I didn’t know this was a thing. I know at least 2 guys round here that love this com. If that’s a thing then having it fixed would be pretty sweet. While we’re talking about coms that need fixing, Gaige’s Roboteer com melee bonuses should be applied to Death Trap as well as Gaige.

One man’s flaw is another man’s welcome challenge. Merely pointing out that part of the reason people are still playing BL2 is that overcoming challenges is rewarding in and of itself. Some of us came late to the game ( cough cough, :raised_hand: )and learning enough about the game to make the seemingly impossible happen is what engaged some of us to the level we are engaged.

I don’t disagree, point of fact I don’t think anyone here disagrees, but you could be chasing perfection with such laser focus that you miss the good stuff you’ve already got. Something something, can’t see the Forest for the trees, something something.

I have to exuberantly agree with this. First gen pearls don’t drop until UVHM except for the slot machines in Flamerock Refuge, and if you’re not already hooked that’s a step I would think you’d not be overly eager to take. As for the second gen pearls, I’m 1000+ hours in (could be way more, I have no reliable way to check on PS3) and I’ve still never seen even one, so to me you might as well be arguing about the length and girth of a unicorn’s horn.

This is definitely something to consider. It’s like trimming your hair. The sideburns are uneven, I’ll just take a little off here. Now the other side is too long so I’ll take another bit, now the other side, etc… Eventually you look like this guy

The UCP did so much adjusting that it eventually grew past minor “balancing tweaks” and into full on reconstructive surgery. So much work has gone into Borderlands 2 since release, who is the judge of “best game possible”? Forgive the hyperbole, but would you give art notes to DaVinci on the Mona Lisa?

@gmanswan, no one is saying that some tweaks wouldn’t be welcome, only that a lot of work has gone into the game and its maintenance at this point and that resources have been poured into making BL3, so we should be happy we have something as great as BL2. Even in it’s “flawed” state it’s still an incredible piece of game. The pennies are always shinier in someone else’s pocket, and if you measure your lawn’s excellence by the greenery in your neighbor’s yard you’ll never be happy. Fantasizing is fun, but in BL2’s advancing years fantasizing is all we can reasonably expect to do.

Yeah the Ranger is like without a leg with this bug still active. Discovered in a video by Demonite, he tested that it boosts properly Onslaught only if you put it on while your killskills are active. It is a tremendous bug that hinders this class mod from being actually a great one in a meh one that is surpassed I every aspect by the Soldier. The bonus gun dmg and movement speed would make it up for it. Because of this bug is slighty more good than a purple Rifleman and i’m not even that sure, it’s a shame. All of his tubby classmods fall to the Soldier or even Grenadier, this is poor design and attenction in my book. They did a awesome commando class but maybe they should have paid more attenction to him

Once per play session? Can you work around it by spawning a vehicle, blowing it up to proc your kill skills, putting it on and then you’re good until the next save/quit, or would you need to do this every time you get those kill skills up?

Seems like all i do is disargee nowadays, but

Axton main here, out of my ~3000 hours in bl2 half would be with Axton. 3 bad skills even tho I’ve seen people claim last ditch effort isn’t bad. Then 1 meh skill(ranger). Axton doesn’t need any attention, even with 1 class mod being bugged.

Being a quite curious person I like to try things myself before demanding to change them. As @gmanswan posted elsewhere:

Maybe some of the pearlescent items listed in the OP aren’t that bad if actually played?

To be clear, my point isn’t bashing the OP, but quite a number of guns in the game have peculiar properties that don’t show in the sheer numbers, the Hail for example. If the Hail is a gun for you or not can only be found out by using it. So try the Storm with an appropriate toon or build and it just might work…

I main axton too man, he is awesome but I don’t see a reason in the world the Leg Ranger has to be bugged like this… talking with another Axton main so… would you ever use anything but Soldier/Grenadier/Veteran and Rifleman?
Engineer is ok-ish but falls to either grenadier and soldier,
Ranger for said reasons, I find it to be severally hindered.
Pointman let’s not even talk about it… why no leg grenadier gbx? :frowning:

Every time, it’s really not worth the try xD

I know I’m not @Piemanlee, and I main Borderlands games but no specific character, but isn’t this question down to personal preference? You can crunch numbers and talk about DPS or defensive stats (neither one being specified in your question, but if that’s what you meant I get it), but in the end wouldn’t you just use what you like? My cookie cutter Axton wears a Leg Engineer, my GemiNuke Tediore/Torgue enthusiast rocks a Leg Soldier, and I’d try anything that occurred to me or came my way (I’ve got a Leg Ranger in the bank I’ve been eyeing, and if I find a Leg Pointman I’m going to try to build a tank around it) at least twice before issuing a verdict.

Yes, the legendary engineer is my favorite com
Gunner coms are also great

Yeah obviously those are my personal hopions but for the sake of min-maxing, other choices are not as optimal. I love the Ranger don’t get me wrong. I just notice every time how it is inferior to the Soldier. Engineer is a good one but meh. I feel like this class mod should have had something more. Maybe is the Soldier being too good.

I didn’t want to say one can’t use other classmods but generally those are the ones that performs better in my experience… idk i’m the only one binded to this playstile so deeply? XD

The soldier being so good is part of the problem, i agree

Of course. Probably the best class mod in the game. Or up there. For me it’s to the Siren/Ninja/Gunzerker levels if not more.
140% swap speed? Yes please

I smell a derail.

But Rob inadvertently brought up exactly what I’m trying to shut down : this game is done, it’s awesome, play it as it is because it’s perfect. If you think about “fixing” one thing you will never stop. So stop before you start.

If you don’t like it and you’re in PC, then you have options. If you’re on console, then you simply have to accept it in all its glory.

I know exactly how you feel

This, i don’t want any more buffs/nerfs. Sure the few small bugs that exist being fixed would be great, but i haven’t had any issues with said bugs in 3000 hours, so they aren’t a big deal

I agree with you (as a long time player), I would love to see an official patch that addressed some of the obvious balancing issues, but I imagine all hands are at the pump for GBX with a BL1 remaster coming out (meaning possible bugs they’ll have to address post release), development of BL3 and the running of their publishing division. I’d like to see some of the character skills updated as well as some weapon balancing, but I don’t think it’s a realistic expectation.

At the very least they should take this opportunity to permanently implement the hot fixes for this game I would say. Beyond that I am really not expecting much at all besides what we already know.

If there’s one thing I would sneak in a patch that would be Axton’s turret scaling up to OP8 on PC like it does on console.
I recently learned that this is a thing and having a character be waaayyy worse off on one platform than the others because of something like this is just facepalm worthy.

I wouldn’t mind pearls getting a little touch up. These days I just don’t care anymore but I was a little disappointed when they turned out the way they did. I don’t think they should be the best weapons in the game or anything like that but most pearl red text effects are just way worse than most unique & legendary red text effects are. I’d also agree with Jefe that Serephs could use a little brush up too.

To sum it up, I think pearls and seraphs could use a little tweaking but then again so could a lot of stuff in the game if you really want to break it down. Having 10-20 guns be underwhelming is kind of ok in my books even if they all happen to be red text guns of a specific rarity. I’d be really glad if they weren’t so bad but I think if anything was to be patched I’d look into the actual characters first.
Axton’s turret scaling and laser sight skill, anyone? Phalanx shield scaling too although I guess that might get fixed with the turret itself scaling maybe. Maya’s action skill both not activating her AS locked skills on raidbosses AND doing f* all worth of damage to compensate? To a lesser degree Kriegs StV getting grenade damage bonuses so that Fuel the blood is going to wreck you (I mean better than melee damage bonuses but come on…) instead of just being fixed % selfdamage? The whole jazz about Zer0 losing his critical ascension for holding a non sniper gun including going into menu or climbing ladders as that unequips you gun while you’re doing it.
Yeah…

EDIT: Oh, right. I would bring one thing in from UCP 100 %. Auto-picking Eridium, Seraph crystals, Torgue tokens and other possible currency tokens including driving over them. The fact that it’s not in the base game is just dumb.

Since when has the UCP done anything but HELP the game? It’s been a slippery slope for sure but it’s done now and its a damn good adjustment on the game. I’ve seen it in action and there’s a lot of things I wished for, the UCP delivers on.

If I hear anyone call BL2 perfect again… Grr. No, perfect does not describe how things get on the bottom end of high skill level. Class mods dont work correctly for certain characters, things are bugged. The game gets really frustrating with how it’s limited by the end. It should work correctly. Math should be done right. It wasn’t.

Whether red text items are funny, powerful, useless or whatever, doesn’t really matter to me. The thing about them is that they are different. They have unique properties, hence the red text. While I don’t regard the mentioned items…

…as fantastic, I still think they’re pretty cool. Apart from the Bearcat, that is! 6 ammo per shot!? OMG!

Anyways… As mentioned in one of the previous posts, there are ways to use these items, and also making them pretty damn good. Godfinger is one of the most ridiculed snipers in the game, and to some extent, I agree. It’s not good at all in your every-day-situations, but… Once you get the chance to do what it does best, it’s like a freight train on steroids. You’d have to be very far away, but sometimes you are. It’s kind of a niche gun, if you ask me.

I also seem to recall someone doing a full build around the Wanderlust, and getting it to work really well. Unforgiven is basically the whole Jakobs’ sales pitch encapsuled in to one gun. “If it took more than one shot, you weren’t using a Jakobs!”

Pearlescents are a rarity that has it’s uses, but they’re more like a “Hey-I-got-a-pearl” item. Many of the Seraph weapons could use some love too, seeing as their Legendary counterparts are usually the better choice.
