what i like with class mode bl3 rather than 2 that is if your have skills point but you didn’t have the skills before it’s give you bonuses while in bl2 you have to active the skills then the class mode work
I do miss the class mods from BL2 that gave you tons of skill points. Perhaps they are being more careful about balance this time?
That said, I love some of the effects on legendary class mods in BL3. Seein’ Dead for Zane. And two legendary class mods for Amara are rather good.
I do wish though that I could tweak some class mods or combine the best stuff from 2 or 3 of them. Custom class mods would be tight.
The way class mods are now it would have been better to make them a build a com get a blank com and enemys and shops drop/sell parts You could Add up to 5 points A special effect (Like legendary coms) and 3 bonuses of your choice
And balance was fine until Ultimate vault hunter mode in 2 i don’t think the vault hunters who where rebalanced for M3 are going to be op in M4 from +5 in 5 skills XD
(Seriously gearbox can’t balance play moze iron bear on True vault hunter mode no mayhem now it’s like I’m 30 levels over XD mayhem 3 is just normal now lol)
??? class mod is impactful , it just getting gd stat being extremely difficult
I mean I guess they are ok? but everyone has 7? class mods and I’d argue that everyone has 1 must use 3 bad and 3 useless/broken coms they at least need to buff/ rework them ^^;
CM’s get even worse when you don’t even like 3 of the VHs…
and the one you like gets a new one that blows everything in this game to kingdome come… and so makes the rest of the VHs even more boring to play… (sorry but amara is just a bad maya rip off, flak is probably the only decent one if his skill was actualy fun and moze… if she didn’t have a skill maybe her skilltrees would be more fun…)
Zane is by far the most fun to play… new CM (and anointed buff) elevated him to be able to solo M4 as fast as the others… (never had trouble surviving… there was just NO damage) before that i actualy ran a no shield zane (to increase… you guessed it… his DPS) wich was fun to do… his skills don’t realy get in the way and are just backup (skills also scaled realy bad in this game)
oh well… this game allways felt like the devs did no playtesting what so ever… and looking at their “limited events” crap it makes it look even more like they are using us to betatest their damn crap instead of actualy knowing what they should do…
have all 4 to level 50 (2 zanes actualy) and i still keep playing zane… the others are just so not fun! part due to ■■■■■■ CM’s
I Thought This As Well. Lol
I wish most of BL2 formula on what made BL2 so great carry over on here. I mean like the HUD, Class Mods, Relics were cool and actually has many uses depending what the person wants. I love the Afterburner relic to make me boost quicker and further. Artifacts here is meh. Only few are worthwhile to use.
I still miss BL2 Class Mods the most. Blue ones even have +6 which can make it better than legendaries depending on one playstyle
I have one that gives 30 in TPS. Still doesn’t help me much in UVHM, but that’s more of a me thing
I am currently using a purple with Moze. I have over two dozen legendaries, none of them work as well as the Epic. Mostly are variants of Green Monster. To be fair, the Green Monsters are pretty good. I think I was just lucky and found an incredible epic.
I think overall the class mods are O.K. I do think the legendaries are lacking. I know I would rather have more points and buffs. Keep it simple.
It is still possible to get +5 but its just very rare. Class mods work differently in 3 because you can use skills on class mods that you’re not even specced into. If bl2 classmods were in bl3 it would be so OP.
Comparing the two games’ class mods based solely on the numbers on the item card skips over any differences in balance and design between the two games’ playable characters.
The main bonus of a Legendary class mod is its unique effect. If that sucks, or isn’t that effective, that’s the main issue. Not the skills boosted, or the distribution of skill points. It’s like comparing a Legendary weapon to a good purple, right? Good purples often have great stats and can outperform a number of Legendaries that sacrifice various stats for the benefit of their unique effect(s).
The RNG in farming, I get, but that’s also a bit of a different argument. Maybe class mods need adding to more dedicated loot pools.
I’d argue that in BL3 the most important thing on a class mod is the Passives. Depending on which mod the legendary effect contends for that spot, but for the most part good passives have the most impact on build performance.
That’s fair, there’s a huge amount of variance in the passive bonuses. But ideally (and as we see with some class mods like, well, Seein’ Dead, as well as Executor with Seein’ Red) the legendary perk itself should also be a “capstone” worth balancing around.
I get that that isn’t the case all of the time, but that’s also not a problem BL2 solved either (which is what kicked off this thread, BL3 class mods vs. BL2 class mods).
I think it’s funny that legendary com effects are basically just better capstones XD I know I’d easily take Seeing dead over the (Whatever its called where the kill skills activate on action skill use) I mean… Each tree could have two cap stones to choose from, god knows I’d love bear trooper as a DW Cap XD
Let’s face it except Megavore? All the capstones are super underpowered and underwhelming
It’s funny to see this thread after what just happened to me running the takedown with Fl4k.
I have had a Friend Bot mod with +3 Barbaric Yawp, +1 PHoaS and +1 ABF with fantastic passives- 45% Hyperion Critical Damage, 45% Jacobs Critical Damage and +50% Torgue Accuracy. I run with a good amount of time, switching between Bounty Hunter, Stalker and Friend Bot, depending on what weapon i have equipped, because of the passives, lol.
I kill Wotan and he drops a new Friend Bot and as i run past it i see only 1 skill on it and its blue. I back up, holy crap it’s +5 Barbaric Yawp!! I am jumping up and down with joy, thats the only skill i care about on that mod and it will actually drastically increase my build!! Even going from +3 to +5 on that particular skill is a huge increase. So im over the moon…until i see the passives- +50% Tediore Accuracy, +50% Torgue Accuracy and +1100 Shield Capacity.
I sold it the first chance i got. Did not even equip it to see how it performed because the loss of all that critical damage on my brainstormer, redistributor, crossroads, butcher, heartbreaker, tankmans shield, maggie, beckha, unforgiven, the duc, lucky 7, one pump chump, stage coach, gatling gun and so on, is not worth +5 Barbaric Yawp.
I mean, if that com had 1, just 1, weapon damage modifier, i might have kept it as an extra friend bot. Hell, i might even have taken + reload speed, + magazine size and action skill cooldown modifier.
So yes, i feel your pain on Class Mod RNG. So brutal. So exhausting.
And they wonder why Save editors and Loot auctions are a thing XD
Not that this helps me as I’m on ps4 with no psn…
Bit of a late bump to this thread, but I forgot to add it the first time around:
BL3 class mods actually activate skills you don’t have levelled, and also ignore any leveling prerequisites. BL2’s didn’t, in either case.
This is a bigger deal in theory than in practise, but it does make respeccing around certain mods more viable.
