Heartpiercer, which allows penetration through ENEMIES, but not terrain (which is decent for minion waves, though not as good as…); Riding The Rail, which reduces the charge-up time of Toby’s railgun by 20%. The latter is ARGUABLY better than Self Destruct Sequence, but i use attack speed gear (such as a blue dagger that gives two attack speed buffs, at the cost of something that doesn’t affect Toby; such as reload speed. The Vow of Zealous Fury also works great on him) to buff this way before lvl. 7, and there seems to be a noticeable cap for attack speed on Toby; i would swear that it’s around 30%, which would cut his raingun charge speed to roughly.8 seconds. Because of this, anything that puts you under a second (such as the aforementioned gear) makes Riding The Rail not worth it, in my opinion.

Yeah, leprechaun universe (Riding The Rail) is okay; unless you’ve seen PIRATE universe (Self Destruct Sequence).
Well while self destruct is good, it IS also situational, can you really deny these changes could be needed
Oh, i was never against them; i think it’s an AWESOME idea. I just challenged your comment about Self Destruct Sequence being the worst choice in that helix. However, i STILL want my explosion, because:

I think the reason they didn’t make self destruct his main play style is because of OW, in part. It would be better than his current ult, which people hate… I mean Ernest is almost the same as Junkrat. Toby was already criticized for being dva. There are some similarities…
It’s just one of those things where people make stupid connections and say “copy cats! gbx suckz bliz op” despite the fact that this game came out first… I would love a better ult for Toby, and self destruct could work. But I would rather he do something with lasers

Attack speed does not in any way increase charge time on anyone. gRANT said this on reddit a while back. Just I figured you should k own, because if you’re building that way then decreased charge time would be amazing as your shots might be a notch higher.
I know. But people see similarities and go all fan boy against it. Sorry I’m blabbering, I’m tired.

It most assuredly does. I don’t know who gRANT is, but i’ve been using Toby since the beta, and can confirm that is does. I wouldn’t THINK of entering PVP without an attack speed gear item on Toby.
EDIT: Wait… are you screwing with me, because what you meant is that attack speed gear REDUCES charge time, and i was saying it INCREASED it out of context. Oh, you… -shakes finger appreciatingly- Hint taken!
Unfortunately, I’m not that subtle and hilarious. gRANT is the lead balancer designer and has worked on the game for a loooong time now. Sadly, he said there is no way to use attack speed gear to affect charge time. It will allow you to shoot faster, but for ISIC and Toby, only helices can increase charge time. Thorn has no options. Your sense of it taking less time to charge may be a placebo. I would trust you if it wasn’t the lead balancer designer. I would go try it out to double check but I’m about to go out and don’t have the ability to stream it to prove it.
If it’s a placebo, then i want MORE of it, because my penguin is kicking ass.

I can’t find any hard data on what you claim, and the online community seems divided on this matter. I could SWEAR that attack speed DOES work on Toby (he’s been firing SO FAST for me), but i kind of hope that YOU’RE right, as that means better gear choices. Could it be that my life as i perceive it is a figment on my, or someone else’s, imagination?
