Mr Torgueâs Bingo Boom
Biggest concern was a similar situation like what Happened to Battleborn is all @Psychichazard the game wasnât all that bad just too much around Overwatch. And with the area with which Borderlands was pretty much standing alone is now not so much having that too themselves. That was all I was implying. But yeah it would be nice to see something a lot of folks were wanting a trailer heck I just wouldâve been fine just hearing him talk about it. Nonetheless the whole movie bit Iâd have not bothered with, as the history of games to movies really hasnât been good one as I priorly stated.
But anyway, didnât mean to seem like I was ranting just voicing a concern was all I am saying.
Understood.
I just think itâs a little early for anyone to get worried. Itâs gonna happen, and itâs gonna be great.
People will have their own expectations, ofc. Will it be âtoo differentâ or âtoo similarâ? Too innovative or not a step forward for the franchise? Thereâs always going to be people with enough negativity to ruin their own fun.
If the movie works out, thatâd be cool too!
Battleborn is an already up, running, and developed IP, sure if they went ahead and said; A & B changes are coming, it wouldâve sounded less like news and more like patch notes. In regards to DLC; if any were to be coming, in the middle of an interview at E3, with no proper presentation, wouldâve been the worst time to announce it.
Iâll be honest, I follow E3 with the same detached concern that I do the standings of Football Leagues I am not particularly interested in, so I donât really know the protocol.
What I do have an inkling of, is human nature.
Had Randy brought up a tidbit on the developments of BB youâd be hearing; âOh! More vague promises!â & âBoo shameless plug.â Regardless of what he said.
If Mr. Keighley (sp?) had done so (or any journalist for that matter), even in the most benign way, paramount to; âHowâre things coming along with Battleborn?â Youâd see every C Rank gaming publications writing;
âRandy immolated at the gates of the City of Dis by belligerent journo.â
I think this is more a display of professional experience from a CEO and a journalist. The journalist asked questions he knew would draw in new viewership, or would be relevant to those not familiar with GBX titles, while the CEO teased towards future ideas knowing full well that reveals on standing games would require more than a quote.
I fully see why youâd perceive it as such @boomshanka08, and again, neither you or I are privy to any of that information, so weâre just speculating. But I feel like that is operating at least on some level in an associative bias, since youâre an active member of a forum and some one well in tune with GBX games. Youâre very much in the âknowâ compared to many who may have been hearing from Randy for the fist time, or at least do not dedicate that level of time following through on GBX IPs.
I Remember the first few hours of playing Borderlands2.
It felt so weird and had changed so much from 1 that I was worried I wouldnt be able to get into it.
Now ive played it more than all my other games combined.
Iâd imagine BL3 will be the same.
The core of the Borderlands franchise is so strong its hard to see how it can be anything other than awesome , whatever form it takes.
$50 bucks says Borderlands 3 is gonna have a Penn and Teller reference on a side mission.
Iâd pay 5 bucks for a single mission on The Amazing Randi.
(P.S. James Randi; The fella that found Penn & Teller, and one of the worldâs greatest living debunkers).
You mean like Rock, Paper, Shotgun?
A lot of people around here are guilty of that.
Which is why Borderlands should attempt to retain itâs uniqueness and charm and features if it wants to survive/thrive. As an example. as a series it should support offline, split screen, and online. It should not go online only. It does need some diablo 3 adventure mode style stuff for end-game though.
And Borderlands 2 had a better story than any part of Destiny + DLC.
Borderlands 3 certainly would have benefited from a 2016 release. Or early 2017 release. Now they have to deal with Destiny 2 and Anthem.
For me, thereâs some issues with Battleborn that stem from it being more of a stresssful co-op than Borderlandâs casual co-op. As an example, imagine the fight to destroy the bunker in BL2 if it was A) failable and if you did fail, you had to restart back at Sanctuary B) life count based - you could run out of respawns for the whole team, and C) perhaps you also had to defend claptrap the whole time and if he died it was mission failure. Oh yeah and he didnât have a good way to regen his health.
Thatâs mostly how I feel in Battleborn missions. Not all of them are that way, but enough of the missions are that I canât just use matchmaking. I could end up in a mission that Iâd rather not replay. Or rather not worry about failing.
I took to it immediately. I did play it into the ground a little bit. hahah. Now I feel like I have to do things I havenât done before next time I come back around to it. As an example, play as a level 72 Zero in TVHM using level 50 gear only. This could make some of the raid bosses more fair to solo.
Or you can try things like one-life playthroughs or completely new parts of skill trees, or single manufacturer playthroughs.
Do a worst-skills run. White gear only run. Weird allegiance, like Vladof or Torgue Maya (neither makes SMGs). Yâknow. Keep it interesting, maybe learn something new.
Even just trying to use a gun-type you normally donât use. Assault rifles for instance, if you wrote them off a while ago.
My biggest fear for the series is to go down the mmorpg route.
I am not a fan of any game that requires other players to enjoy. I like a combination of both.
They freaking nailed it with the claptastic voyage, this dlc definitely restored faith in gearbox as far as having great new ideas. Glitched weapons and that end game game were awesome not to mention the incredible thought process that made the story I mean who comes up with the idea of going into claptrap and nailing it so well.
Battleborn IS packed full of great new ideas and IS the culmination of all those years they spent making Borderlands. It very much has all the Borderlands/Gearbox DNA that made me want to try a first person shooter despite how much I despised the genre.
The vocal consensus though have made it clear they donât want anything new, they want more of the same and they are happy to burn bridges to get it yesterday.
Dude, I love your enthusiasm for Battleborn, and your contributions to that community are top notch. Itâs a great game!
But hereâs its big problem, like a broken record: It requires a good internet connection to play, and a lot of its content requires 4-9 other players to be worthwhile. Borderlands never had those problems. Everything in BL1/2/TPS is solo-able, and they can be played entirely locally with no internet connectivity at all.
Thatâs huge.
The good news is, that Gearbox are pretty good at testing a concept as a part of one game before releasing it as a more core feature of another. Some good features developed and lessons learned from Battleborn may well end up in BL3.
As long as itâs not about a requirement to have good internet connectivity to enjoy the game, Iâll happily take it!
The majority of my playtime with Battleborn has been playing it solo, but I understand that not everyone can find the fun in being a lone wolf in an inherently multi-player game.
It would be nice if it could be played offline though, but we are in an age of always online and while you can obviously still get those offline solo experiences, the big name games all require internet connectivity.
I think a future Borderlands title would benefit a lot from dedicated online support especially in terms of finding other players to play with. Iâm not saying it should require internet to play, but like whoâd say no to Sanctuary-like hub where you can meet other players to go and run the campaign with? Or to take on that tough raid boss you canât quite kill on your own? What if Marcus was open for business to everyone on Pandora and Crazy Earl had a black market for trading weapons and gear with other players? These are the types of ideas you might miss out on if a future Borderlands game decided to stick to being an offline only experience.
