On XBOX One:
I have completed BL2 ending up at level 36.

I have started again in True Vault Hunter Mode but have the following questions if someone could help:

I see some people with lots of iridium, money, etc millions of dollars, as much iridium as you could ever use–How do you get this?

Since you get one skill point for each level, that pretty much means you can only complete one skill tree—Is there a way to get more skill points?

I have heard about some really cool weapons, like infinity (infinite ammo). What is the shortest path to getting some of these?

Regarding weapons I see some folks with weapons with damage very high. The best I’ve got right now is a gut with about 300 damage points. How do you get the damage level so high on a weapon?

Is there a way to get behind the gun dealer and open his safe?

I have read about joining some other gamer to level up. How does that work?

Any help or response as well as other hints would be appreciated.

Thanks-

Larry

Just keep killing things and picking up weapons and selling them. It adds up quick. When you get to op8 money comes really fast.

The final level cap is 72 so you have plenty of points to go around. Thats 68 skill points I think counting the one you spend on your action skill. You generally don’t want to just fill out one tree, move them around in different trees to get what you want. There are lots of builds in these forums for you to look at.

Well the infinity is an average gun at best so don’t get to excited. But for the best gear for each character and how to get it go to sub forum here of the character you are playing and look at the top gear. They list the best gear and where to get them.

This games scale fairly aggressive so as you level up guns just do more. Shotguns, Snipers, and Launchers have the highest single shot damage but DPS often can mean more depending on what you are doing and how you are set up. Don’t ignore stats like Mag size, Reload, Fire rate, etc…

If you are new to the game don’t do this. Play and learn the game, if you get power leveled and you don’t know what you are doing you will get wrecked at the higher levels and it can easily ruin the game for you. Take your time with it, its a big game with a lot to do.

Lots of time. At high levels weapons will be worth hundreds of thousands.

You get a max of 67 points to get skills with. This is enough to get the last skill in two trees and the first one-pointer in another tree. You only get points by leveling up.

Look up the enemy that drops it and farm them.

The game has a drastic exponential scaling to its damage. An SMG at low level will do about 37 damage per shot. That same gun at level 72 will do about 78,000 damage per shot. It’s just how the game scales at higher levels.

No.

You join the game of someone with at max level and they kill max level enemies, which gives you lots of xp which levels you up quickly.

???
You can get eridium in normal and TVHM… Are you confusing them with Pearls?

Yeah I was thinking seraph crystals…

1.) Congrats on completing BL2.

2.) Iridium: Iridium comes over time. Once you have bought all the upgrades you won’t have anything to spend iridium on so you will max out soon enough. Farming bosses is the fastest way to get Iridium. Another good way is to have someone give you a really expensive gun and you selling it then using that money on the slot machines when low level. For example, whenever I start a new character, I give them a couple of my level 72 guns and let them sell it (usually about $2 millions bucks worth). Then they play the slot machines at $112 a spin.

3.) Skill Points: Completing a tree is not necessarily the best way to play, check these forums on your character to maximize their potential (if that’s your thing). By the time you get to level 72 you will have enough points to fill out 2 skill trees.

4.) Cool Weapons: Farming the people that drop the weapons. Again, looking at these forums there are plenty of links on who drops what. The chances are low but if you farm a character enouogh the weapon you are looking for will drop. The infinity pistol you are talking about has the best chance to drop from “Doc Mercy” and the “Gold Golum”.

5.) Weapon damage scales depending on the level of the Item. A level 18 infinity hits for say 30 per bullet, a level 36 infinity hits for like 300 per bullet, a level 72 infinity hits for half a million per bullet. <-- those are not real numbers but just showing you how wacky the scaling will get.

everything else you should google yourself. This is one of those teach a man to fish moments.

Try to look up the old gearbox forums section for BL2. I had a million questions about how things worked when I started and there is a ton of good info there

Thanks all for the replies–all are helpful.

I have to disagree with Derch on the Infinity Pistol. Besides the infinite ammo, the speed of each shot is actually the best part of them. I had a level 26 Infinity and it was very useful all the way through about level 35 enemies. It did take me forever to get it out of Doc Mercy of whatever his name was. Again though, it’s all about personal preference and play style as to what guns are killer. Wiki has really good info for BL gear that’s where I always turn for my info. It also tells you which scenario the grear is best for so you can more easily make a decision on what to keep/look for.

One really good way I found to get awesome gear was to gamble. You can pull some really good gear out of the slot machines. You get a lot of decent to crappy gear also but then you sell them to make up for the cost. And that’s not even counting the iridium and cash you can win also.

OK then

If I get the weapon at any level 25 can i get it again at 30?

If you find it in a chest. Otherwise, no.

Yes, there’s no limit on how many you can get. I found 4 all at different levels. Took forever though, but farming for it was worth it . i don’t recall any weapons being one time pick up only in BL 2. Even reward weapons you can get again on each of the difficulty setting

It can happen but it is unlikely. Everything has a small chance to drop something, but until you get to ultimate vault hunter mode the levels and quest’s/characters don’t scale to your level. so lets take the infinity example above.

Lets say doc Mercy is level 14, he will drop a level 13-14 infinity.
Now on true vault hunter mode he is level 30. He will drop a level 28-30 infinity.
Now lets say you are level 40-50. He is still only level 30.
When you get to ultimate vault hunter mode you will be level 50 and then the game starts scaling the enemies to your level. So when you see doc mercy if your level 56 he will be 56, when you are 60 he will be sixty. etc…

I am sure i overly simplified that but someone will probably clear up anything important I glossed over.

Once you beat the warrior on tvhm. The gear, enemies, and sidequests you didnt complete will go up to level 50. Regular mobs will be anywhere from 49 to level 51 or 52. Bosses like doc mercy will be level 52. So if you like the infinity. You can farm for a level 50 version before entering uvhm. And obviously you can do the same for any other gear you might like.

Those links are why its not great.

A purple Vladof Anarchist has both higher damage and fire rate than the Legendary Infinity. With a mag size of 53 and the quick reload at 1.7 as well as shooting in in strait line to hit crits better make it better than the infinity.

Most characters have ways of boosting both the Mag and Reload speed as well. My maya for example has 10/5 foresight making the Anarchist have a Mag of 74 and reload speed of 1.13 normally and on kill its 0.89.

With a mag that big and reload that quick, reloads are not an issue. I would rather take more damage, accuracy, and fire rate, or you know DPS.

Ammo also should not be an issue in this game.

Well for me how I got lots of money was from farming many different bosses selling the items they drop.

One of the best all round guns for all characters is the DPUH (double penetrating unkempt Harold) is pretty was to get. In campaign of carnage (what was dlc3) all torque machines have a legendary item as its item of the day. If you farm the torque tokens by completing missions etc pretty was to get up to the amount needed. Then all you need to do is visit the machines and a dpuh will be there at some point. What I did was to visit the machines at the beat down, the forge and moxxies place as all machines are next to fast travel points only took a minute or so to visit all 3. Just save and repeat until you find one. If you want to power level yourself repeat the barbrawl mission in petes bar, easily the best and fastest way to level up.
