I am having the same “problems” actually. But the thing is, it is not as bad as everybody is trying to make it look. I am also having unfair match-ups every now and then(Not every time, though, pretty sure people are exaggerating, or extremely unlucky). Starting from level 8 I’ve stopped paying attention to that, and you know what? I’ve started to notice that in the end you’re still getting points, you’re still getting experience, you can still fulfill challenges, unlock new characters, get loot… And now all I am doing is trying my best. If I am losing - I am trying to make the game as long as possible, so I can get more rewards. It really is a matter of how you look at things.
I’m not exaggerating chief. Maybe it’s just really random but I played 5 games and EVERY SINGLE ONE was a pre made against my pug . I’ve had games tonight where it was a 40-50 pre made versus my pug and we had a lvl 2. No really. Finally got a true random and had a blast. Tried a new too pn just for fun and it was competitive. But it’s soooo inconsistent.
My conclusion is it’s the wait time. If they did true competitive match ups the leet groups would have to wait longer and they don’t want that.
Oh and my last group. I have all teens or less. My opponents have 3 50+. I quit and went to bed. What is the point of bothering? So so very bad. If I could leave a Yelp review for battle born, it would get a C- or D+. The sad part is they’ve got my 60 bucks already. Why should they care the multi player experience is utter crap.
They is match making its just not based of rank as that means jack ■■■■ when it comes to how good you are.
The matchmaking between players seems to be pretty on point, the issue is they don’t consider a 5 man team of people in party chat with the same combined skill level as a group of pubs thrown together for the match with the same combined skill to be different.
Getting people to work together and communicate is paramount in this game. They succeeded in making a game that actually, unlike most team based games out right now, requires people to work together to win… then completely failed to do anything to their matchmaking to reflect that.
I have seen a game of pubs successfully beat a premade team twice, and never any sort of decisive victory. Which is really cool honestly, I like that this game requires teamwork and love to play it with my friends, talking and setting up combos and synergies. But when they aren’t on, I’m no longer even bothering to play and it’s only been out a week. I still love the game, and want to play, but don’t because of the MM system so I hope they can do something.
I think it may of been said but you can get to 20 easily without stepping into PvP, so the command ranks arn’t always a great indicator of skill. you can also be 20 and suck badly because you get xp for losses too.
I think whats needed is a new rank system for pvp to help match ups.
I’ve actually seen match making get better. I play with a group that averages out to a level 22 and we’ve played, more or less, around the same level of competition. Teamwork is what set us over the top, not our individual levels.
Lol you know what’s funny? These problems aren’t exclusive to just BB. If you’re referring to Overwatch as the game you want to go to then try it out.
I recommend teaming up with people. Makes the game a lot better.
I think that making the assumption that GBX doesn’t care just because they have your money is a bit of a leap. The game hasn’t been out that long and tuning and balance take time. Look how many iterations Destiny has gone through before people stopped complaining about it (Many still do, but it’s far less than it used to be).
Trust me, I’ve been burned plenty of times by matchmaking (12 game losing streak, always individually placing first or second in the game). Does it suck? Yes. No one wants to lose. In order to make matching better, GBX has to come up with a solution that is fair and doesn’t create insanely long match times. I, personally, would rather play a losing game every now and again than wait 10 minutes for a match.
Not to mention, Battleborn is a unique game. As many have said, determining a player’s skill isn’t the easiest feat. While Command Rank is a factor, I’ve steamrolled teams of higher level players. If anything, an average score per game could potentially be a good metric to use. However, I’m sure this will cause griping because of how score is tallied (Low score gain from minion kills/buildables). Again, though, something like this could cause inordinately long matchmaking times.
Like Dominator2864 said, some of the premade groups are just friends who have known each other for quite some time and just group up to go have fun and game together.
This is how my group is, we all have been gaming together for years and to be honest we’re usually pretty good at whatever we’re playing, but we aren’t going “tryhard” in this game yet because 1) We are still learning everything about it, 2) We’ve never played a MOBA, 3) We’re just having fun and generally just messing around. For example, we all picked a big character who we never use. We got face rolled horribly but we couldn’t stop laughing at how ■■■■■■■■ we all were playing. We like to have fun! Point is, not all premade teams are just going to be all MLGpro, some are just a group of friends there to have fun as well.
On another note, if you’re basing the ranking of matchmaking off the players levels my group would be all over the place (Levels 34, 31, 15, 17, 27) so I imagine it’d be hard to get out group into the “proper” game.
This statement implies that you don’t play competitive often. Now, there’s nothing wrong with that and that’s not a dig at you, mind - it’s more of an observation than anything else.
All I can say is that these things happen sometimes, even amongst people who are evenly skilled in a game (you ever watched an Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournament? oh boy…). Ideally, everyone likes to have those games that come down to the wire, with a dozen or so kills per person per side. But as we all know life is tricky like that; sometimes you make a single mistake that snowballs, and sometimes you simply get outplayed despite you and your teammates doing everything right. You just have to grit your teeth and move on, and hope that the next match is better for everyone.
I’d like to add my dissatisfaction with the matchmaking as well. It’s horrific. Love the game, hate the matchmaking.
Well you’re quite wrong.
I wrote this for GearBox.
im tired of being matched with lvl 3’s. im lvl 61. stop this nonsense.
Just read this, and I would really love for there to be a ranked PvP mode added to Battleborn in the (near) future
Just got queued max lvl 25 against a team of full 70+.
We all left instantly.
The rest of my post stands. Sometimes you get good games regardless of skill and team composition and sometimes you get steamrolled.
The rest of my post stands.
"I was completely and utterly wrong about my judgements, but I’m still right anyways"
That, is a terrible attitude.
And with that, I’m done with both you and this topic since you didn’t bother to read the rest of either post apparently. Good day to you and yours, and may the Force be with you.
ranked pvp would be nice. but would have to require a mic. more btchin if you played ranked and got someone who cant communicate
