A lot of people just heard that term and stick with it, including much of the so called “video game press”
ill take the word of the so called video game press over a developers any day. lets face it, developers job is to develop, hype, and get their game sold, so honesty doesnt come in. Be real here, if a developer says, hay, we got a good game, but it has some flaws in it, but we plane on fixing those later so buy our game, do you think people would run out and buy it now, or wait till its fixed first. So ya, ill take press over developers any day. And i didnt just hear the tem MOBA, i know what one is, and even the devs have said, it does have some moba elemants, but mostly a FPS. Its been stated in a few of the interviews about it
We have a good game. It has some flaws in it, but we plan on fixing those.
Without trying to start anything major here, what you are saying is one of the things hurting the gaming industry IMO. By classifying a game as only one type, you are limiting what you want to see about the game and thus creating opinions about it that may or may not be true. Yes, there are MOBA elements in it so much as it is multiplayer, can be played with others through internet, and has matches.
Also, it is the job of developers to be proud of the products they are creating, that is true. They will talk it up and make it sound amazing. From sitting on the panels for this game, I can assure you that they not only have the passion, but the heart for this game.
But I am just one gamer in a sea of many.
i think you may have misunderstood or i didnt word it right. But we do all have our own opinions, and @Jythri i was referring to when the game is released, not while still in development, but its all good, i did get a good chuckle at that, thanks
Mission accomplished.
Nice, no disrespect meant towards the Devs, just pointing out that it is your job to hype your game, not saying its not good, cause i do like some of what i see, just not my type of game so far from what ive seen. im sure all are working hard to put out what they think of as a good game, i applaud you all and your work.
Thanks for allowing me to have my own opinion. I was worried there you wouldn’t let me.
The game isn’t a MOBA.
I don’t understand these kind of posts. Please don’t take this the wrong way because it is really curiosity but if the game doesn’t interest you why you are posting in forums about it?
I ask because I’ve seen a lot of this and it generally confuses me. There are 1000’s of video games and few interest me, I spend time on the games that do interest me and I don’t spend time in the ones that don’t.
Why spend time making any posts at all, not to mention many in a game you don’t plan on playing?
simple, it doesnt interest me at the moment, but does show promise, so i keep an eye and post things, waiting to see or hear anything that may get me interested in it. All im saying is at this point i havnt seen enough to make me get it, doesnt mean that somewhere down the line they might show something that does make me want to play.
Hope that answered u @Derch Just cause we arent into it now, doesnt mean we wont be latter, we can change our minds, right, especailly for us woman, we allways are changeing our minds, LOL Now i cant say everyone posting is for the same reasons, but this is my reason. its all good
Thats fair enough, thanks for the response and nice one as well.
As long as it has an entertaining story I can play with friends and interesting characters, I’ll be happy.
Suddenly I want to see a TF2 Soldier reskin for Oscar Mike as a pre-order bonus. Maybe an Oscar Mike helmet for TF2 as well…
The PvP reminds me a bit of a MOBA game, with minions and tower like structures. That’s actually what got me into the PvP a lot. My only thing is the Story mode. It seems very guided, and considering that you play one of the many heroes in the game there is little space or time to explore ESPECIALLY in matchmaking. If they are going for a guided story then that’s fine. But considering how gearbox made Borderlands/Borderlands 2, people are thinking this is going to be similar.
All in all, my opinion:
-PvP is awesome and I can play that all day. Competitively or just for fun. And NO I do not think there should be a pre-set for Helix. Skills are pretty diverse except for some that are just Quality of Life changes(ie. double jump)
-PvE is awkward at times especially when people rush through the level.
In-game chat is not working I assume for Xbox One? I have yet to hear anyone since the day the test started.
Question: Do you feel as if the game is too diverse? When I play the game I actually don’t know what to call the type of game it is. Its not just a MOBA, or a FPS, or an FPSRPG. Me and My wife both got the technical test and she is not into MOBAS but that’s not what steered her away. She stated that the game play is very fast paced, but some of the flashes on the screen from skills/enemies along with a crap ton of things happening at once in story mode(along with unorganized team) turned her off from it. This goes the same for Borderlands but the shell-shading helped(her second favorite game). And this is coming from someone who religiously plays Call of Duty.
It’s what would happen if TF2 and Borderlands had a baby that enjoyed MOBA’s. It has the leveling in game like a MOBA would, TF2 style pvp, with Borderlands style writing and action. Look at that and in less than a paragraph.
Please inform us of the RPG elements you speak of?
An in match rank from 1-10 and a Commander rank that ONLY unlocks the rarity level of loot packs.
So please let me in on the RPG elements you speak of sir.
Game feels really really shallow as a storyline/mission based game and sounds like GB wants a microtransation heavy pvp moba IMO.
Not for me or my Borderlands fans.
Well you got to remember this is only part of the game. And from some of what the mods/developers are saying, they want the game to be mission based. I said it felt like an “FPSRPG” aka borderlands style mostly from how the one story mission plays out(not to mention the boss entry and humor). I felt that way first playing through it. After playing through it a couple times, it felt more along the lines of Destiny missions.
If you’re melee, good luck, camp + grenade + mines = You’re dead on that push in seconds…
Even if you have a bad bird on your side, they kinda understand the style of play.
So basically - Anything ranged > everything else in the game…Good job Gearbox.
