I have 16 days, 18 hours, and 31 minutes on Zane. This is the first time I’ve ever considered rolling another character. There is a clear difference in what Amara is capable of and every other character. I’m sure if I put the same effort into Amara as Zane, I could walk around one shotting things. Besides having a digiclone, there’s nothing I can do that she can’t do better. This goes with basically any VHer at the moment vs. Amara.
There’s not much of a difference between saying she’s the only balanced one and she’s terribly broken if everyone else is by several degrees weaker. Tomato tomahto.
There’s actually nothing saying she can’t already do that.
I would say that Salvador and Amara at this point of time are a fair comparison to each other. Some Zanes have trouble hitting 50k damage with anything they do. Amara’s Unleash The Dragon relic with little investment does about that much per tick of DoT.
That would be good. They could also change an iron bear augment to give healing and change daka bear and auto bear so that you can use iron bear more like Axtons turret. That would help with healing as well as make iron bear more useful overall
I don’t understand the perspective that says - and I guess this includes Gearbox? – that Amara is fine. (I have most of my playtime as FL4K, by way of background, but have them all at 50)
Like, how does it make sense that you can stack a crazy amount of action skill damage and trigger anointments on demand by missing phasegrasp? To me that is items not doing what they say. The anointments say they are tied to action skill use but you don’t actually use phasegrasp
Ties comes across as a huge outlier compared to basically all damage-dealing abilities in the game. Does anyone use variations of phase-grasp that are not ties? Doesn’t that suggest a failure of design?
When these update rolled around, I was surprised that these interactions were entirely unchanged, since they are more powerful than other interactions that were nerfed
I agree that many of those interactions are probably not working as intended and I would be okay with this fixing them. However, if we look at most of Amara’s action skill options, most of them are basically pointless. noone uses the eternal fist,deliverance, reverberation,tandova, downfall, fracture, or even phasecast or phaseslam with the exception of proc’ing anointments. Additionally, her augments revelation and glamour are pretty much useless as well. Overall, even Amara has issues that need fixing just like the other vault hunters. She is just fortunate enough to have some things that are powerful to make up for it.
I absolutely disagree. At the end of the day, this game is meant to be fun and enjoyable with all characters. When three of the characters aren’t even performing well in Mayhem 3 that is not because one characters is better than them, it’s because they are unbalanced and need fixing. Amara plays just fine and is fun to play as and can take on all the content in the game. The characters currently can’t. So saying that she needs to be taken down a notch in order to make the other characters feel better about sucking right now isn’t helping the ultimate goal of making the game fun.
There is a huge difference between being op and being the only balanced character. For a character to be capable of completing all content should be considered balanced. Having multiple characters not capable of completing a lot of content isn’t balanced. It isn’t tomato tomahto.
Every vault hunter was capable of beating all of the content in BL2. That’s not the case in this game.
I think there’s quite a bit of bias here. The other characters aren’t struggling in mayhem 3. I wasn’t struggling in mayhem 3 unless the modifiers were overwhelmingly negative.
Amara doesn’t really struggle at all at anything. She doesn’t play “just fine” she’s clearly superior. That would be fine if the others were remotely close, but they aren’t because she’s a HUGE outlier.
If one person gets an A+ on a test in a class and the other 99% of the class outright fails, the one person who passed isn’t “an okay student” and everyone else an idiot, there’s clearly an issue with the instructor.
Posting this thread seems risky, I suspect Gearbox may not react the way you want them to when they see Amara speed running M4 Raids solo.
I honestly do not care about about that myself as I am enjoying Iron Bear buffs and want them to focus on bug fixing right now, but Gearbox is Gearbox.
