Okay, so, I went into my Echo Logs. My brain was SOOO sure Lorelai said “New-U” that I had to verify.

It’s in her Echo Log “Sitrep” that you find on Promethea. I re-read the transcript, and listened to the audio again. And… she says “Quick-Change”, not New-U. Now it’s going to bug me that my brain remembered it as New-U, but what can ya do? :man_shrugging:

In the near future, I’ll be reading the Borderlands comics, and I’ll see if there’s any mention of New-U stations in there. :man_shrugging:

Borderlands comics are not canon as confirmed by the developers themselves so it doesn’t matter if it is mentioned there.

That seems to be an issue for me, , what is the money for, there’s almost never a gun worth buying so??? I think that needs to be addressed… you can earn guns, etc by doing missions but there should be guns that can ONLY be bought for cash, eridium and other guns, go beyond legendary to GOD

I thought the ones written by Mike Neumann (original writer) had been said to be canon? I think the ones written by anyone else should be cannon fodder though!

I am pretty sure it was in the last Co-op Couch that they said they had decided all the comics were not canon unless I am remembering wrongly.

I think I’ve figured it out! It’s been well known since the first game that Marcus had setup a virtual monopoly on vending machines in the Pandoran system. Dr. Zed gets to have his Health & Class Mod vending machines on Pandora, and Nurse Nina gets to have hers on Elpis, but all the others are owned and operated by Marcus Munitions!

So, here’s what I’m thinking… Marcus ALSO secured the exclusive license for New-U Stations throughout all the worlds we visit in Borderlands 3, and he acts as a gatekeeper and only allows his friends and minions (i.e. Player Characters) to use them! And the money he charges goes into his PROFITS! Yeah, that’s it, that’s the ticket, yeah!:+1:

A little similar to what I came up with back for BL2. Let me see if I can find that…

I liked the post you linked @VaultHunter101… The only thing I’d consider is that perhaps Jack never wanted to be in the New u because he was always ready to meet his wife again and just focusing on the legacy he’d leave behind in the meantime?

The only (Or one of the very few.) issue I have with New-U not being cannon is Brick laughing when you kill all his Slabs… :man_shrugging:

I guess it’s a bandit thing? I never did understand why you’d see 20-40 of your clan killed just to welcome in one new recruit. That’s not exactly a growth curve for your organization…

Pandora does not lack Bandits. They’re a renewable resource, new-u or no.

I do love canon-agonising. Careful with cannons though guys.

The loss of ammo refill was disappointing, especially in the areas with only 1 ammo machine. Once they add more to the larger maps and before the boss fights, it might not be so bad.

While it may not be crippling once you are making good money, it can be frustrating when you’re starting out. It’s similar to the repair-fee in Diablo 3 (another contentious point). All it does is hurt the new players/characters.

As it is the only real penalty for dying (outside of maybe time and progress if you have to start over on a boss or travel back to an area), it’s not that bad. And once you can make enough money to cover ammo and the occasional Item of the Day, and have maxed your SDU, there isn’t much else you need money for.

At the higher level of SDU purchases, saving up and acquiring money can be a hassle. It would be nice to have a lay-away-plan for those.

Otherwise, using a second account to hold your money is an option. But that’s not for everyone.

I think the cost is a bit too high, as my skills are not up to snuff yet and a few too many deaths while I figure something out means taking a grind break. It’s getting less annoying as there is nothing to spend loot or eridium on, but it was tough a few times early on

The costs to respawn in BL3 shouldnt go by how much cash you have but something more resonable like $ 000.000.

That was very weird choice with locations of vendors. In very long map like Skywell shops are located only at beginning, and in Voracious Canopy map we have two sets in the ship which is very short and later in the game, when we have more ammo.

It wasn’t so much ammo, I fell short of.

It was more a place to sell all the loot I’d acquired.

I play like a pack mule…fill my bags with all the shiney goodness, reserving a space for those awesome awesome pieces and a few of my switchouts
