I often refer to my skill tree page for quick reminders of how the skills work or what I specced or to quickly apply a new point. The last thing I want is to wait on an animation. Which, on my Xbox one x, is usually very slow.

At the very least give me an option to disable them in the menu.

I’m always for more options, and while it doesn’t bother me too much on single player (ps4) it actually keeps my wife and I from doing anything for up to 20 seconds in splitscreen.

Turning menu animations and 3D effects down/off would be well recieved.

All the menus, including the skill trees, are atrocious and need to be overhauled ASAP. By far one of my biggest complaints.

I hopped on BL2 the other day and forgot how glorious it is to be able to open up and swap a gun in 2 seconds. Lol

Or simply make the menus like they were in the previous games. Its a lot of geometry that’s being rendered in the menu’s, the echo, character, character hands, and weapon. Animations on the skill tree needs to go.

I also wonder if the weapons/items are scaled down 3-D models as well, if they are that’ll definitely cause a lag in the menu.

Yeah it’s definitely by far my biggest complaint with the game. It’s just like so terribly bad that it doesn’t even halfway match the quality of the rest of the game. It’s like they totally disregarded function whatsoever and just went “make it pretty”. Not only does the horrible performance of this UI make them look bad, it’s also been confirmed(in the dev talks) to be the majority contributing factor to our limited inventory/bank space and what is making it so difficult for them to expand it.

Just download an app to your phone. You can save builds and even… Remove skill points!!!

Elaborate?

The official skill tree you have to hit a back arrow to remove skills and it goes in reverse order. The app let’s me just remove a skill points anywhere without have to undo everything. Plus I can add points for class mods.

I was more asking what is this app you are speaking of

I miss being able to switch weapons with the D-Pad. That should be a option or am I missing something?

You can swap to the original button layout, its in the controller options.

Look for “Classic” in the controller configuration. You might have to go under “Advanced” or something like that.

Switching to classic makes long-pressing Y (or triangle on PS4) your alternate-fire toggle. Unfortunately, with the classic configuration you simply lose the capability to scroll through quests without having to open your map menu, and you can’t use the new “ping” functionality. But for me, being able to bind the weapons to the D-pad was much more important.

This is another one of those “features”, like unskippable cutscenes, that somehow got through all of development and testing without raising a single eyebrow.

“Hey, we’re gonna design a system with a special difficulty that requires you to swap out weapons and AS augments on the fly so you can stay relevant, but we’re also going to make it so opening the menu to do either of those things freezes the whole damn game!”

Brilliant.

There is also the issue with loading into maps and such on co-op. when i play with my friend by the time i log in to the map they are already half way across the map on a vehicle. In BL2 you both got in at the same time, but now a mission can be almost finished before the other players can even get into the new zone on co-op

Me: I’ma step back and swap weapons real fast
Me: — Pauses — (oops was on skill tree)
Me:
Friend: [now in ffyl] maybe a Rez?
Me: um. Just a sec — animation of Ironbear springs to life at 7 fps shooting the world
Friend: [respawning]
Me: — skill tree appears and I change to bags, screen freezes
Friend: hey I think a gold dropped
Me: — accidentally navigates to guardian rank
screen freezes
Friend: hey the quest is done, so, uh, I’ma spawn a car and u can just teleport, k?
Me: yeah I’m getting some water now anyways

Makes sense. They should just go ahead and pre-render them all and save down some graphics of them even if those don’t match the exact combo of parts. This would kill two birds with one stone. 1) it would render faster and 2) it would let us carry more items and browse them without hangups.

it could possibly even be part of the “framerate vs quality” toggle.

Anything to improve UI performance would be nice. Mayhem modifiers are always forcing me to swap Iron Bear weapons, so the menu lag does get old.
