I have been watching this thread for a weeks or so now due to having this issue. I have sold all my items in the game, re-installed game, cleared xbox one cache, reset skill tree, changed out appearance and nothing for my main character seems to work. A friend of mine believes this has happened once we both unlocked all moonstone upgrades. However, this morning i tried to join a random game and still couldn’t load in. So this looks like its linked to my character.

Thanks for everyone’s assistance in this thread and via our support channels. Can’t promise anything yet, but wanted to let you know that the team has made some positive progress toward reproduction and resolution of this issue. We’ll have more information as soon as it is available!

Recently when i have tried to join my friends game it seems to lock up the game on his end. Not sure if this is still linked to this issue at all.

19 days ago Jeff. How about another (proactive would be nice) update for your customers please!

I couldn’t even join my friends game last night. At least that usually worked. Positive progress!!!

Hey @chillgreg. Would love to provide an update, but nothing has changed at this point. Fix is looking good, but in testing. If everything is groovy when testing wraps up we’ll have a better idea of a release window.
If not, back at it trying for a fix.

19 days and still in “testing” after being broke for months. This is getting laughable. They need to do something to make their customers happy after cashing in on a broken game.

You are assuming GBX has been internally testing a fix for 19 days, simply because there hasn’t been an update for 19 days. That assumption is likely incorrect. Of course, since neither of us actually works for GBX neither of us knows for certain. What I do know for certain is that any fix GBX has been working on will also have to be tested, independently, by Microsoft and pass Microsoft’s Certification process before it can be released on Xbox Live. The same applies to hotfixes or patches for Sony consoles. Sony also has to do an independent testing and Certification process before any fixes are released on PSN. If the fix actually has been 19 days in testing, then it is likely in the process of being tested and (if all goes well) certified for release by Microsoft at this point. If the fix corrects the issue without causing other issues and passes both GBX and Microsoft Certification, then it will be released on Xbox Live. If not, then (like @Jeffybug stated), GBX will have to find another solution to the problem and begin the internal testing followed by independent Microsoft Certification process all over again. IIRC, companies actually have to pay Microsoft or Sony to release hotfixes and patches on Xbox Live or PSN.

I get all that. Fact is this has been broken since launch though. It’s getting ridiculous. They have had more than enough time.

Have you ever been a programmer? Have you ever worked with or on a video game? My guess is no. You dont know what “enough time” is.
Some fixes are a sinch and happen quickly, yes. But not all issues should be expected to be resolved in a matter of days or weeks like most minor issues.
Some problems are MUCH more complicated than i think you are aware of. And unfortunately this is one of those very complicated fixes.
Would you rather they hurry their programmers and send out a sloppy and broken fix? Or take their time, be it months, to get you a REAL working fix?

Just purchased the xbox 1 and Handsome Jack Collection and this is what I get?! Disappointing…

You mention days or weeks. It’s been MONTHS. What I do for a living does not matter. I’ve never seen an issue go this long with no fix. I understand you have to defend them but it’s getting comical now.

I mentioned days and weeks in regards to SIMPLE fixes. Unlike the one we have here.
I also mentioned months. A complicated fix may take months to complete in order to ensure nothing else breaks in the process.
Again, would you rather they rush a fix in a couple weeks, risking giving a patch that breaks another part of the game, or worse, don’t even fix the problem.
Or would you rather wait a couple months to ensure they fix it the right way?
You are misunderstood. I am in no way obligated to defend Gearbox. I am saying this because I want to and don’t agree with people demanding answers and etas yet completely blow them off when you’re given one.

Why would you want to defend a company who sold a broken game to loyal customers? Borderlands is my favorite franchise and up until now gearbox did me no wrong but this is just a huge slap in the face.
I must have missed the eta too. Can you point it out to me?

I am getting caught between both threads about this issue. Thought this was all one thread.
That “eta” was about this tweet you posted from GBX earlier today, where they state a fix is soon to be on its way.
They are clearly confident about the test and say it should be out very soon if all passes.
Now in my opinion, that is a much better response that I would have expected people to be happy about considering it’s not the usual “were looking into it”

When can we expect it to pass if it works though? “Soon” is not an eta. I feel like I’ve been hearing that for months. Days, weeks or months? If it’s months then I will probably be inclined to trade this in since I have a few games coming out this month I’m picking up. If it days then we are finally on to something.
I would not trade in BL2 handsome collection I would return it and request an full refund when asked why explain in great detail the problem. Go all the way up the Corp. ladder and you will get a refund . This might/will put additional pressure on Gearbox to adjust their response to customer relations and refunds and possibility of download code for Battleborn. It will spread the word about an currently defective game if nothing else.

I bought it from GameStop and the receipt is long gone most likely. I don’t have much confidence in a full refund. Probably have more confidence in this actually being fixed and that says a lot.

Ha ha ha…That would explain why we don’t see updates/fixes too often.

I seem to recall that the payment was a limiting factor in the frequency of patches in the past. However, when GBX added the hotfix mechanism, my understanding (based on posts at the time) was that the fee had either been eliminated or greatly reduced? I know the hotfix mechanism was touted as a faster way of getting important bug fixes out in a timely fashion that would not have been possible if GBX had still had to pay the same fees.
