Before the release of Claptastic Voyage, i had been under the impression that Hyperion had wanted the Claptrap line of robots wiped out due to the huge, deadly war waged against Hyperion by Clappies integrating with everything and attacking Hyperion during the events of the Robolution DLC.
The Clappies you see in original storyline TPS all seem to have had a deep fear of integration programmed into them (Clappy who helps you get into Jack’s Office in Home Sweet Home.
And, after passing TPS, you figure Jack was just wiping out the Clappies because he found them annoying.
And then, at the end of TPS, it just reinforces his irrational hatred of all Clappies, and, after finding the H source, he has no further use for them?
Seems like he could have kept pumping out an army of annoying, but effective, Fraggies?
What I find odd is that, until I heard the Echos of Clappy’s transformation, I thought Jack had reprogrammed him to become INAC to wipe out the BL1 VHs to tie up loose ends and make sure something like TPS wouldn’t happen. Then it turns out that, for once, he had nothing to do with it.
But he kills them all because he thinks they’re annoying. Nothing else.
I felt it was pretty much: I have the power to do whatever I want now, I HATE THESE THINGS, and now they are gone, because I HAS POWER!
Whoever turned our clappy into INAC might of been able to bypass those failsafes mentioned in the ECHOS. Those failsafes prevent anyone from tampering with them.
lol “integration”. Maybe that’s why Clappy has so many Viruses in his head. Unprotected integration is serious business!
He could, but he says in the end area of BL TPS that “those loaders are seriously making you useless, Fragtrap” and then Fragtrap says “Oh, no no no, I’ll prove my worth, I promise!”.
And Jack is right, you know. BL 2 would be a walk in the park if Loaders were Fragtraps.
Not so much a plot hole as inconsistency, why make a robot army if you have FrapTrap? Just upload the new firmware/software package into the Clappys and voila, instant robot army.
Besides that, why say “Ima gonna kill every Claptrap EVER” and then not at the end of the main game? It’s only because of the DLC does he actually make good on it.
Just seems like he’ll say one thing, wait a month or two then opt to do it or missed something which would’ve negated a few dozen missions.
Doesn’t make the game bad, just makes me wonder if the story was rushed and in some areas.
It might’ve been slow, for all we know he chased him around the office/station for an hour yelling death threats and firing off shots from his wrist laser and then cornered him and slowly choked him to death.
I thought they didn’t make good use of tassiter, it may just be me but I thought he could have made one hell of a villain or boss in tps. the voice actor for him was top notch and I hated the guy when he is talking to the vault hunters.
