Ridiculous Droprates in Borderlands 3

Quite a point - The True Legendaries

All of which (current gear) is going obsolete in mere hours

my thoughts exactly, i think gearbox is trying way too hard to please its community and loosing sight of whats actually good for the game. happened to a lot of good franchises and im worried for this one too.

Actually, that’s generally exactly what playing BL2 was like. It’s a large part of what put me off the game every time I’d return to it. The other major factor would be UVHM.

mayhem 2.0 is better then the current one on paper and we know that there will be more level cap raises in the future

Thing is that while GBX do listen and incorporate certain community suggestions… It would be prudent to assume that a company with might like GB doesn’t ever lose sight.

The corporates have slogans and protocols they live by, that is how they become steeped in might. Core principles of GB etiquette I’d waver have remained unchanged since the founding.

In other words; GBX are still making the game they want to make, these drop rates are to their taste and their taste is what we are presented with. They will never lose sight on account of the community. They’re smarter than us

yip. so whats the point in having whites/greens/blues/epics? why not simply just have legendaries that are just not so legendary anymore.

its still hard to get a good legendary. due to the parts needing to be correct and the anointments. so youl realise when you’r farming for a specific 1. the droprate actually isnt that high. and also mayhme 2.0 will most likely be better because this cant happend anymore

Because they still cater for casuals and those who will never leave Normal Mode.
The climb up is largely ignored but for some simpletons Normal is all they’ll ever see. Read Facebook BL page and you can see the powergap between true VH’s and fan enthusiasts that aren’t hardcore grinders.

The climb up to level cap is a game we grinders quickly leave behind but for some folks that is the game, Normal mode. GB cater to the no so masochistic players too. Hence the white green blue.

Doesn’t matter how many legendaries drop, it matters which legendary drops and does it have the anointment/prefix you’re looking for. I didn’t even see a Spring Epicenter let alone the 25% anoint, to name one of many, till the vending machine event a couple weeks ago…and that’s with over 1.3k+ hrs of play time.

It’s two different games. Hit the right spot with 2 players see 20ish legendary in 5 minutes. Do same solo and see 0-1.

You speak of a fabled Gmod which I highly desire… Merely typing its name tweaks my killing senses. The Spring Epi 25% dam on throw WILL be mine mwahahahaa… Aww :’(

Those are my thoughts as well. The drop rates were and still are utter garbage for Borderlands 2, so much so, that after seeing how generous Borderlands 3 is, I could NEVER go back and play BL2 because the disappointment in hoping great weapons, let alone Legendaries, will drop, will just be dashed to the ground

I respect that others have a different opinion than me, and I’m certainly not knocking their experience, but I just can’t go back to BL2 days…For me, Borderlands 2 is a stark lesson in HOW not to do drop rates because it puts people off

I pretty much agree with your entire post. (the OP I mean).

As someone who was stanning the weapon early on in the game’s life cycle, I have to say the Q-System has gotten pretty overrated. It’s not the ‘only viable Epic weapon’, nor even the best one on any class. It’s the DPUH of epic weapons at this point.

Have you tried some the other colours than orange ?
3/4 of orange guns are worse than greens

Oh goody, another post asking to nerf something. That never gets old :disappointed:

I would ask that you please don’t ask GBX to do things that would ruin the experience for a lot of other people? Many people hated the abysmal drop rates of BL2 and quite like the current ones.

And you have to factor in the sheer number of Legendaries and their permutations in this game. You only have to look at the number of posts on these forums complaining about the odds of getting the exact weapon/anointment combo they want to realise that reducing drop rates would make that problem exponentially worse.

And I really don’t get the complaint. If it bothers you that much just limit your Legendary “fix” to anointed versions only, ignoring everything else. Or even specific anointments only. That would go somewhere to addressing your concerns about availability while not ruining it for other people who like seeing more Legendaries. Sorry, but calling for reduced drop rates is just selfish.

Yeah that’s taking hyperbole to excessive levels I fear. Not even close to being true

Maybe test my suggestion before dismissing it,

Book by its cover and that…

are you telling me that you did a scientific test and have stats showing 75% of Legendaries are worse than green guns? Have to admit I’m sceptical but show me the data and I may reconsider

I’ve seen this comment a number of times, and it doesn’t resonate with me.
I’ve got over 8,000 hours in BL2 on Xbox alone (not counting PS and Steam) and I’ve never had a particular problem with getting the legendaries I need.
I will admit, my needs are modest in end game, a couple of Lyudas, a good Hellfire, a good Hornet, and a B-tch are what I need for bosses and The Peak (of course any old trespasser for Pete). A good grenade or two is nice also, Storm Fronts are an easy farm from the Ninjas. And plentiful shield options, particularly when you’re buying them with seraph crystals.
Each of those requires maybe a 20 minute farming session. True, longer if you’re looking for specific parts, but my experience shows me its easier to get parts in BL2 than it is to get desired anointments in BL3.

I agree that getting the “right” legendary can be a challenge (I farmed for a upgraded Seein’ Dead all day yesterday with no success) it’s easier to get what you want in BL2.

I feel like the game this time is trending toward Diablo 3. In Diablo 3 at max level, all blues and yellows become obsolete as you’re covered head to toe with legendaries and set pieces. Mayhem difficulty levels correspond to Torment difficulty levels. The key is getting the right legendaries with the right stats.

Diablo 3 also had crafting systems in place to alter or reroll stats and I’d like to see that in BL3.
