Hey!
Tried to play Borderlands 2 on PC but couldn´t really due to a rhythmic framespike which occurs like a heartbeat at every point of the game (starting screen, menus, settings, ingame etc… everywhere and all the time) and apparently always at the end of a frame cycle, please have a look at the screenshot.
I capped it at 60 frames so you can see it better. If I run the game at 120 FPS the distance between the spikes on the graph has double the length, if I cap it at 30 FPS it has half the length and so on. It always fits the framerate in a ratio, no matter which quality or setting combinations I chose ingame and in the Nvidia control panel or in the Nvidia Inspector (cap frames here, cap frames there, G-Sync on or off, VSync on or off, different max FPS ingame or through the Nvidia panels, latency modes, all the usual stuff).
I also already tried to tinker with the WillowEgine.ini, tried to go offline and to cut off the PC from the internet, had a look at the usage of GPU, CPU, SSD and network (no bottlenecks, no spiking), tried different monitors (LG C1 120Hz and Acer Full HD 60Hz, normally used in dual setup but already tried out both alone)… no game.
It´s almost as if the game does some kind of “tick” every second that causes the spike, you can even see a flickering on the monitor if GSync is activated. And it is just this game, other games including Borderlands 3 run fine. Or at least have comprehensible problems.^^
My specs:
Asus PRIME B450M-A II
AMD Ryzen 5 3500X 6x 4.1GHz
16GB DDR4-RAM PC-3200 (2x 8GB) dual channel
Nvidia GeForce RTX3060 12GB
NVME M.2 SSD 1TB Kingston A2000
Game is vanilla, I did not mod. Already installed it anew and deleted all setting files in the documents, now I´m out of ideas. Does anybody have an idea what could cause this issue? I would be very grateful and give my thanks in advance!
Edit: It´s the steam version, I´m on Windows 10 and I´m on the latest GPU drivers but also tried older driver versions.
SOLVED: DisplayFusion is the culprit. If I deactivate it the spikes vanish, if I reactivate it the spikes are back. That was the last thing I could think of because I´m using it all the time and it never interfered with anything.
