I dont think its possible to get that point across to him. It seems that, to him, that is exactly what it means

No kidding! I highly doubt ill ever be “done” with any of the borderlands games haha

I played the hell out of tps, but when I lost hype, I chose BL2 over TPS. This is just a guess but I think I represent the typical steam player in this regard, and this is where @DontPanic’s numbers come from. I’m playing with CV again and thoroughly enjoying it, but once I try all the new stuff, I’ll likely go back to BL2 again. The locations and enemies are just more varied. If you enjoy tps more than bl2 that’s great, I am too currently, just understand that we’re in the minority, and the Steam numbers are in fact a good indicator of this.
And that’s why I also agree that more DLC is unlikely, and also because the average Chadbro player who happened to buy the season pass, and mostly comments on youtube and maybe IGN (but definitely not here), will throw a sh*tfit going “gbx ripped us off again with dlc not included in the pass”. Hell, these butthurt-beverlies don’t even need to buy the season pass to start a “vocal uninformed minority” type tantrum.

I’ve still got my fingers crossed for some type of event though, nothing fancy, but something fun

The Chadbro’s have a point though as when Gearbox announced the season pass at PAX they emphasised that all DLC for the game that is announced (not at Pax, just announced) will be included within the season pass.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-PsMdc6kMg

I already mentioned this a few times: The style of the season pass often changed. If I remember correctly, the video shows the FIRST statement about what the season pass includes. But then they changed their statements from “all DLCs” (to be more precisely, I think they also said: full support until a specific date) to saying that it will only include the next four DLCs, which is right now the two character packs + two story things (Holodome + CV).

So the question is, does this proof that we’re done with DLCs?

Understood. I do think they are in a quandary though if they add content that is not in the season pass when it was implicitly implied when they announced it that the reason for announcing it was to avoid the confusion of what was in the season pass that they had in BL2. It would have been prudent of them if they had changed the terms of the season pass to explicitly make clear of these changes from those that were initially advertised and they didn’t. This would cause a problem as you cannot advertise one thing and switch to another (bait and switch). Aside from this course of events possibly being a big legal problem it would further alienate the fanbase. I know Randy is a magician and it is a good to play a trick in front of the audience but not so good to play a trick on the audience. With this I doubt they are in a position to spend money to make a free DLC (unless its a small headhunter pack maybe) nor are they in a good position to charge for DLC. I expect we won’t see any more DLC but we will possibly see another Loot Hunt which again alienates all the non US fans as like the last time only the US fans will get the privilege to win cash and real prices.

Yes, that’s what I was alluding to as well. They’d be breaking a promise if there was extra dlc for money now.

I believe BL2 also sold a lot more copies than TPS so maybe, that has something to do with it :astonished:

TPS sales certainly weren’t helped by constant reference to glorified DLC in the media pre-release.

People with both games are most probably in 2 camps. Each one having a preference for one over the other. I’m in the TPS camp. Tried to play BL2 just prior to Claptastic Voyage release but only lasted about 5 mins :smirk:

I think your right about Bl2 selling more copies. If we are to focus solely on Steam then anyone without the games, coming to Steam during a sale (and I reckon the 75% off sales have been on multiple times since TPS launch) would have seen there is a big difference on the sale prices between Bl2 and TPS.

TPS season pass has not had a major reduction and the amount of content available for Bl2 is vast and the reductions have been pretty big. Most of the Bl2 content included with the base game has cost about £8.99 and the Head Hunter packs and Digi Peak were around a £1 each! That has to skew the figures.

I think that:

A) the season pass needs to be more upfront about it’s contents at the start

B) eventually people prefer the structure and content of the BL2 DLC pricing model. Content refering to multiple additional story campaigns to add variety to the gameplay. And structure regarding how the 4 story campaigns were part of the season pass. Extra characters are fantastic and I love playing through as each one, but maybe those need to be handled differently for the average players?

C) Borderlands 2 is a bigger and more varied package overall now than TPS. However, going back to BL2 I find myself missing oz kits, the grinder, double jumping, and the classes from TPS. So I will continue playing both. I have focused on TPS since it’s release but I might switch back and forth now from day to day or week to week. Especially with the handsome collection recently obtained. And there’s still plenty to do in TPS and BL2. And even BL1.

D) I think it’s still possible we’ll see a little more story campaign added to the game. Even if it’s headhunter size.

How was it unclear? If you mean the whole “includes all DLC” thing, I don’t really see that as a bad thing

How is “includes all DLC” in contrary to

not unclear?

I guess you missed the part of the release where they said it would include all DLC

Mate, I don’t think you get anything what we’re currently talking about. Maybe following helps you.

See a disparity?

(note please consider the tone this response to be calm, not angry. written words can only do so much sometimes)

It wasn’t clear at first that we’d be getting 2 characters, an arena and a story campaign. I was merely suggesting that they inform better next time. For example it could have said:

“Season pass will include 4 pieces of content. 1) a new character, 2) a repeatable arena, 3) another new character and 4) a story campaign.”

Something vaguely along those lines. I think it was worded more like “new characters, new challenges, new missions, new experiences”. There were vague hints that we’d get what we have now, but it wasn’t very precise and a bunch of people didn’t like how it wasn’t upfront and clear.

I got my value out of the season pass and love it, but others were disappointed and might be more cautious next time. People appreciate clarity is all. It may have hurt TPS sales and might hurt BL3 later down the road.

edit: used the image to correct my quote of what the season pass listed.

Based on that image:

It doesn’t say that we’ll get all DLC ever released for the game, and therefore I think we could easily get more DLC for TPS that isn’t part of this season pass.

The statement someone made a while ago (Randy Pitchford?) about how the TPS season pass would include all DLC this time, is possibly just something that they intended at the time. It’s not written in stone. And I think it’s not entirely in their control. 2K might have their own directives on these things. AND these kinds of statements aren’t always true either. I can think of other broken promises:

“you’ll have an infinite backpack in BL2”

“Borderlands TPS isn’t going to be on next gen for a while” (they implied we might see it in a year or two but it was definitely a surprise to see it in March of 2015)

So… yeah, while I don’t like it when people break promises, I always agree with getting more Borderlands content. So, “shut up and take my money” Gearbox. And churn out some more content for TPS because I’d love to see it.

More Borderlands content,oh yeah…throws money at my laptop screen

It still seems to me like 2K/Gearbox is just stuck up on their pride and unwilling to apologize / admit they messed up the wording / terms of the Season Pass.

A little tact / diplomacy / humbleness goes a LONG way in today’s gaming community!

I wish they would just man up and release a statement to the effect of, “We did not anticipate that demand for this somewhat experimental title would be so high, so the October 2015 date we originally stated is obsolete. We are sorry for the confusion and we plan to continue working on future DLC for this title for our fans who we love so much and who have shown so much support for this franchise. As a measure of apology, all who have purchased the season pass will receive a discount on future DLC.”

There.

Apologetic, fairly vague, leaves them room to maneuver, makes them appear humble.

Hire me as a publicist, Gearbox!

Of course, realistically, i realize there is a very good chance this will NEVER happen!

Hire me as anything gearbox! I have fantastic ideas and I program in multiple languages. C#, objective C and swift most recently. Seriously though I will go through the proper channels for this too.

They could apologize, but I don’t feel it’s necessary. And a couple of things

  1. I really doubt that they didn’t anticipate the demand for more Borderlands

  2. I’m 99% sure that the October date was given so they would have more time to do the Claptrap DLC if they felt it necessary

  3. “Those who purchased the Season Pass will get a discount on future DLC” They already stated that the season pass includes ALL TPS content, so a discount seems useless
