Setting The Meta (Incursion) + Meltdown Breakdown In Comments

Very interesting stuff there. I’ve been wondering what the meta will look like for a while now and, based on my observations, this appears to be pretty darn accurate. I do have a personal question though and you seem like the person that may be able to answer, if you don’t mind.

My all-time favorite character and “main” is Ambra and while I do mostly play her as a support I usually end up roaming and playing the turret maintenance game. I’ve been mostly playing Meltdown, not too sure how to handle Incursion yet, but my question is: am I playing her wrong? It has worked well for me so far but the matches haven’t exactly been “competitive” so far. She doesn’t have Miko’s amazing healing power and I feel like shadowing the tank/carry doesn’t utilize her to her full potential. I guess part of the reason I do so much turret maintenance comes from the fact that my teammates usually don’t, since they’re not too familiar with the game yet.

Kelvin is a fantastic flex pick. He tanks ridiculously well, clears camps super fast and his passive sustains him and keeps him healthy while jungling, and sublimate lets him get back to the fight and stun enemies at the same time. Really undervalued hero,

Definitely play her aggresive. She doesn’t benefit as much from staying back and playing full support like Miko does. If your teammates are failing to get turrets up then definitely go for those. You should be playing her like Reyna, where you want to just make sure your teammates are healthy before you roam and go roast some people lol On meltdown, try to stick to the top-middle of the map so you can control that shard location and still provide support for your team. The nerf really hurt her aggresive style, but they didn’t buff her support playstyle to compensate, so she’s not a top support pick anymore.

Agreed

I agree. Assuming there is a draft pick, flex characters are really nice to have.

Oh, top-middle platform. Not sure why I never thought of going there, great tactical advantage. I’m glad to see I haven’t been playing her all wrong. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, much appreciated <3

No problem!

There is really no carry in the game. It could be called a Harasser instead. Someone who pokes/kites, etc.

My team which has the goal of entering the professional scene has messed around with this meta so far in private matches/skirms with other teams.

A good Harasser will keep an enemy pinned down and punish them for poking out. Your Jungler or Frontline (not tank) will end up with most of the kills.

Best team comp we have found so far. Incursion

Ambra
Kleese/Ghalt
Galilea/Oscar Mike/ Montanna/ Isacc
Phoebe/Benedict
Benedict/Marquis

You have amazing sustain in lane due to Ambra being able to do almost everything besides infiltrate their base due to not having a jump/teleport.

Ghalt is able to punish overextending due to chain, as well CC due to stun at different chokepoints.
Kleese has amazing support abilities, esp at level 5 with passive heal. Can backdoor if need to.

Frontliner here is interesting. Have sustain/stun with Galiliea. Hard counter to healers as well.
Oscar Mike for pushing lanes, as well as sustained damage on other team. All around good pick.
Montanna has decent wave clear, decent sustain damage. Soft CC due to slow plus knock-ups.

Phoebe is amazing. Get into a fight, retreat. Silence if needed, decent waveclear. Fast movement speed. Great 1v1er.

Benedict can play either jungler or harrasser role. Good burst damage on either player or Thrall. Traverse map quickly.

Marquis is much much better than Thorn at harrassing due to being able to do it at range. Thorn has to be up close which is harder to do in Incursion than Meltdown.

Ghalt > another utility/tank?

And yea, I guess calling it harasser fits as a much better definition than carry. But pretty much reiteration as to what I’ve said. I appreciate you guys trying out comps and providing this information. At least there is some confirmation about how I thought this game would be competitively.

All depends on what the team wants/needs.

Ghalt chains in to trap, stun for 2sec. Team burst down 3/4th. Gallelia shield stun, easy to hit due to her being right there, finish the character off. Ghalt is amazing against teams who are pushed back, turtling and punishing people who overextend.

High-level play is all about getting ahead of the other team. Capitalizing on their mistakes.

Ifyou can get an early snowball lead due to teamfight for lightning turret at the beginning, both Ghalt and Kleese are good for different things. Ghalt is good to help push by picking off players. Kleese is good for setting up a defense and poking sentry if the enemy team tries to push back against your team.

I guess I never looked at him in that much of a resourceful way to take a way a second support or a tank role.

Ghalt is hands down a support. Shotgun now does good damage up-close. Pull is absolutely huge. Mines are okay if you get the stealth helix. Otherwise they arent the greatest. He is very team dependant. He wont be able to carry a game in solo-que like other characters, but he brings a lot of utility to the field plus decent single target damage.

I saw him as the “Graves” - a champion from League of Legends. He would be a harasser if it wasn’t for the range he has. So I thought that jungle would be his primary role, but I see how he fits the support role very well.

Yea, he doesnt have enough damage to really effectively jungle as well as other characters. Could even build him tanky and switch him out for the Ambra if you wanted to run a Miko or someone. Since Ambra is more sustain but really has no CC abilities.

Thanks for the insight on this

CC is absolutely huge in this game. Having at least 2 people capable of Hard CC makes teamfights so much easier. Ive played over 50 matches so far, only lost once due to me solo-queuing. CC is the bane of people.

I agree. People with a lot of utility can solo carry games if their team can follow up by shoving lanes.

Have you found any other good team comps? I was thinking about having a kelvin be laner, so that he can stack hp really quickly, and that would allow for another teammate to drop the tank role and play someone with more utility. Maybe having Ghalt be able to play more aggro, and pick up Miko instead of Ambra?

Kelvin needs a buff to his passive or something. Health increase is nice but isnt hard for him to spend so much time focusing on chomping minions and the gain of health isnt very much.

I found he was extremely effective at around 5k hp with a Miko to follow
