Both Remastered and the Remastered Multiplayer are crashing when I attempt to launch them, but the classic versions are running fine… Error logs say this:

You probably need to download some Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, I think you need x86 versions but check official support to be sure!

Ugh, I’m assuming it’s because my stock Intel HD 3000 card only supports OpenGL 3.1. What a bad time for my main GPU to die on me… But if that’s really the case with you NEEDING 3.3, then that’s a bummer.

Don’t try and run it on your HD3000. Try and use your 2nd GPU if you have one. You might have to manually select HW to start with your dedicated GPU in your laptop
The dedicated GPU in the laptop died. BSOD’s on start and purple lines, etc.
Anyways, it won’t run it anyways, as support confirmed, due to the lack of OpenGL 3.3 support. Eh, it was worth a shot… Just gonna have to wait until I build an actual desktop.

That’s your problem. Remastered requires Vista at the minimum. I have an old laptop I was hoping to be able to run the classics on at least, but that seems out of the question as the original EXEs won’t launch directly either.
I doubt he’s on XP. My crash reports say XP as well and I’m on 8.1.

If you have switchable graphics like intel HD3000 and nVidia, you have to select HomeworldRM.exe file to use High Performance Graphics (nVidia). In nVidia Control panel select “Manage 3D Settings”, Program Settings tab, click Add…, browse to HomeworldRM.exe, like …\steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release\HomeworldRM.exe, and then choose it to use nVidia card.
Something similar should be possible with AMD graphics.
This fixed it for me.
