Just played against an alani and miko on a team with no support. They were trying to hold lane with alani, mike and have dragon have miko chase around kills with marquis keeping tabs. But yeah the 5 second wound on tier one and two with galilea basically nullifies alani, hitting with shield first then desecrating the stun.
My biggest issue with Alani is her dialogue. For every “■■■■ your sandcastle” there are 10 annoying lines about chapstick and meditation. O and the inability to know will this geyser heal me or silence, knock up, and stun me?
Yeah, they need to color code her moves a bit better. I don’t mind her dialogue, but I’ll play around with her some more to see if I hate her soon.
I prefer the pull and then wound with… what is it, shield throw is the second one? Because pull stun beat the crap outta her. Or stun pull beat the crap out of her. Either way she’s taken more than she can heal for a bit, and can’t cc me away. If I have lasers… She dies.
Oooh, ooh, I know, shayne and aurox with health regen! I mean, she didn’t take all that much damage, if S&A popped a fetch, probably would’ve been fine. She wouldn’t have dealt that much damage though, if s&a actually fought she’d have lost her shield, taken a bit of damage, and ran out of there as fast as possible
This video is awful, you guys got outplayed. Alani is still over powered, but she is at least killable now. But yeah, her damage needs nerfing still. I had an alani on my team today that put out 160k damage AND healed for 60k in the same match. Those numbers are a bit excessive for any character to be able to achieve imo.
This is very true, but I’ve seen some people do this if left to their own devices in a lane and allowed to have their way with the enemy teams minions as other characters as well. I really wish it showed how much damage was against players and how much was against minions so we as the players could get a more accurate number for ourselves to discuss.
It’s possible for Boldur to do this, with the right helix mods. And yes, that would be a level 2 Boldur. I have to agree with other people, she was dodging you.
Alani’s damage is the biggest concern that I have.
I also think that self heal could have received a tweak to match her health adjustment, but I think that the tweak would be better addressed via update instead of hotfix.
If the problem is gear, you address gear, not heroes. Otherwise she would become a cripple unless you can farm that specific gear. Remember the Bee fiasco in Borderlands 2? Instead of removing the Bee from the game, they made enemies such bullet sponges at higher difficulties that the item became a must 95% of the time.
I’m going to throw my hat in with the “What an awful video to try and convince us Alani is OP” crowd.
Caldarius didn’t apply grenades from what I could see, you piddled about with a sunspot or two and the life drain when you had full heat and she was barely paying attention to you, a heat wave and some scorching strikes after she dropped her first heal and she would have been done.
I see where the current skill level of the meta is right now with the comments, I’m not suprised though. You guys just completely went over the comment and watched the video, not even reading where the grip is.
For all players who defended the Alani in this scenerio and said i got outplayed i just have one question to ask you.
Name one other character, given the situation, that would’ve came out with more HP in this case?
Whiskey no matter what you put on him will ever make him a tank assassin. Boluder no matter what will make you a healer assassin. El Dragon no matter what gear will not make you supporter tank. Ambra no matter what gear…
I’m giving GBX a chance with their health nerf but I’m really not sure that is enough. For a “support” she has amazing DPS and sustain. She can stay in lane indefinitely (a buddy of mine never once teleported back to base) and she often leads in kills, minions cleared, and damage dealt. That just doesn’t make any sense, especially for a “support”. Supports should lead in assists if anything. Maybe minions cleared too but her wave clear power is ridiculous, it’s not uncommon to see her have killed as many minions as her teammates combined.
I really don’t think she is OP not to the point where its gamebreaking…i can take out most alanis in a 1v1 situation. Is she annoying in some situations? Yes but its only in certain situations just like rath in some situations rath is completely unstoppable…her damage needs a small nerf but that’s about it
Thorns standard health regen would’ve been enough to get out fine, heck even without regen I am sure I could’ve gotten out of that if Caldy didn’t nade me.
Shayne, Oscar, and Deande could’ve all easily gone stealth to get away from that. Rath could’ve survived that if he attacked the turret for the life steal and reduced DPS by destroying it. Considering you were not on top of the enemy at all, had it been Rath he could’ve also just hit Caldy with Catalytic Smash and run or post level 5 tanked the whole thing and killed you and the turret (even in a world without Dreadwind).
Reyna could’ve popped an over shield and escaped with extreme ease. I could keep going, but the reason people keep bringing up the extremely poor video is because that’s the point, you use this to complain she is hard to kill when you were playing poorly (from a DPS standpoint) and so was your Caldy. Now maybe Caldy was on cool down the majority of the video or there was someone off screen who silenced him and we just caught a crappy slice of the match but I do believe Occam’s Razor applies well here and it was just a new/bad Caldy.
You are not answering my question. I said name a character that could do this and come out with more HP than what they left with.
She was at 25% hp and left the situation with about 80% hp.
Im not upset at the fact that she got away, im upset at her sustainability on top of really good damage.
Also i played my role of ambra right, seeing as you have to get right on your opponent to damage them. I could’ve maybe put a sun spot by the turrent for a little more damage but that would defeat the purpose of the pincer attack of cutting off all egress options. Which is why put that second sunspot so even if she ran up the hill she’d take more damage and longer to recover. But no, Alani just bursts and heals.
Any other character would’ve been near dead or took enough damage to be on the retreat, but Alani was able to stay and GAIN life.
This video right here was reviewed by a couple of people. My team and I say you made a horribly poor decision here and you could have done better. At 15 seconds in you didnt pincer attack anything. You re-positioned to attack from the same direction as Cald. She gained stacks from hitting the Turret and to add that was easy 6 seconds of no damage taken so she could heal or have gear that regened. At 25 seconds and on you keep line of sight broken where Cald is the only one doing work. Another 4 seconds go by with no one really focusing on her. The Cald is also probably having a bad engagement and isnt playing well in our opinion. You clearly didnt have the DPS to take her because you wanted to play off of Cald and not be attacking the Alani. You cant say a character is OP if your not optimizing your DPS at all times. Specially if your teammate is not having any luck. Plus she didnt kill anyone but your turret. Just because she can sustain and escape means nothing. This video just displays how much you need to improve on decision making. I could go even further in detail if you want on how we would have played that differently.
Please go in detail how you would’ve played it differently.
Also note that i am consistenly on the top of kills, damage output, and healing given with each respective character i use. In this particular match i was 3rd in damage and highest healing, losing damage to thorn and isic. I know how to play every job respectfully well and what roles they need to provide. So at this point i used ambra in a way that COULD maximize damage (optimizing isn’t always going in for damage).
It was a pincer, flank, attack from both sides option i was using, as if i went the other direction to assist caldirius it would’ve gave her an easy option of escape without getting any damage. I was also at high risk of taking the same riptide he suffered from if i approached on the same side. Knowing rather to go around and assist in that casr is a split second decision which i made a really good choice. The only better option was to chase he around as she ended up coming back to the side i was facing. But that could’ve easily shifted one direction or the other depending on how she felt.
How does that video even show shes op? You people arent even trying. Its like you’re convinced in your head shes op no matter what. You werent even sticking with her. She kept dodging even though she is slow. It seems like a case of you just needing to get a little better, no offense.
I’m in the same boat as everyone else, you didn’t do a very good job of pushing her. What makes it worse, is she wasn’t even that good of an Alani. You’re lucky she spec’d wrong and didn’t charge after you for lore bait.
