Rotating Map Problem

I thought it was just me. I spent more time in the maps than playing. Locking down the minimap helps a little. Stupid pet keeps covering me on the map too. And another icon looks just like the player icon spend too much time following that one too much
edit: I mean unlocking it

^^ this. before when you selected the weapon it would highlight the type of ammo it uses. now you have to remeber it by picture not liking that at all. I always feel like I am getting short changed. like I only missing a couple of bullets but have to buy 100 of them or more

this happens way too often. if you touch the wrong thing it instantly takes you to a fast travel way point. Hit the left button or right button and it will correct itself no need to exit map.

Yes, a rotating main map (well, rotating map period) is a TERRIBLE idea. Hopefully they give an option to stop that.

I 100% concur that the rotating minimap is annoying. Point due north always.

^^^THIS. Evertime I move my joystick just after opening the map it immediately moves the cursor to the fast travel point. They need to just lock the selecting of points to the d-pad and allow you to move the joystick freely.

Came here to start a thread saying this. It’s unbearable.

Going back to a flat map should increase performance and improve split screen lag too! In some levels in BL2 it made it more of a puzzle to find things on different levels of a map and added to the explore factor. Don’t need to be handed everything in life for a map. If not definitely needs at least a ā€œfixed birds eyeā€ view.

yep. its really sad when i have to keep toggling between the fixed mini-map and the rotating zone map to find my stupid way point.

how did they not see this in QA?

Thought I was the only one having that problem LOL
I open the map and start running to waypoint. About half way there I realize the map turned itself and now I’m TWICE as far away as I needed to be. haha good stuff. Really hating this new map style

Yeah, it’s dreadful, especially given that the cursor violently jumps to the nearest available fast travel and rubber-bands your perspective to it, flinging the map around just as violently if need be.
In theory this DOOM-style map could have worked, but we need to have control of the perspective.

Waypoints are no better than before either, in fact rather worse because of the increased verticality - so far I’ve abandoned two sidequests simply because I got thoroughly fed up with trying to find the locations. I can’t fly, nor can I burrow (at least not at this stage of the game) but that’s what the waypoints insist I have to do.

Must also agree with the gear menu being less smooth to navigate, especially when trying to compare stats. If there’s even a way to compare two items while they’re in your backpack (neither equipped) I have yet to find it.
ā€˜If it ain’t broke’, as the saying goes.

Small quibbles in a promising game, but with so much inventory management and so many new areas the QoL touches matter.

+1 Please fix. Float this to someone in development. Hope it’s in first patch.

Count me in, main map spinning is terrible. Needs to be locked asap.

It’ll be nice to have it lock when you open it if your minimap is locked.
With the 3D map you do want to be able to rotate it hough.

Would be perfect if it started in a fixed position and could snap back to that position when needed.

As it is now it is really a pain in the ass to even deal with, especially when you take into account the lag and how it always wants to jump around to fast travel.

Ok, so I know there is an option somewhere where you can either have the player icon move and the map stay stationery or the map move and the player icon stay stationery, and I SWEAR it was just my icon moving around a stationery map (I am talking about the big main map in the ECHO recorder, not the mini map) in my first few hours of playing, but then out of the blue my map just started randomly rotating around all the time and I keep getting disoriented In terms of where I’m heading?

How do I make the main map perform exactly as it did in Borderlands 2?

Thanks in advance.

I’m divided on this. On the one hand, movable maps are always infuriating. On the other hand, it’s extremely useful to see the transitions between different heights within the same area. If the map didn’t move I wouldn’t be able to find many of the small bridges or what not that make traversing these massive maps significantly faster.

I agree, and they almost got this right. I still would like to be able to move the map a full 90 degrees off top-down view so I can see exactly what level things are on. Feels like they’re going to about 75 degrees, not quite enough.

But very helpful in that freakin’ maze that is Sanctuary 2

Yeah it’s pretty irritating when watching a YouTube video and he opens his map and says ā€œthe guy is located hereā€ and the map looks nothing like when I open my map lol. You can rotate it yourself, right stick on console but no idea what the default view should be anyway so this is moot.
