When finding my way through the original Borderlands, I’ll never forget the help and friendliness I was subject to from random strangers and how much it meant to me.

Later, at op 8 with all 6 chars in BL2, the greatest reward - and most fun - for me, and what kept me in the game, was passing such help on to others struggling.

Same reason now, at CR 100 and a bunch of chars in black’n’violet: Yet another PVE or PVP victory, while thrilling, means less than the ability to support and guide those having a diffi time.

Simple as that, and yea, count me in.

This sounds like a wonderful idea! I’ll clean up my OP a bit later to clarify to prerequisites. The more people we get now, the better we’ll be when the patch comes ^^

After we can get this going we can try to summon the mythical @Jythri to hopefully give us a heads up on the next push for new players so we could coordinate. Their team is very busy at the moment so we shouldnt expect anything outside of maybe moral support, a super sweet endorsement/seal of approval :heart: and a potential heads up.
I’ve already got a number of members from my FB group interested in mentoring and the next step is getting them to join the GBF.

Definitley send them this way! The more people we have, the more players we can help! Once we get a small number of committed individuals, I can get around to making a PS4 community for it as well, possibly a steam group as well(though full disclosure I only play on PS4). I maaaay be able to round up a friend or two as well, but a lot of them are on the Overwatch side of the fence, so it’s not a strong possibility.

It’s all good. get anyone you can.
I own the game on all three platforms but I primarily play on XB. So I can manage that side pretty well.
Maybe make a new topic to focus on the highlights and what the overall goal is.

I love this as much as I loved the “BattleSchool”-project! :heart:

It would be great if this idea grows in the same way.

My secret hopes would be that GBX would implement a “Mentor”-title. Maybe rewarded after a certain playtime, CR100 or rewarded after 60% of titles completed, ect.
This way it would be easier to reach out to new players one meets on the battlefield, showing them you´re open to help and give advise.

I think in WoW there was such a thing too.

(Should have a better name though, “Mentor” is good, but it needs to be rather obvious for new players that it means “Guy that might answer my questions if i ask nicely”)

Also I´ve big hopes for the XB1-group feauture that comes soon. Its always a bit rough to get bigger groups together on XB, besides from friendlists.

Do either of you have any possible alternatives? Mentor was really just a placeholder since it both got my message across and let people know what the intent was. I’m definitley up for something more GBX-ish if anyone has ideas.

I did´nt wanted to attack the name or idea at all, to me “Mentor” sounds awesome and its quiet obvious what it could mean, but I still meet high-CR-people in matches who ask “What is that Nova you talk about anyway?”, so there is obvious and obvious.

I heard GBX plans to make hint/tips that pop-up as textboxes, mch as loadingscreen-texts in BL. If one of these tips explains the “Mentor”-tite and role I think everyone should get it.

Personally I think “Mentor” fits in the BB-titles pretty good, along the lines of Eldrid- or Jennerit-titles :heart:

I’m down to devote some time helping on XB1! Add me and message me @Gr1mPulse and I’ll help on my off days (Sat night-Tuesday night).

Also, if any Devs at GBX read this, I believe it would be AMAZING to add a “Mentor” (or something better sounding) title and maybe one for people looking to learn some new tricks. I’d rock the title and help anytime I could!

If there were no floor to the bucket then none of us would be here. :grimacing:
I think the problem is all the holes in this metaphorical bucket. @Jythri and his team are doing their best to patch those holes up and we (mentors) want to do all we can to still the water. Especially come the time of the new updates were I’m sure we’ll get an influx of new players. I don’t know if we’ll do much but it’s better then doing nothing. :slightly_smiling_face:
