Stuck on claptrap screen pls help

MAYBE a possible fix( assuming you were running it just fine then it didn’t work), i was having the same issue after i crashed mid boss fight. after a while of troyuble shooting i restarted my computer. When everything came back up i went to My games/Borderlands3/Saved/SavedGames and took the file that was in there and ploped it on my desktop and ran the game to see if it would work… it did so immediately after i went back ploped the file in and overwrote the file. Note when /if it ask about the cloud data i clicked the option that said the copy your pc to the cloud.

Was able to fix this by Editing the .ini file located in Documents\my games\borderlands 3\saved\config\windowsnoeditor\gameusersettings.ini
Change line 91 to read “PreferredGraphicsAPI=DX11”.

HOPE THIS HELPS!!

It doesn’t help people who are getting this in dx11.

just got my refund kind of disappointing it had to come to this really looked forward to playing on PC. I just hope it works on Xbox too. Hope this whole thing gets sorted out soon!

My issue had the same problem but I think it had to do with the windowed mode settings, so I reset the setting by deleting my saved game folder C:\Users*youruser*\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 3

Delete the whole folder (IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED ANY OF THE GAME YET!!!), restart the game in Epic and make sure you don’t get saved data from the cloud, not 100% what it asked but it said something like “do you want to get your game data from the cloud”, I said no. But after that the game started in full screen mode and loaded right away after Claptrap showed up in the loading screen.

It should also be possible to set fullscreen mode in the .ini file

Respectfully, What its going to do gearbox about it?

Has the day one patch already been released? The game has serious optimization problems. And I can’t go in( While there is no solution, I’m sitting there waiting to go in the game

Really not happy with the launch, with all the bugs I’ve seen people talk about and then being let down after 5 months of waiting just to get crapped on by the ‘‘Dancing Claptrap’’ bug before even reaching the main menu is a joke. I do hope gearbox puts a patch through soon to fix this.

And yes I have tried EVERYTHING the past 48 hours that people also have tried, nothing is working.

I don’t think there was a day 1 patch. I know - because someone posted a screenshot of the tweet - that there’s a planned 30 day patch. All I can say at this point it: if you’ve encountered a bug (like the one in this thread), please file a support ticket and include relevant information (OS version, GPU, CPU, driver versions, RAM…) The more information Gearbox has - particularly if the bug is associated with specific hardware and software configurations - the easier it will be to track down and resolve.

30 day patch? Damn, that’s how you lose money right there – no one is going to pay 60 dollars then wait 30 days for an unplayable/buggy game to finally be playable. If they don’t fix all the problems within one week at the VERY BARE MINIMUM, I can expect a lot of hate.

I’m hoping that tweet is just a rumor, but if it isn’t… Gearbox better get ahold of themselves.

Got also stuck on Claptrap screen but could hear the Intro. For me it was the Windows Firewall popup that asks for permission. Needed to force close the game and close the Popup. Restarted the game and everything works fine.

I turned off the computer firewall. Did not help(

I switched to DX12 and got the claptrap screen… I do play in ultrawide (3440x1440)
I fixed this by going to the folder;
Documents/my games/borderlands 3/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEdit

Opening the file; GameUserSettings

And changing «PreferredGraphocsAPI=DX12» to DX11 and saving, re launching  worked for me.

Its dont help. We have another problem. We cant run game on dx11

Personally I think we need to scrub round giving ticket reports as that’s obviously not working, we all need to directly message gearbox/Randy until they get pissed off enough to actually fix the game we all paid for.

Im already do this

Tickets are important. If you haven’t filed ticket, please do so as the more information the team has the better. What won’t help is submitting multiple tickets on the same account - if anyone wants to follow-up, they can simply reply to the last email on the same ticket number. (Starting new tickets for the same problem on the same account actually slows things down.)

Randy’s twitter feed is obviously open, so I’m not going to tell anyone they shouldn’t post there if that’s what they want to do. But that doesn’t put information into the bug tracking system, which is what is needed.

Hi, this is from another thread, where the loading screen was causing my pc to reboot.
I fixed mine by
(I’d updated my motherboards sound drivers as part of the driver updates to try and get things working)
In windows 10, if you go into the control panel, go into ‘sound’
on the playback tab you have a list of possible devices.
I had 2 active devices, I disabled the one I wasn’t using, (in this case my monitors speakers).
Highlighted the remaining device (should be default) (in my case it was just called speakers) and clicked on the configure button.
And went through the wizard like steps.

Amazingly the game now loads -
On other threads I have read issues with soundcard drivers, and reverting to the motherboard audio jacks (basic setup) has resolved simular issues.
