Yesterday, i reached the point where I’m supposed to place the astronav chip in Sanctuary’s console, triggering the launch of Sanctuary (I watched someone play through this part so I know what to expect).
Instead of placing the astronav chip, I saved and quit. The next time I played, I joined the game of another player who had already launched Sanctuary and arrived at Promethea.
Today, upon logging into my solo game, I found that I’m back on Pandora, with the quest “Install Astronav” still active. Every map marker points me towards Fast Travel stations, and when I open the fast travel interface, the quest marker is on Sanctuary.
I can navigate to Sanctuary’s map, but I can’t fast travel there. The Sanctuary fast travel station is not visible on my map (I checked mine against fully revealed maps of Sanctuary), nor does it give me the option to fast travel there through any of the menus.
I suspect, because I never installed the chip, I never got the tour of the ship and therefore never logged the Fast Travel beacon at the back of the ship. By jumping into a different game, I pulled myself out of Sanctuary before I could activate the travel point. The game can’t warp me to the Fast Travel station because, from a programming sense, Sanctuary doesn’t exist to be explored until after you launch, and I warped to another game without ever launching the ship.
That’s my theory anyway.
I’m here to find out if I can fix it. I searched Pandora for any way to get to the ship – the launch site is abandoned, it’s just Vaughn talking to himself at the abandoned Crimson Raider base.
I think I fell into a glitch. I know lots of folks have been struggling with the interface, but I’m pretty confident I exhausted every option. At this point I’ve burned an hour of play time just trying to get off planet again.
Anyone else have this issue? Seems pretty specific.
