Silent Updates?

I’ve noticed that there have been a couple of updates that have come down without any public announcement or changelog posted. Steam did a 116 MB download last night, and I think I remember there being one other instance of this as well. Any feedback on what’s going on there?

And before anyone asks, yes, it was a download for the base game, not workshop content.

I poked around my files some and the only modification data that recent I see is HomeworldRM/Data/HW1Campaign.big nothing and I suck at reading dates.

I also looked around and saw nothing. I wonder what Steam was downloading then.

Mod Updates, I think, sometimes I wish their auto update could be disabled and they allowed you to run the game without the mod updates, since they aren’t critical.

As I said, it wasn’t workshop content, meaning it wasn’t a mod.

I got two workshop content updates recently, couldn’t figure out what was updated either. I wish Steam told us

Go to the HW workshop, on the right side drop-down menu next to your avatar that says “Your Files”, choose “Subscribed items”, then on that page, sort by “Date updated” in another drop-down menu on the right side. That lets you easily see which mods were updated and when.

Awesome!

So it was the Balance Testing Mod and the B5 mod… Nice

Yup, looks like there’s going to be weekly updates (give or take) on the balance mod at least, probably depending on feedback.

There most likely will not be an update today. Remember, 1 little change effects a whole lot of things. Tweaking multi vettes is making us do a full pass on all vettes, and that is taking more time then what we have to push out an update today.

I’ll try to pick my head up from time to time and give some updates on our progress.

I would still love to know what causes this, as it does still happen on rare occasion, though I suspect if an answer exists it would probably have to come from Valve…

Screenshot from April 13 (today)

I received updates for Homeworld, as well as like 6 other games today. I’m fairly certain they were from Valve.

I think it’s something messed up with Steam.
I had 10 updates, several of them 0k.
Even had an update to game not even installed - Divinity Original Sin.

This time the updates are on Steam’s end: https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/4eohr1/huge_0_byte_error_on_steam_post_your_experiences/

I just wanted to throw in a screenshot of similar things for me. as you can see, this happened for a 24 games. Before that I got an update of 0 bytes for 46 or 48 games (I cant remember).
