Surrendering is good

Tell that to the majority of surrender votes being called by the player who has died the most or right after the first sentry goes down on Incursion.

I view my team surrendering without my consent as a waste of my time, I actually want to play the game not wait in a queue for another quick surrender.

Didn’t you just say that surrendering has nothing to do with K:D?

Yeah, I’ll just let that one go.

There is an excuse, it’s called playing the game and gaining experience. Not in-game XP, but gaming experience. I learn from my losses, if you choose not to and vote for surrender instead that’s up to you but I’d rather my teammates quit then be forced into a surrender. The vote should be unanimous, not just majority vote, it’s unfair to lose a winnable game because three of your teammates prefer easy wins over hard fought matches against skilled opponents.

Yeah… More or less what i was gonna say; but i thought “i’m gonna let someone else take this one”, haha.

We only won because we played to the objective.

We lost because I stopped playing objective…

That’s one of the few times my team will surrender. Another is if we way outclass our competition, though we’ll usually just try to get the match over with as quick as possible.

Just had to get that Worthy of Song title, eh? :stuck_out_tongue:

I already had it, I started on a big killstreak and we were so far ahead that I thought there was no way we could lose, with two minutes to go we lost the lead and the clock ticked down :open_mouth: I’ve never made the same mistake since, and I always remember that match when I’m on a killstreak.

Over time I’ve come to understand why different people refuse to surrender. There are various different reasons and some of those have already been discussed here.

However, as a solo player most of the time, there’s nothing/no one stopping me from leaving a match if it is refused to surrender. I simply don’t have the patience to deal with uncoordinated players specially if they are level 100+.

I saw you playing, yesterday. Actually, I just checked and we didn’t play, despite we were in the same team… You were Kleese and I was Toby. There was a third guy who wanted to play, as Kid Ultra. I went back HQ when I saw that two guys of our team weren’t moving… And they never moved. How can you possibly enjoy a game when you’re down two players at the very beginning of the match ?

optimists that is all that needs to be said

The problem being, if you leave the match, you can’t start queueing for the next until the old one ends. You’re also making it worse on your team by leaving than by surrendering … they would also be better off in another match than in a MORE lopsided match when you leave.

Thus why I surrender. A surrender is not an admission that the enemy team is each individually better than me, but that my “team” as a whole isn’t better than theirs. I never surrender if I’ve actually recruited or been recruited to a team, but in PUGs its feast or famine.

Their characters got picked randomly while they were away, they never came back :frowning:

I do agree to an extent with the op It’s frustrating playing on a team with low lvls. However when I realize I’m the most experienced on my team I will hop on game chat and try and rally the troops and get people to focus. However if that first sentry goes down before the option to surrender has even come up then you know there isn’t much hope for a come back.

I’m not against carrying my team depending on which battleborn I’m working on at the moment. But I’d much rather play on a balance team where people know their roles and more importantly to clear the minoins first on Incursion.

I only surrender when I the enemy team is using a cheesey team comp or tactic that we have no way of countering. (e.g. we’re up against alani, miko, reyna, kid ultra, and galilea, and we have an extremely bad team comp or no hard CC)

I understand not wanting to surrender. Most matches, I am having tons of fun, learning new techniques, or getting better at a certain character.

More than once, I’ve called for a surrender during a stomp because I got bored of winning for no reason other than “the enemy team is bad.” (I usually try and give some of the losers a few tips, when I notice they do something egregiously stupid)

On the few matches where none of those things are true, I’ll surrender and requeue to get a match where I can have a bit more fun.

Well, like i said, it’s rare; but i BELIEVE that every time i have left for that reason, i have always been the last person left.

I will never surrender… In anything. I’ve taken my fait share of real life, physical beatdowns for this, but that is also rare. If i should die one day from refusing to run (say, from a crazy with an assault rifle), then i will die with my honor intact. Yes, it’s a game, and yes, sometimes me never giving up can cause the others on my team to wait a little longer (personally, since so many of the matches i get into end via surrender, i really don’t feel bad about refusing to; let the shoe be on the other foot for once, damn it!), and perhaps that makes me selfish. I honestly don’t care. Why? Because the tradeoff is that, while i’m sure that there are plenty of players who use these forums that wouldn’t want me on their team for this reason, there are an equally high number of others who know that, no matter what, i’m not going to give up on them.

I won a match of Meltdown where I had three feeders who died 20+ times each (one almost broached 30).

As a team we died more than 80 times and still won.

It’s rare, but it can happen. Surrendering in an absolute no win is OK, but I still do it extremely rarely. I’m a glutton for punishment I guess.

That’s a complete lost to me even if the match was won at the end. The boredom of witnessing 3 of your members feeding kills and having that vast amount of total deaths is way too much to go trough for a simple virtual game.

You know what is truly fun for me? Are those rare matches where both teams compose of equally skilled players. They go back and forth, pushing the opponents to base and also getting pushed back various times during the match. These matches make you think a lot, and rises your adrenaline out of so much enjoyment. The end results come out something like this

That’s a very fun match for both the winners and the losers.

It was actually a really fun match which was 460-455 at the end of the meltdown timer, with most of their points coming from player kills.

These guys were terrible, don’t get me wrong, but they defended the grinders with their lives and proved playing objective can trump deathmatch.

I should quantify that this was a silly chaos rumble match where all 3 insta-locked Rath so me and my co-op partner followed suit. We killed the enemy team about 40-50 times between us as well so it was a crazy game all round.

This reminds me of my lowest score Meltdown match, 395-393 on Paradise, our Thorn was 1-11 or something but had over 100 minions and in the dying seconds sacrificed herself to stop the final wave that would have lost us the match. She was MvP despite me being 16-4 that match and feeling like I was carrying, she did everything necessary to clear waves and most of her 11 deaths came because of her focus on the objective. Rare player.

I agree that it is unfair to lose a winnable game just because you got matched with a majority of idiots or someone who would rather surrender than mess up their K/D or those guys who start hiding behind the base safe zone after they get killed a few times, often resulting in the entire team getting pushed up to said safe zone.

It is also unfair for you to turn my 10 minute loss into a 30 minute loss

Then you can quit. I’d rather my allies quit than force me to surrender. Or, you can persevere and help create a comeback.
