OM, Thorn, and Marquis all have 5 fingers per hand.

With the exception of Orendi, this seems to be a Jennerit thing.

I think we are all missing the point here, Rath has 3 fingers and 1 thumb, there has has been a secret message all along.

3 x 1 = 3
3 x 16 (day of release) = 48
48 ÷ 16 (the amount of characters we know of) = 3

Therefore, Half-Life 3 confirmed?

Being serious though, it would be cool to have some story tie in between the Borderlands universe and the Battleborn universe. Personally, I can see the belief of Zer0 having some connection with the Jennerit Empire, he has that certain je ne sais quoi.
