Single Player Story Mode scaling

Maybe it’s just me, but I didn’t find being swarmed out of the gate and dying halfway down the first corridor every attempt a whole lot of fun. I didn’t see a lot of difference in the mob count compared to multi player.

Oscar Mike by himself just couldn’t kill fast enough on normal mode. Slowest reload speed, ever.

Also, I’m not sure if there’s a planned run through of how things work that eases you into the game in the full version or not, but the lack of one here makes getting started not all that enjoyable for folks who want to get up to speed using single player.

It takes a little bit to get used to it but you’ll get it. I died quite a bit my first story mission but have got the hang of it better now.

Were you playing solo though? Might be best to play public at first until you get some good gear and understand the helix better. With Oscar Mike for example, you can help up his reload speed with gear.

heh. You think Oscar Mike’s reload is bad, try Whiskey Foxtrot when you unlock him.

I’d recommend solo first, actually. The number of enemies and how tough they are scales with the number of players. If you don’t know what to expect in an area it can be very easy to die in a group of 5 and since all the extra lives are shared, it can be even easier to wipe in the story mode with a group as opposed to alone…

For soloing I advise patience. The first encounter is always the hardest as you only have your first helix level. With Oscar Mike, take some pot shots, pop stealth and retreat. Rinse and repeat. Once you start getting some helix abilities under your belt you’ll starting clearing rooms without needing to retreat much, if at all.
