I swear somebody is always making a post about “this character is OP”. In my opinion there really isnt any OP characters . Some people are just really good with certain characters. People just have to accept that some players are good with certain players
Yet that’s not how you kill enemies.
(and it’s not a DoT, it’s an area dealing damage, melka has the biggest DoT I believe)
Other way around her arrows improve her skills.
I don’t see how.
Her abilities apply the curse effect and even make her arrows cursed right away.
Well her passive for one, enemies hit with a charged arrow are cursed for 8 seconds. Skills and charged arrows deal 25% additional damage to cursed targets.
Charged arrow then hit them with a skill that now does more damage. Its not hit them with a skill and now skills and curse arrows do more damage.
You can use skills to curse targets but you have to pick the helixs then if its blight you have to stand in one spot and if its volley you wasted a helix point when you could of given volley alot more damage.
You can play thorn however you like if you want to use skills to set up your arrows whenever works but she is caster.
I hate playing against good Thorns as well. Most of the time a single good Thorn can carry a whole team, but that can be said about any character. Except maybe Deande (hinting at a buff here) and the supports.
My only complain is that Thorn (and all the other agile character with small hitboxes like Orendi and Mellka) are too fast IMO, which means you specifically need to land a slow to pressure them.
I highly respect good Thorn, Toby (my character of choice), WF, Kelvin, and Attikus players, because they have mastered a character most consider useless. Brav-■■■■■■■-oh, seriously.
The only thing about Thorn I find frustrating is Vaulting Hunter. Not OP frustrating, but she is elusive and mobile because of it
I only use thorn and yeah for me she is kinda OP. I regularly get most kills in whole game on PvP or Highest damage and most kills on PvE. If you play her right and cocentrate all her gear and helix on Skill damage then yeah she is an absolute beast. A well trio’d skill unleash (both skills and ultimate) then she can hit way way over 1500+. sometimes 2000+. I agree with this post A LOT! and thats why i love her and wont be changing ever! The key to it is her passive ‘natures curse’ that deals an extra 25% skill damage or extra 35% with helix upgrade and then her skills and especially her ultimate hits like a runaway train!! and as previously said she can do all of this damage from range. I played a game about 25 mins ago and got a triple kill from my ultimate on overgrowth from a long long way away! they didnt even know i was shooting at them!
thorn is how i quite often get 15-20+ kills a game and also how i obtained the ‘worthy of song’ title (kill 25 battleborn in a single match)
but just for the record, i do have trouble when fighting a good rath…he is definitely also pretty darn powerful! a good rath is always not a nice sight to see on the opposite team!
Thorn’s helix prob needs some adjustments, like her instant access to slow to her aoe makes her nearly unmatched in wave clear.
Rath on the other hand, barely an average player can spin to win with him. People claim he’s too squishy and needs to get in close, but most games are in relatively close combat.
I think her AoE’s are what irks people, with her is the fastest face melting of Rendian on Heliophage advanced I’ve seen so far.
Thorn is way better at AoE’s than Benedict, which is kind funny given she’s a sniper.
Funny Thorn is actually the one you listed where she has been in almost every “top character” list I have seen. I don’t think she is OP but she is not one of the weaker characters in the game. If she was I wouldn’t see her in almost every match I have played including the CTT and BETA. The other characters you listed I agree with, and they see much less play than the stronger characters.
I put her there because i’ve seen multiple threads asking for a buff for her (especially early on), and because i have NEVER encountered a Thorn player that gave me any trouble. I know they are out there, but such has been my experience.
I don’t really see her as a sniper, Have you tried actually sniping with Thorn? It gets harder to hit people the further away you are from them because you have to lead the shots unlike Marquis. Most good Thorn players I have played against are usually using her Mid-range so they can hit with both arrows and her skills. I would think she is more of a caster because of where she operates at maximum efficiency, sure she can’t spam her arrows fast but they are strong an much easier to hit at mid range than close or far away.
Yea, I’m only saying she’s a sniper based on what Gearbox puts on her info card. They also say she’s advanced. but the only barrier I see is aim. All her buttons are straight up DPS after all. An aim-botter can do wonders with her.
Kleese is advanced, Thorn, not so much.
That’s probably because Thorn is less of an assassin and more of Area/Minion control. She is kind of like Oscar Mike in that, yes her AOE does alot of damage but it is usually better to use on minions than players. Thorn should be in more of a wave clear role than actually attacking players. She can attack players but is that really where/what she should be doing considering her abilities target more than one target. You normally won’t consider her the problem as to why you are losing a match but she probably is if there is a Thorn.
No, i meant that all of the Thorn players i’ve encountered have sucked OVERALL, not that i’ve never had trouble fighting them (though this is also true); sorry for the confusion. It’s just like where i’ve seen some pretty amazing WF players, and yet most comments i’ve seen about him say he is a liability most of the time.
Yea, I’ve come to the conclusion that Gear box made one hell of a great game but if you ask them to describe any part of it they can’t find the correct words to do so.
That could be because people rag on WF on the forums then “decent” players read about it online, try him out, and find out he is actually quite good once you start unlocking his helix choices (What I did). Until you unlock his helix choices he is not so good, which is probably why most people say he is bad because they don’t actually unlock anything for him.
Same with S&A for me; i adored the character(s), theme, and kit, but i just couldn’t make them work at first. Then i discovered that the 2 sec stun helix makes ALL the difference.
