I don’t agree. Balancing a game is to me more about whether enemies have too much health or whether enough guns can do enough damage against them. If one or two guns are particularly powerful I don’t see why they need to be nerfed at all. Let people use it if they want. People always have the choice to use them or not and generally speaking these things tend to have a honeymoon period anyway where people will use the bejeesus out of them and then get bored and move onto other things. I used the Anarchy a lot when it first came out and now I don’t even think it’s in my backpack, even though it’s one of the most powerful things out there. But it’s nice to know I can use it if I want to.

There’s absolutely no need to nerf a gun on the basis it’s too strong. Not in a PvE game. If people aren’t using anything else then the question should be why other weapons aren’t as much fun. Fun being the key word in a game like Borderlands.

There are some in the world who would have nerfed the BFG

Do you mean the BFG from doom games?
Why do you think there’s barely any ammo for it? In the new titles you can carry a total of three ammo for it.

Picture this: a work-in-progress level in doom has six bfg ammo pickups in it. During testing, they find that they want the game to be harder and for players to use other weapons. So they remove two of the ammo pickups, i.e. nerfing the bfg. Does this scenario really sound impossible to you?

In BL3’s case also, the state of the game that you are defending is also 99% likely the result of buffs AND nerfs. Yeah we like to laugh at GBX’s lack of foresight, but even they must have tweaked the numbers around a bit before launch at least. I remember Guerillas in the Mist being one of the first nerfs everybody got mad about - what if it did even more damage during development, and it was already nerfed, you just didn’t know about it?

Just wiped out Amoch and his crew, TVHM, M10, with a run-of-the-mill Mindsweeper and a non-elemental 125% incendiary Cheap Tips /2500-ish damage without being downed.

You guys really need to try harder to prove guns don’t work in M10. They probably don’t if you run in with garbage miss-matched equipment and they shouldn’t.

A little effort and smart play and you’ll find lots of stuff that works and it makes M10 a blast!

Ah ha, there’s the overpowered item that needs to get nerfed next.

Nooooooooo!!!

That’s the problem… People just assume that M10 is going to be just like the old M4. But weapon damage was increased 2.5x and health/shield/armor bumped up to 12500%. It just makes sense that you need to find synergy with your gear and the new Mayhem 2.0.

You cannot expect to jump into M10 with your old setup, no matter how much the YT’s told you their builds were ready, and plow through everything in your path. You’re going to need the best of the best with older gear… And anointments are huge. Sure, the Yellowcake, OPQ, and Kaoson make it easier… but I’m not seeing videos of your casual players doing a TTD run… Or surviving a run at any of the CoS… or proving grounds. What’s happening, I suspect, is that a lot of players are killing mobs relatively quickly, but what is their success rate over all? How often are you dying?

Here’s my personal example of using a weapon I loved prior to Mayhem 2.0: The Clairvoyance… I needed to farm for a near perfect one for my Amara, Fl4k, and Zane builds. The damage needed to be high, the anointments perfect, and all my other gear needed to synergize with it. After playing around for a bit, I was able to make it nearly as effective as pre-2.0. It took work to figure it out and make it happen. But that’s the problem… People want to jump into M10 without doing any work and have everything be peachy clean like it was before. We were all getting complacent with the old Mayhem levels… There was nothing left that was challenging. Now we have things to work towards, but rather than do that, most of the players are calling for buffs and nerfs without so much as putting any time or thought into their builds. If you want a walk in the park, use a trainer

Empty vessels make most noise.

If they nerf yellowcake before fixing whatever issue is causing 99% of weapons to be useless in mh10, then I’m out.

Using OPQ, Sandhawk, yellowcake, and kaoson for everything is getting stale and I don’t think nerfing them is the appropriate response.

I won’t play a game where “end game” is getting arthritis from unloading 20 magazines into 1 red bar enemy.

I’m gonna change my tune here a little bit after trying Yellowcake with different anoints and multiple “optimized” Moze builds.

On my radiation Deathless Moze build, I found using a Yellowcake x1 variant with cyber spike anoint does an okay damage but not OP against the Maliwan enemies in solo TTD M10. However on my Splash Moze build with a Yellowcake x2 variant with 300 anoint, it’s decimates almost everything.

So one lesson here: you need the right build, right weapon, right variant, right anoint at the very least to make rhe Yellowcake really OP. Once you have the appropriate build it’s stupid OP.

People are sleeping on that 300 annointment. That is the NEW ‘sntl cryo’ but only for launchers. Have a shock plaguebearer with one It’s naaaaasty

I have that anointment on my Unseen Threat for my Amara build… It’s insane.

yeah I have it on my OPQ…nuff said!

Or you could just not use it. I really only break it out for mega bullet sponges and FFYL in m10. If it’s not affecting your gaming experience then chill on the nerf talk. Or we will be back to scourge unforgiven swapping.

The Yellowcake is all about splash damage.

Totally agree on this one. I can understand that people are yelling at nerfing stuff because they are too OP. However, this is a full PVE game. How does these OP weapons influence one’s own game experience anyway? Simply use that as a fail safe @ m10 or don’t  .

Unless the reason of nerfing these weapons is only that ‘new players beat the M10 too easy, they shall suffer!!’ Well, then i second this!! But please wait until I myself become one of those ‘seniors’ lol.

Exactly. In fact in all the Multiplayer games I’ve joined I rarely see anyone use it. It’s great for farming bosses on M10(with their abysmal dedicated drop rates), or getting a second wind. But in common mobbing you’ll likely blow yourself up if an enemy runs too close, and it is most effective at a certain range.
I just don’t understand ppl asking for nerfs. Just like the DPUH in BL2, if you don’t like it don’t use it. Ppl really enjoy it. And if you think it breaks the game(it doesn’t), don’t use it. Not everyone is an elite player with a perfect gear set for their build. And if you are, you’ll still outshine a newer player by using reliable gear while they blow themselves with the yellowcake.
Now the modded guns floating around are a different story…

I have a buddy that had every modded weapon in BL2…he didn’t stick with the game very long.

These weapons don’t attract long term players, in fact by their nature they don’t encourage game longevity with the user.

I have two of them. Do I use them. Here and there but basically I don’t. If you feel like it unbalances your game don’t use it.

I think people believe that there is some type of status to being able to play the game at M10. And that this weapon makes it too easy to get there. There are many different ways to play the game. Find the one that you like and have fun. Don’t worry about how other people play the game.

Gearbox needs to focus on real issues that the game has. This type of thing is trivial and not worth the time IMO.

Tbis article is nonsense.

The yellow cake to do great damage.requires you to get a perrfect distance so that it ezplodes and then the 4 spawning balls splash also.

Ita not effective vs armor enemies. Enemies with shields well radiation is the only alternative to shock and for shields.

To get one shotter status you need to combine alot of modifiers and have coms with bonuses and artifact bonuses and also an annoint.

It doesnt need a damage nerf at all as i can spam the plaguebearer and some other rocket launchers with modifiers and do the same thing especially with slayer. If anything

As it stands most of the guns in this game dont scale up to par anymore.

Nerf what the yellow cake.by itself is garbage

Stop balancing this game off youtube videos with gear most ppl dont have.
