I’m sorry but just because your team buddies agree with you does not make it fact.
Try doing a ‘side by side’ of his other skills… Spoiler: They’re ■■■■.

You have to look at his kit as a whole instead of just one ability. Yes sublimate is very good and yes it is his best skill but his other skills balance it out. Chomp is his highest damage dealer/stack builder that is on a very short cooldown but it can only hit one target and has very little range. His ult is only useful in very few situations.
Sublimate is his initiation, CC, and escape that is on a long cooldown. It has a very long cooldown to keep it balanced since it’s his best skill. They gave every character (except galilea) a very balanced kit so they each bring something new to the table.
In comparison to someone like El Dragon who can not only stun 2-5 people with his ult combo but can also put out the highest aoe damage in the game with his ult. Can sublimate do 700 on an initiation? no… does it have a lower cooldown and can stun just as many people? yes it can! Balance is key here and Kevin has a very balanced for his role.
Hope that helps!
I’ve played Kelvin on PC, I’ve fought Kelvin on PC, and while Sublimate is a VERY good initiation tool, after it’s done Kelvin is left stranded, and just has to chomp and punch his way back to safety. In a team fight against a team with a Kelvin, staying mobile and not bunching together (bunching together is a dumb thing to do anyways, since it’s just asking for an AoE to ruin your day) is an easy counter to Sublimate. Kelvin cannot strafe while sublimating, and while this is countered on PC somewhat with the ability to quickly change aim directions, he still struggles somewhat to catch agile enemies.
The rest of Kelvin’s kit balances out this good initiation tool.
Chomp is a rather high damage single target ability that a Kelvin is slightly hesitant to use if it won’t kill the target, since he needs those health stacks to maintain relevance throughout the match, and it has the same range as his melee, so it’s essentially an increased damage melee attack that he can use every 5 or 6 seconds.
Ice Wall is a wall. And if you get hit by its rather unmanagable hitbox, you’re stunned, but not damaged. And it has a pretty long cooldown, like most ults. Quite possibly one of the worst ults in the game, unless you get lucky and all of your enemies line up in front of you. In which case they’re dumb.
Now, more on Sublimate:
When he’s not sublimating, Kelvin is one of the slowest characters in the game, and is huge and as a result easily body blocked and targeted. The speed boost is what makes it his escape option, since almost every character in the game has an escape option. And it isn’t the only non-ult multi-stun. ISIC has a helix option at I believe level 4 to stun every enemy he plasma dashes through, which allows him to stun everything in a decently long straight line. And he travels that distance instantly upon casting. El Dragon’s stun is bound to his ult, but it deals huge damage as well, so if used in a team fight (and he probably will), El Dragon can essentially guarantee a kill for every character hit by Dragon Splash’s rather large area. Sublimate has almost half the cooldown of El Dragon’s Ult, so having half of its capabilities (CC, but piddly damage), makes sense to me. Its 3 second duration is generally only able to hit 1 player per second in an optimal situation unless either A. He activates it with someone on top of him, in which case that person should have seen this coming, or B. the team is bunching together, which, as I said earlier, means your team is not playing very well. While he can boost its duration with a Helix upgrade, by the time an extended Sublimate is over, the first 2 people he stunned are no longer stunned. If your entire team gets killed because of 1 sublimate, I’m afraid your team just isn’t playing very well.
It’s a very good CC. But not too good. And it’s essentially his entire kit until he gets enough chomp stacks to tank. I also laugh at the fact that you think that a slow-based Kelvin can’t be an utter monster if helixed right. Being unable to outrun a Kelvin puts you in a very bad place…his stomach.
AS with any form of statistics, the larger the sample size the lesser the room for error.
Asking 5 people who just played, or are playing poorly against a certain character if said character is OP and they agree is not a true sample.
If I buy one lottery ticket and win the lottery, am I to assume everyone else who also bought a lottery ticket also won? No. That is just silly, and it is also exactly the type of thinking you seem to be stuck in. You had a concern with a characters ability, brought your concern to the masses, and tried to explain why you think it is so OP. When a larger crowd refuted that argument, gave example, numbers, and corrections to your statement, you refused to look at it differently. At this point the larger community is beyond helping you.
Please understand that if you came with a complaint and not a single person agreed with you than perhaps you should make an attempt to look at it from a different angle.
Well allow me to point out a problem with CC and Sublimate then, im not gonna argue anymore points since everyone here seems to think I have played like 10 rounds of pvp only (I have more than 100 hours of gameplay and over 100 victories… so… anyway)
Deande’s ultimate will not CC Kelvin out of Sublimate. I’ve tried, it failed.
That seems like more of an issue with Deande’s ult then Kelvins sub. I’ve routinely been stunned out of subs by Montanas and Galileas (was getting really annoyed with a Montana that was knocking me out of my sub EVERY time I used it. Very good player.).
What I really want to see is 2 Kelvins sub into each other. I REALLY want to see what happens there.
You do realize that kelvins sublimate has a large cool down and the stun lasts for a minimal amount of time by the time you’re out of it they’re unstunned so kelvins sublimate is really just his escape power. Also of course if a team gets wrecked by a kelvin or any character they’re gonna say he’s op. He’s not op that kelvin was just good
Play kelvin… Then tell us how you feel about his skills.
As a Kel master, I can 100% confirm…
They stun each other, its hilarious.
Drat! I was hoping for a cataclysmic, icy explosion that instantly kills all players in the area
Nah. More like two buffallo headbutting each other and knocking each other out while both their families laugh at them.
I have yet to play kelvin since i bought the game, but i played him once in beta. I noticed that there was this kelvin that was dominating us but he had a good miko healing him. so the next game i decided to play as him. we had no miko. and his sublimate skill was hard to get used to. he didn’t really have any other good main attacks. i was picked off pretty easily.
Now it may’ve already been said, but one other reason this skill shouldn’t be changed is his moveement during the skill. He can only go backwards and forwards, but you can turn the camera, meaning he has no strafe. Just saying, they did a lot to make sure this move was perfectly balanced.
Not 100% sure he can move backwards actually, I think he can.
This game does need a team deathmacth mode though, it would expand map possibilities…
Not really, this is a MOBA’esque game, not CoD
I’d still enjoy an elimination gamemode… maybe a Meltdown with point score for player kills too in a circular map with all the minions going to the center? If the map is made right it could be a lot of fun.
Have you ever used kelvin?
its shield recharge but go down stright away and it not the full 300 its about 65 depending on your level.(this is his passive not his skill by the way)
The damage is poor.
He can stun a whole team if they close together but so can isic, bordur, atticus and montana.
Has the longest cooldown time of these as well.
Its far from op its the best stun in the game but has the longest cooldown time and little damage also you can take damage in this fourm.
I can confirm that he can go backwards and he can also… JUMP.
It took me way too long to realize I could jump while sublimated
Heh, I mean, it’s not like he jumps high enough for that to be useful in a lot of cases. I do recall jumping though.
Wow so many people don’t use him right, I have the legendary gear for him, all his lore, level 13, kill 15 enemies without dying
there is a whole technique with him
