Split Screen - Too Small (please fix!)

I was hoping they would fix this from the beta. It should be top priority. How do they expect us to play together, it’s not fun squinting at all. You did it vertical for borderlands, so fix it in battleborn.

I made a topic about it for the beta (as did several others), and nothing changed…

Like others pointed out, you just need to move closer to the screen of whatever you are playing on unfortunately (don’t kill your eyes!)…
I tried cushions on the floor (but my back got sore after long play - must improve posture!)…
And eventually moved the couch (hate the way my lounge room functions right now… But Battleborn!)…

Then the only other reassurance I can offer (though it may not be of comfort), is that “you will get used to it”…
I hated the mini map position, hated the size of the text, hated the compact nausea feeling I’d get when there was so much graphical noise happening on screen…
BUT now I can play the game no problem after several attempts, it’s now like any other splitscreen game, they suck because of the ratio of everything at first, but eventually the flow of things happen…

When you have been playing one character for a while it helps too, as you get to know your skill tree, and simply choose options based on the icon, rather than the text it’s self… Playing a new character, well that means squint and read again until you know them…

Persist, and even if no change happens… Hopefully the change of getting used to it will happen for everyone too. (Like it did for me)

Battleborn feedback this should help us understand hopefully

I can understand that. Also, I think you’re right that people can adapt to difficulties like this. I would just add that I think that can be said for nearly all problems a game could have.

People could get used to playing with lags, but they’ll be disadvantaged still. For example, the POV. Sure players can start to have sensory adaptation, and not notice it as much as the first time. I don’t think this would change that in general the problem is a limitation.

Thank you for sharing that.

No worries, every bit of info helps.

I’m not denying it’s a limitation, when I played the beta, not gonna lie… I wanted to cry…
As that was the main way I was going to/wanted to play Battleborn, side by side with my badass in crime…

I had mini tantrums and fits about ‘no this sucks!’, just not being able to do it, thinking of hanging up my hat and cancelling my preorder (okay… I was never really going to do that, gearbox/2k loyalty)…
But now, after many attempts (hence, the getting used to it… MANY attempts), it’s now ‘meh, I got this!’…, but that’s a general hiccup with most split screen.

I like to think the split screen community is pretty adaptable, and awesome, and badass… No challenge unattemptable… And some of the most skilful players out there, because we always start with beef when it comes to our screens, haha.

But if they fix it for the majority whom hate it, good… I just might find myself ‘again’ getting used to something.

Thanks for sharing that!

I gotta say I’d like it if it were like borderlands (2?), if i recall top and bottom had slightly different views (one may see a bit more of their gun, the other sees more of the top of the screen) And for them to do the helix like the bl2 menus where you have to mvoe it to see it but you can read it.

However over all, I don’t really care, I meanI really want it fixed, but the game is still really fun splitscreen, just glad I’m not doing it on my 28 inch personal tv and playing in the living room with friends. Nothing like sharing my game with friends and wrecking minions with Kelvin and miko

my floor is getting pretty scraped up from all the furniture moving though…

I posted similarly in the co-op topic just now before seeing this thread. I don’t mind the split-screen layout, with the unified map, but their insistence on keeping the helix layout the same between full- and split-screen is really hurting the experience. I understand we’ll all get to know a few of these characters better and won’t need to read everything every time, but there are 25 of them! Someone is almost always going to be reading or trying something new. If they could just show one bineary choice at a time to give a little extra real estate to the text, that would make a huge difference. Getting up to stand in front of the TV after every leve-up is really going to drag the experience.

Thanks for listening.

yall r lucky. pc version doesnt even have split screen. i bought it thinking it would support it. im pretty sad now tbh. i hope maybe one day pc devs stop being lazy and add split screen for pc. i like playing on pc because better fps and gfx… y not split screen? whats rthe reason? too lazy? or is it hard to code?

serious sam supports split screen lol.

Just saying, 90% of pc games do not support splitscreen. PCs don’t always support it either. Honestly, this is the first time im hearing about pc splitscreen (and i do play pc games). Though I agree they should’ve been more clear about that.

I put in a support ticket about this. They said that I should post on here about this issue.
I can deal with the map bar as it is. But if they could just zoom in on the helix menu that would be incredibly beneficial.

Hey, sorry to be off topic but I have seen your guild, or cabal, in TSW

I’m sorry, I think you may have me confused with some one else? I don’t own a guild on anything, and I am not certain I know what TSW is?

You’re welcome to PM me on it, but I’m fairly certain you may be mistaking me with some one else unless I’m missing a joke on either my name/avatar.

TSW = The Secret World. There was a guild name In Vino Vertias, but I guess I got the wrong person/guild!

Oh! Haha! No, it is just a popular old Latin saying. So I suspect they’re just fellow wine lovers. No bother.

I’m passing this on to our UI team for you guys!

the split screen stems from a foundational design flaw

if they switched the view to 3rd person in split screen and shrunk up the radar and menus it would be a lot better.

If they would just make it like Borderlands where we could split vertically it would help. Once my wife and I did that the game was so much better.
