First off I don’t play borderland 3 much online. I have been since the bloody harvest event. I was aware of the nurfs but I have to ask something. Why destroy the Firestorm? It was not OP yet you nurfed that grenade to the point where it is worthless. Farming that damn thing took me forever. Why did you nurf it and not just remove the grenade from the game? It would of made more sense. Anyway, my way of thinking is that farming that grenade took forever and since it’s now pretty much worthless how about exchanging it for the best Ghost Grenade. Sounds fair? Hex I understood and at least that grenade is still somewhat useful.

It definitely was op. Sorry dude but they were right to tone it down a bit.

I don’t agree with that at all. Mobs just move out of the zone. It’s not like the Hex. Anyway everyone should have their opinion and respected. I personally feel that they ruined the grenade. I can’t imagine anyone using it online at this point. I actually found a grenade that does better damage just not as cool looking… don’t think I’ll mention it… they will just nurf it. Peace all.

I use the firestorm Grenades and I have to disagree that they are weak. Sure there might be better variations of grenades to use, i use this one particularly for the element and that it is a Vladof for my matched set bonus. But against unshielded enemies it just decimates the battleground. I play exclusively on M3 and never bother with mods. Unless I happen to get the trifecta increased enemy health with negative modifier to the guns I’m using, with the general negative gun modifier.

I was going to make a post about the firestorm but since there’s this one I’ll just ask it here (sorry it’s a little bit off topic)
Does anyone know how many variations and manufacturers of the Firestorm there are?
I’ve found 3 different ones and their from 2 different manufacturers.
I’ve never seen the same thing made from 2 different manufacturers before that I can remember.
It’s very strange…
Proof that I’m not insane one is from Vladof and the other 2 are Tediore and they both have the same name and red text.

I think it has to do with the prefix or non red text modifiers which may be a continuation of what they did back in BL1 where different manufacturers made certain types of grenade mods

It’s a bit of a ‘tin foil hat brigade’ theory at this point but it’s not without founding.
Launchers and grenades have received some serious nerfs since previous titles in the franchise.
Part of the ‘grenade nerf’ is that some of their functions have been transferred to the butt slam and slide. Tesla grenades and their other elemental ilk have been moved across to Butt Slam and Slide based puddles (and shock coils) which fill the same role. There’s still Tesla grenades, rad clouds, gas clouds and pulsing fire grenades but their duration is now very very short in comparison to BL2 and TPS.
Rain Firestorm put it back firmly into the hands of grenades. It was fairly obvious to those who considered these kinds of things and willing to be honest with themselves that the Firestorm was going to be nerfed along with the Hex.
There’s also a more concerted effort in BL3 to have ‘horde mode’ style content instead of just curb-stomping bosses. AoE damage has implications for this kind of content and the reduced amount of AoE damage from heavy weapons and grenades, combined with more frequent overall opportunities for self-damage, are to make this content viable as an end-game pursuit.
So between giving Slam and Slide a role and the horde-mode stuff meaning AoE damage needs to be controlled, grenades are very lacklustre. The Firestorm is now pretty much on the same level as other legendary grenades. It has a specific use-case where it’s very potent, at other times it’s pretty lacklustre.
I can name a lot of grenades that do better damage than the firestorm outside of it’s use-case. This isn’t what decides whether a grenade gets nerfed.
The devs are on record as saying that anything that’s universally good is getting nerfed so it’s more situational. The Firestorm was universally useful so it got nerfed.
Overnerfed in my opinion but I also think a nerf was still deserved.

It’s actually all pretty straight forward. The manufacturer decides the delivery method:
- If it’s Explodes shortly after impact it’s Tediore.
- If it’s Explodes on Impact it’s Vladoff.
- If it’s explodes on hitting an enemy it’s Torgue.
- If it’s Rubberised (bounces X times) it’s Pangolin.
- If it’s Longbow it’s Hyperion.
- If it’s Homing it’s Atlas.
I’m not sure whether the other manufacturers have grenade varieties but those are at least the common ones.

Ok. It’s been so long since I’ve played BL1, I don’t remember it or never really noticed it before.
I just thought it was odd or maybe a glitch of some sort.

I thought there were only four variations. Firestorm, Rain Firestorm, Singularity and Salvo. I’ve never seen the large one. I don’t plan to farm for them anymore but it’s kind of cool you found one I never ran into. Good luck and I hope this helps.

It’s definitely the best Firestorm that I’ve found so far.
I just wish the singularity effect lasted another second. Two seconds would be perfect because a lot times the enemies still get out of range before they take the damage. But it still is a lot better than the Rain Firestorm.

Singularities are my favorite in the game. Some are wonky, but finding the right ones makes everything amazing. Black Hole Contacts are my favorite Blue grenades

Best really depends on what you’ve got to use it for, rain varients are longer lasting and a touch more widespread with many small bursts, large are more on target and deal higher damage to the small range, adding more parts like the “gravity salvo” for example take away what seems to be a whole grouping of rain (6-8 less fireballs falling from the sky). I have yet to find a deluvian firestorm though.

I think two seconds is three Singularity parts though, sadly. Cause two parts makes 1.5. (That’s what makes a black hole contact a black hole)
I’m not sure if the Firestorm needed a nerf - it was strong but not among the strongest set-ups out there. I never got the impression it was trivializing bosses or arenas. I mean even a basic tediore with a mirv homing module is far stronger and more practical, let along your Powerblasts. But even if it needed a nerf, 70% was definitely a touch too far. I feel 30% would have been more than sufficient.
The nerf to the Hex and Firestorm were to bring them in line with other grenades - but in this case I feel it was a big step back for the game. The other grenades should have been brought up to be competitive. In previous installments, grenades were definitely underpowered. In BL2, other than the Fastball and the DLC5 grenades, they were purely utility. Ditto TPS, where any grenade not called the Storm Front couldn’t be relied on for DPS. BL3 excited me because the Hex and Firestorm were very powerful and genuine contendors for top-end guns, but now their nerfs have thrown the balance of power firmly back to the guns again, while a vast majority of the other grenades remain really underpowered. Maybe this is the intention of the game designers, but that is why it is a huge step backward.

I like the idea on a guns amnesty if they nerf something. If you spend a long time trying to farm a specific item, then they just nerf it, they should give an option to trade for maybe 1 of 3 items within a week after nerf. Might take away some of the anger towards nerfs
