All its going to do is make games harder.
You’ll have more high end picking instead of now where everyone just picks ■■■■ w/e.

As in once youve chosen you cant un-choose?
If so then everybody wil just wait to pick last and/or always wait till the last second to pick.
Unless im still misunderstanding?
Well, this is something that even happens with the current character selection (with the sole focus on team composition).
It could arguably get worse if a draft system (with an additional focus on counters/bans) gets implemented.
On the other hand, being able to see enemy picks could bring people who pay no attention to team comp to think about counter picks, possibly resulting in a better team.
This is a great Idea that deserves some serious thought, even with how character selection works now.
I really don’t think this should be in public games. It would make the 5-man premades even more OP. especially when going against nooblets who just picked up the game.
I think they’re just talking about implementing the draft in the competitive queue that is on the way. I will be so excited if that actually happens. The draft makes the game so much more strategic. The lack of something like this right now is the sole reason most of my friends and I stopped playing this game.
(If bans are implemented)
A) Team A bans 1.
B) Team B bans 1.
C) Team A bans 1.
D) Team B bans 1.
(The order in which players pick may be randomized, so in one game you might pick first, while in another game you might pick last. It is also possible that all characters are picked first then the players decide who plays what character.)
Team A picks 1 character.
Team B picks 2 characters.
Team A picks 2 characters.
Team B picks 2 characters.
Team A picks 2 characters.
Team B picks 1 character.
There could be slight variations for how GBX decides to do this.
It’s better not to know. I strongly disapprove to be able to see the enemy teams picks. Overwatch does this because every characters has their skill set and that is it, were as battleborn gives you variety down the helix tree. if you are able to see people would just pick a counter or wait for the opposite team to pick before they do.
it’s better to pick a character and adapt to them depending on who is on the other side once the match starts.
Ex. when I pick Orendi, if i see the enemy team is heavy on melee I will go with her push effect on nullify instead of blind.
in the end it would be harmful
The whole point is to implement a draft. Bans are placed, and then each takes turns choosing. You can get countered, but then your teammates will simply have to counter your counter
@yellow is three steps ahead of me as usual
I dislike the idea of a ban just Cuz the one able only Battleborn tournament I’ve participated in (PS4 SUBREDDIT) my team and I didn’t understand how the draft process worked while our opponents had it down to a science and we got Denied 3 of our best characters.
Admittedly, I was a MUCH worse player back then and only really good with Gali and a bit good with Monty.
That’s the point. Don’t want too many power characters in the game. Makes every game different depending on what characters go first so you know what you need to prioritize with your picks whether it be lane clear or support or whatever. And forces you to get good with other characters.
The issue with being able to see the enemy team’s picks, is that whoever picks first will be at a MASSIVE disadvantage, and everyone will just wait until time runs out to pick more often than not.
If the bans work the way @Yellow explained then i cld adhere to it, i was under the impression that everybody wld just be picking at the same time an the picks wld be visible as chosen. An that i dont agree with, but the bans and/or the taking turns picking cld be ok, but then it runs the problem of the more casual players quitting more, because they wont have mics, an if they cant pick the character they want, they’ll just quit.
“Oh, well that guy that picked first chose OM, an thats my only main so ill just quit an go find a match were i can be my main” - is what im afraid the mentality of the casual player will become.
That makes sense. But wouldn’t that happen under the current system anyways?
Pretty much.
That’s why I have like…
I don’t really have a main anymore.
If I had to choose my favorite as a main, it’d be Orendi, but I haven’t played her in ages.
And I love playing as Phoebe, but same thing.
And Thorn.
And Alani. Actually, I still play Alani. She’s bae. Still need Lifeguards have Given Up, though. Gr.
Deande is a current contender for time.
WF was fun, but he fell off the radar, and I picked up Miko again.
I just love almost all the cast. Lol.
I think I’d do fine in a draft format.
Since Mastering Thorn a couple months ago, my first Master after Gali (who was my VERY first Master), I haven’t played with a character I’ve mastered once aside from a couple matchups in Chaos Rumble.
I’ve been choosing one or two characters and playing exclusively as those 1 or 2 until they are mastered, then moving on and Mastering another one or two.
It’s been amazing!
I’ve been working on Lore for the characters that interest me most, so then I can just choose whomever and work toward rank 15 after a few matches grinding lore.
I’m starting to get to the characters with grindy lore, or don’t like playing much though, so RANDOM GODS.
Honestly, I usually find a team consisting of 3 supports does pretty well. Outside of Miko who is straight support, the other 3 are capable of lots of things. Reyna has a lot of limitations, but Kleese, Ambra, and Alani are all beasts for damage, kills, and wave clear.
I have won most of the games ending up with a 2 to 3 support cast. (Subliminal back check: not in all fact checked (even remotely), could just be a fabrication of my own mind and dispositions. I highly prefer to play support characters.)
PS, why does the Battleborn forum spell check on my computer red underline character names as well as the work Battleborn as if they are misspelled?
Pick order won’t matter until GBX makes a draft and/or a ranked game. It will be needed to do pro-gaming. Also it they don’t allow BANS then some people may leave just from some heros being picked. Imagine if people could see pre- nerfs Gali, the DC, afkers could have pretty high.
Yeah it does, but everybody gets the chance to pick at the same time. Meaning they feel like they have more of a chance, an i feel this different way wld just make that already happening issue to become even more persistent.
Wow! I can’t help but to play my old favorites. Ambra is the only character I’ve truly mastered. Almost there with Orendi. And then I only have two more masters
