Idk… I think there are enough choices in the game, i.e., difficulty settings and mayhem modes, that being forced to add more skill points and increase your level is not a bad thing. Currently, level 50 gear can quite literally carry you through most of the game content even if you are level 53.

I just don’t see the issue of having to refarm for gear. It’s always been a part of Borderlands and what makes it fun.

I rather not refarm 140 items. 3 Bekahs being part of it. In 2 it was a nonissue since the item count didnt get into the triple digits until recent years.

the problem is probably just that even getting 1 “perfect” part for your build can take weeks or even months

On M4 I’ve never real had an issue getting perfect parts. It takes awhile to get what you need to really grind in M4, but once you have the base gear, getting good rolls isn’t too bad… unless you’re trying to get a god roll for your gear.

Gearbox has done a good job in keeping the anointed drop rate high. It’s more uncommon to see something drop without an anointment, than it is to see it with one. And borderlands 2 had a lot of great gear. I mean, pearlescents, seraph gear, and then effervescent with the Commander Lilith DLC.

a god roll is a synonym for a perfect roll

Yeah, I know that… but they aren’t required… they are sought after. You don’t need a perfect or god roll piece of gear to play in M4. To beat the TMT in M4…yeah, you’ll need some extra special gear…

your goal in the game is basically to get those perfect rolls for your character
its a looting game
and then finally you get this roll and you celebrate for a whole day and then…levels get increased

Then you just do it again… Since it’s a loot shooter. Go shoot and loot some more. I’m all for added content no matter if it includes a level increase or not. I do remember when the Jackob’s Halloween DLC came out for BL1 and didn’t include any level cap increases. People were going crazy as to why there would be no level cap increase and what would be the point of playing the DLC… Now, we get all this content and end of game activities, and people still complain…It’s funny…lol… and also not funny. Be happy you’re getting anything at all.

Why? To rinse wash and repeat a few weeks later? Then two months later you get to do it again? Yay…
Most people will just leave until the last level cap hits if we go down that rabbit hole :joy:

i said, i would be happy about a larger level increase to enable a 4th skilltree
but just increasing the cap all 1 or 2 months and always having to farm for your main gear again or even losing your perfect drop, is just pointless

I think that’s better than years between…lol… BL2 went dead for a long time, other than your core faithful. Sure, it may chase some away, but not me. Are you going to quit playing? If so, that’s your choice… But, you know what? That choice is always there. Doom Eternal is coming out…lol… I think having choice is better than not. Maybe they won’t force you to level up by adding UVHM… or something like that in addition to M 2.0. Either way, I’m excited for all the new content and for having to refarm for higher level gear again. It’s always been the MO of Borderlands. Gear farming… Because it’s happening sooner than some may have wanted is just a pointless argument, imo. Obviously, some of you here feel differently, and that’s ok. I like what’s happening and I’m looking forward to more BL3 content. Hell… bring on BL4 sooner rather than another 7 long years…lol

BS micro leveling isn’t something I remember from 2 or tps. OP levels and their version of ng+ are awesome aspects to increase difficulty based on a personal preference, making farming pointless when farming is one of the core aspects of the game is just stupid. That’s why the majority of players would simply walk away. How would that help the game or anyone’s godking to add?

Maybe we should wait for details on what the level cap increase would entail before complaining about it? March 24 is less than a week away.

you can bring new content, new gear, new story, new enemies, new skills and buff and debuff stuff
there are many ways to keep players engaged and make them farm new stuff and try out new builds without making all their achievments obsolete

I vote for a level cap raise every week. Do it for a year.

Now I wanna see how many people are still playing after a year.

Level cap raises are BL’s true spirit? Then why not do it more? The more, the merrier

If we are getting frequent small increases in the level cap, institute a crafting system. Which was essentially the OP’s suggestion. And the suggestion of approximately 32 berjillion other posts on these forums.

Is there anyone out there who thinks Diablo 3’s endgame loot system, which has crafting, gear upgrading, and uses for multiple currencies, is worse than BL3?

Is there anyone who is going to seriously argue that those features detract from endgame?

Is there anyone who will argue that the fact that there was only one level-cap increase for D3 was actually a bad thing? That there should have been a cap increase from 60 to 63, then another to 66, then another to 70? Or that there should have been further increases beyond 70?

I like playing endgame content, developing new builds and ways to use pieces of gear that I find, and pushing my builds and characters as far as I can take them.

That’s what BL2 (and D3 for that matter) did so well. In both cases the cap raise came with significant new content (new skills, gear, and crafting in D3, pearlescents and new COMs in BL2). A new level cap, standing alone, is not new content - it’s just arbitrarily forcing players to replay old content.

Re-getting the weapons at a new level is a PITA, but not impossible. Getting the gear you want again with the ANOINTMENT you want is a good way to make farming very unpleasent. I was lucky to get Wedding Invitations from people with the anointment I wanted. Same with getting a 53 Bekah aka FLK4K’s right hand of doom, with the right anointment off someone. I do NOT want to have to keep doing this again and again, some of us don’t have the time, and for crying out loud, Doom Eternal comes out tomorrow and RE3 in two weeks!

it wasnt actually my intention to speak up for crafting because there are other threads already
and please dont bring in this bfebfewuhdej game
in diablo 3, people are farming for BiS gear every few months in a new season because it only takes a few hours, because the game is a joke

But we don’t know if the new cap is a stand alone… And it’s actually not. Like I said before, the cap increase this time around is because of Mayhem 2.0. Now, this is just speculation at this point, but seems to be heading in that direction. In order to get to Mayhem lvl 10 we are going to need more skill points to help balance that out. Same as was done in BL2 with increases from 60 to 72 then to 80, not to mention the OP levels. So in BL2, while the OP levels were a choice, you had to refarm every couple of OP levels in order to progress. Granted, you had the choice to do that or not. Since Mayhem 2.0 is sounding like it will be similar to the OP levels, minus the health regen on the enemies, then it just makes sense that we would be given a choice if we want to enable those new Mayhem levels or not. But, again, we are just speculating at this point.

How many times did you refarm for gear in BL2? Did you not think that was going to happen again in BL3? While the crafting system in D3 sounds nice, idk if GBX will go that route since this is BL and not Diablo.

People did that in BL2, as well… I mean, there were certain quest items that you would save/quit/copy sav file, redo until you got the one or one’s you wanted. Oh well…lol…
