No see you raise the health a Lot. Which shouldn’t be an issue, you’ve seen a sentry get wiped in ten seconds before right? So back dooring is actually more viable but less useful. Because yes, they can break the shield easier. But no it won’t do much.
Also, I can’t remember which moba did this, but one of em just have towers increased damage reduction unless minions were in range/ a set aoe. That way divers, the issue in that game, couldn’t smash the towers easily with a tank bruiser shooter combo.
I’ve personally long thought the shield needed a serious damage reduction against Battleborn. I think that would help keep backdooring a viable strategy while making it not so insanely simple.
I like that idea as well although like I said above I was thinking only for the shield. It could be interesting to just give it a flat damage reduction buff no matter what.
Anyway, it’s cool to see there are multiple thoughts out for there for dealing with this, I just hope GBX is having similar conversations. Right now as the game has no competitive scene I think they can coast by with things as they are but if the game ever gets a competitive scene I don’t think those guys are going to bother pushing minions and instead will just constantly be going for the backdoor as that is just loads easier than pushing minions.
I think it would be cool if all BLADE BOTS had a minor EMP explosion the size of about melee range every 7 seconds (of course science wise, emp should kills them also but just an idea) dealing around 75-150 SHIELD damage (X1-5 bots); this could make blade bots scary and effective against BB and an awesome way to push the sentry. Of course this is also with an increase to sentry health and damage resistance while shield is up.
sentry should always target minions over players, otherwise whats the point of escorting them? If your wave gets killed you retreat nd wait for the next one… This is typically how tower assault nd defend games work. The sentry doesnt need to be buffed, the AI just needs to be tweaked… And for the love of battleborn please get rid of the thumper on overgrowth or add 1 to monuments

No that thumper is the only thing that keeps cheese rushes from happening. And monuments has a much longer range between you and the sentry, so it’d either have to be around the corner where they can still hit sentry, or up above with way too much range.

I agree tanks in other MOBAs can even have a hard time diving things without help but sentries don’t even defend right. I was sitting shooting them for almost a whole 2 minutes and it never shot me the only reason I stopped was bc thrall were up as well as shards I needed. I don’t mind back dooring if there’s risk like how over growth used to be. You could use characters to get up on the ledge but now you have no escape for a bit and attack by yourself and get shot.
Now on overgrowth teams just sit in the cubby right next to it and heal (or even not) and fire constantly with no risk since it won’t fight back and get a guaranteed win. It takes no skill and no strategy to win.
Well we agree the sentry ai needs some work, after that I stand by countering cheese.

They should implement buildables that construct Ronin. And they would only go around your base as the defensive units ^^
But thank god they took out shepherds from incursion, this literally saved this mode.
I’d say make 2 buildables, make bulwarks for purely defensive and ronins to hunt down battle born specifically!

What? Shepards were bad but ronin nd bullwarks are good ideas? The sheppards atleast gave some element of strategy? Not day 1 but when they patched it so both teams got them every 4th wave, you could atleast strategize a push w them… Still not saying they were the best but how is introducing a bunch of more op buildables any better? All youll need is shard gen nd youll never have to leave your base…?
Aw relax, it is interesting to consider but I’m not sitting here saying “Gearbox put these in the game now!”. I do think most of the community would like more buildables, especially on Monuments, however the main changes I think need to be made are still what I discussed in the OP.
Point is, it’s fun to consider different ideas even if not all of them actually are good.
I have given it some thought, and I think covering it in some graffiti of poorly drawn genitalia would make it like, way stronger.
