning twice are still better than winning that particular gamble.

Being one of the few dozen people to have the worst luck is horrible

Might be faked.

The one person who gets that lottery is probably set for life though. Having that much money would make life boring.

From vague recollection, the last study I recall cited on that said that people actually tend to enjoy similar % increases in their wealth more the more money they have. Admittedly, I read that years ago though and can’t recall the methodology. Still, I doubt being able to do something like start your own game company would be boring. I mean really, can you call whatever it is you do for money the most fulfilling thing you could be doing with your time? Yeah though, that is a ■■■■■■■ lot of money, even after you factor it down to what’s leftover in immediate payout.

What’s the difference between a freeNAS machine and just a regular old Plex server?

I guess I could just google it.

Also @TemetNosce @Gigan @LotteryChat not 100% relevant, but an interesting post on lottery winners: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/24vzgl/you_just_won_a_656_million_dollar_lottery_what_do/chba4bf

Well I feel a whole lot better now. For a second I was really worried.

I’m finally done with Tomb Raider…

You know NAS drives, right? I have computer dedicated to that, and it runs a Plex Media Server on the side.

I didn’t but now I do. Seems like exactly what I need. Looking at this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FWURI8K/ref=asc_df_B00FWURI8K4092391?smid=A2I4D0WO1JEMBA&tag=cnetmp15-20&linkCode=df0&creative=395105&creativeASIN=B00FWURI8K

Not quite, no. FreeNAS. You gotta set up a real computer for it. It really only requires integrated graphics and a somewhat ok processor for Plex. Nothing too demanding, honestly.

hey whats up guys!

It been awhile since I last posted on the old forum. What have changed?

Nowadays I really dont game much anymore. I still do like high end computer stuff but moved on to laptops. Which I managed to brick the sBIOS of my newest purchase :disappointed_relieved:.

I do spend a lot of time studying unfortunately. So not much times for games anyways. Nowadays I probably will spend more time doing matlab than games.

^NAS? For a media drive right? That could be useful if you have a lot of movies to watch on tv.

Yep. I really do like my FreeNAS machine. I basically took an older, crappy HP Pavilion desktop, lopped all my spare hard drives and RAM in it, and set up the software.

Ah software, gotcha. Do you think the hardware I listed would be fine for Plex? I’m a bit worried about the CPU since it doesn’t even list specs for it…

Hey Testier! Long time no see. Been wondering why I haven’t seen you much on steam.

Oh, the CPU is much more than what’s needed. You really don’t know how slow an AMD Phenom x4 @2.2GHz is.

I know it doesn’t require much, but no specs at all is a bit worrisome haha…

Yeah. Also, I think I’m pretty lucky. FreeNAS is said to not work well on an AMD CPU, but it seems to work just fine for me.

From a look over that seems like solid advice. Yeah though, that’s another fair point about the lottery, winning will not necessarily turn out well.

Pretty much the same since we last talked. Good to see you on here though, surprised me.
