I heard someone say in another thread that they had Battleborn as part of the Humble Bundle recently, so that probably bumped the numbers up a bit, but as @SgtRufus said, it’s keeping those players that’ll be the hard part

I was happy to see that last night as well. They literally doubled the number of players over the last few weeks. Yeah, yeah doubling 500 isn’t that big of a deal, but it’s a good start.
Tomorrow will be a huge day. 3 new maps will bring back some old players. Along side the humble bundle sale I would guess we may see the numbers float between 1500-2000. How many of those we retain is really up to how smooth the Thursday update goes and how um… “nice?” the pvp players are going to be.
Last night we encountered a few really low level groups and all start playing new people or doing silly crap. Can you say offensive Miko? CQ Marquis? We actually ended up losing one match because of it, but I’m sure the newbies enjoyed it.

The low over last night was higher than most peaks from the past 2 weeks. Humble bundle or not, this is fantastic news with the number at 930 right now. Can’t wait to see today’s peak.

We are currently at 1415, it hasn’t peaked yet, and it’s a Wednesday. Congratulations gbx, whether it’s humblebundle or loot event or whatever, it’s working.

Edit: I can’t wait to see all the media outlets spin this to be another bad thing for Battleborn. Oh wait GameSpot already has :stuck_out_tongue:

@jjand302

and these numbers are before the patch. I think what we are seeing are new players brought in by the low price.

Does anyone have a sense for this in PVP. I don’t play over there.

I did a search for the Humble Bundle earlier, and places like Polygon and EuroGamer are also making this out to be a bad thing. Seriously, of all the things they could’ve focused on, it was the fact that BB was $15 in the bundle.

Are these sites just massive OW fanboys or did Blizzard pay everyone off to s**t stomp over BB?

It was shown back in gamergate that most major gaming media sites would collaborate as to what they were going to give positive/negative press on. Maybe Battleborn/gbx/2k got on their bad side. Either that or considering ow did get all those ridiculously high reviews in comparison, maybe they really are deep in blizzards pockets. Sorry. Bit of a rant.

Anyway. 1435 and counting.

Amazing. I’m personally expecting a small drop followed by steady growth after this.

Definitely the humblebundle sale. I’ve been like a fly on $#^t watching the pop since release. “Lootpocalypse” didn’t really bring much to the table outside of a minor increase of players and regulars staying on a little longer.
The humble sale has just seen a steady increase of players as the word gets out. I could see the population, post humble sale and patch, settling in between 1500-2000 players on-line on average peaking at around 2200 or so. At least that’s my prediction. I hope I’m wrong and it’s higher!
While I’m sure those aren’t going to be the numbers GB (or that go frak yourself 2K) were hoping for, it will breathe a little life into this game! I’m honestly getting sick of playing against the same people in PvP. Be nice to see some new faces.

Right now 1.600 playing…all time high since breakdown after release. Looks good

Edit: Dunno, but dont get any matches this evening…“a player left due to a matchmaking error” or something. Maybe server overload???

We’re breaking the servers, dude!

I’ve seen a whole lot more low CR people lately and I think that’s a good idea. Them getting stomped…not so much.

We just encountered that. 3 of us got partied with 2 CR100’s and went up against really low CR’s two matches in a row.
We random’d the first game and kind of half-assed it until the 10 minute mark then ended it.
Second team we weren’t sure if they were just screwing with us so we kind of played even until we realized they were actually newbies. (Apparently there’s people buying new copies of the game to “smurf” other high level teams. This is a thing? News to me, but w/e.)

I guess the point is, for those of us still here from day 1, please… just take it easy on newbies for the first 15 or 20 minutes. Then feel free to get the win. Hell, even let them take the first sentry down a little. I know it’s cheesy, but at least they’ll learn a little and not get frustrated with a steamroll.

Today’s peak was 1925. I won’tbe surprised if we break 2000 this weekend!

Let’s face it it’s all thanks to the humblebundle.

and if the game keeps bugging and not recording progress, we’ll have lost everything we won with humble bundle soon enough.

I love seeing the increased playerbase… I don’t love seeing queue times still take ridiculously long at times. Does anyone know if ELO matchmaking was enabled again?

Incursion is still the mode to go if you want a fast matching.

Agreed…but also the lootpocalypse…

More new players and more loot…I like where they are headed.

Everyone. The peak hit 2309 today. That’s about 4 times as many than our average before.
